Chapter 1202: Chapter 1195: Buying Gifts
"What do girls generally like?" Cheng Ziang asked, stroking his chin.
"Earrings, head accessories, rings... I’ve heard that people on Earth use rings to express love; you could try that," the Snow Elf suggested from the doorway.
"Uh, that might be too soon and scare her off," Cheng Ziang scratched his head, feeling an itch on his scalp.
"I’ve been meaning to ask, what’s actually going on between you and Luoya? You guys haven’t made any progress, have you?" Luo’er asked, tilting his head.
"Sigh, we’ve had less time to meet recently, and I always feel uneasy," Cheng Ziang sighed.
"Indeed, I haven’t seen her staying at home much recently. She’s just a student; why is she always out?" Luo’er also expressed his confusion.
"Wait, you’re her brother and you don’t even know what she’s been up to?" Cheng Ziang asked, blinking.
"Oh, I’ve been engrossed in my studies lately and haven’t really kept an eye on her," Luo’er shrugged, honestly answering.
"She’s been acting in a TV drama, and you didn’t even know?" Cheng Ziang asked, eyes wide.
"Eh, when did that happen?" Luo’er asked after a pause.
"A few months ago, my Captain..." Cheng Ziang had a defeated look.
"What kind of drama is it?" Luo’er asked curiously.
"It seems like some fantasy drama, a real mishmash of everything. Luoya appears to be playing an elf in the drama," Cheng Ziang shrugged and said.
"An elf playing an elf..." Luo’er didn’t know how to comment for a moment.
"Word is that it’s a serious production, backed by the relevant departments. It seems they are planning to make Luoya the spokesperson for the Elf Planet Project and use her popularity to promote the project," Cheng Ziang explained.
"They did all this without even consulting me!" Luo’er frowned slightly, sounding somewhat displeased.
"The Principal must have agreed to it; otherwise, they couldn’t possibly borrow Luoya," Cheng Ziang said.
"I’ll have to ask about this later. This is outrageous; as her guardian, I have no knowledge of the matter at all. Who knows if Luoya has been mistreated in the tricky world of entertainment," Luo’er spoke angrily.
"You’re finally understanding what it’s like to be angry?" Cheng Ziang looked at him, helplessly saying.
"Why didn’t you tell me about this?" Luo’er asked.
"My relationship is with her, not with you. Have you ever seen anyone discussing their romance with their brother-in-law all the time?" Cheng Ziang teased.
"Are you two going to buy something or not? If not, please leave. This small business can’t afford to serve you two big shots." Their conversation was interrupted by the Snow Elf’s lazy voice as she leaned against the door, arms crossed and looking displeased.
"Hey, you’re running a business, why the big temper?" Luo’er turned and said.
"Many people actually like it when I scold them; the angrier I get, the more excited they become. What, you two don’t like this approach?" the Snow Elf said calmly.
"Who the heck are your usual customers..." The two men looked at each other and couldn’t help but mutter.
The two browsed around the store, and it must be said, the items here were indeed expensive, with practically nothing under five hundred. Even though it was now 2057, five hundred now was more or less the same as back then.
"You’re selling a pair of small earrings for eight hundred, and they aren’t even made of gold. Are you out to rob us?" Even Cheng Ziang couldn’t help but complain.
"This is handmade by me, naturally it’s expensive." The Snow Elf didn’t see any issue with that.
"This is a typical scheme of fleecing everyone who comes by; after all, there’s no need for returning customers since Lipei has plenty of tourists," Luo’er whispered to Cheng Ziang as he pulled him aside.
"It’s very rude to speak ill of someone behind their back," came the elevated tone of the Snow Elf from behind them, "and I can understand everything you’re saying."
"Uh..." Hearing her words, the two turned around and exchanged awkward glances.
"These pieces of jewelry are meticulously crafted by me. Though there might be a bit of a markup, they are absolutely worth more than their price. I’ve already told you that I would give you a fifty percent discount when you arrived. If you’re still not satisfied, please leave. I don’t want to do business with you," the Snow Elf said, somewhat angrily.
"Please, calm down, ma’am. Can we look around a bit more?" Luo’er gestured soothingly.
"I think you should buy some jewelry for Moumou and Yue’er. Though they don’t wear jewelry much, no matter what, as long as it’s from you, they would definitely be happy," Cheng Ziang suggested.
"Ah, if they don’t wear it, is it really necessary?" Luo’er asked.
"Sigh," Cheng Ziang sighed, then said, "I’m just a straight guy, but you are really clueless. It’s the thought that counts, not the object. Do you understand?"
"Got it," Luo’er nodded.
The two spent nearly two thousand and bought some jewelry, intending to give it away as gifts. They passed through the Otherworld Gate and had just arrived on Earth when they received a notification to gather at the Shenghua Academy’s meeting room.
Taking an unmanned vehicle, they quickly made their way to Shenghua Academy and then took the Omnidirectional Elevator to the meeting room. By then, the room was already occupied by others, including members of the Advance Team and some from the headquarters.
"Luo’er, you guys are so slow!" Tangmo was the first to speak when he saw them coming in.
"Sorry, we got held up on the way," Luo’er apologized, bowing his head to Wang Xu and Zhuyan Yu.
Due to health reasons, only a year after Lipei was established, Wang Xu was recalled to Earth to handle the office work on Earth while Li Si took over everything at Lipei. After all, his body was severely affected by Magic Power Erosion, and any further delay would have been critical.
"Luo’er, big brother!" Taran cheered on seeing Luo’er arrive, about to stand up but was quickly pulled back down by Baiyue sitting beside him.
For Luo’er, Taran’s presence was no surprise since he was also going to take part in this eastward expedition. After all, though the Advance Team had spent three years learning the Sub-beastmen language, there were still many inadequacies that required a pure Sub-beastman like him to act as a translator.
"Let’s start the meeting now that everyone’s here," said Wang Xu, tapping the table gently as the artificial intelligence knowingly activated the conference mode, blocking all external disturbances.
Seeing everyone ready, Wang Xu cleared his throat and said, "As we all know each other well, I’ll skip the usual formalities. In short, we received a notification from Ronisca yesterday telling us that the Helrandum is completely ready and can launch the eastward exploration mission at any time, so we need to hurry to Helros and meet them there to prepare officially for the expedition."
"Wow, how are we going to get there? Lipei is so far from Helros. We spent months walking when we came originally," Hu Daoke spread his hands and said.
"Don’t ask such stupid questions, obviously we’re taking an Airboat. Do you really want to walk?" Cheng Ziang shrugged and mocked.
"Are you just trying to argue with me?" Hu Daoke asked, frustrated.
"Cheng Ziang is right, an Airboat from a commercial line will arrive in a few days, and then you can all take it to Helros," Wang Xu nodded and answered.
After speaking, he looked at Zhuyan Yu, noticing she had been frowning and deep in thought, and asked, "Teacher Zhu, is there anything else you want to add?"
"Oh, nothing more to add, I was just pondering over some issues," Zhuyan Yu responded, coming to.
"That’s good," Wang Xu nodded and then looked around, addressing everyone, "Listen well, your task as the Advance Team is to assist Teacher Zhuyan Yu in completing the exploration mission. Your job is to protect, not to explore. Remember your roles and don’t try to overshadow others once you’re aboard the Airboat; this is one of your few opportunities to be deployed externally."
