Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 116 - 112: Big Shot

Chapter 116: Chapter 112: Big Shot

Although the plan was feasible, Hu Daoke still thought Luo’er was insane. Just the four of them, intending to ambush these ambushing rebels, it was easier said than done.

If the opponent was only a group using cold weapons, then Hu Daoke wouldn’t panic. Back in Meila Village, he suppressed those Beastmen using cold weapons with a light machine gun, sending them fleeing in panic. But the rebels they were facing were equipped with firearms, unless they didn’t counterattack, even just a few dozen concentrated shots would be enough to take down their small group.

However, since Luo’er has suggested so, they could give it a try. As far as Hu Daoke was concerned, Luo’er had always been a trustworthy figure. Be it at the academy or in Otherworld, he has always been the pillar of the entire team.

Following Luo’er’s plan, Baiyue crawled to the right side of the mountain slope, looking for a high point to take down the rebels’ machine gunner. Hu Daoke and Luo’er moved to their flanks to launch a sudden attack, while Moumou stayed behind.

All attacks would commence after Luo’er’s flare rose into the sky and if coordinated well, they could unleash more firepower on the enemy in the shortest time possible. This would trick the enemy into believing they were being counterattacked by an army several times their size, thereby driving them off the battlefield.

The two of them slipped their guns through the forest. Winter had already set in, and the foliage was not as dense as in summer. They quickly reached the flank of the rebels who were busy attacking the convoy. Here, over ten rebels and a machine gunner operated.

"Get ready!"

Luo’er took off the safety on his rifle and made a gesture to Hu Daoke who nodded his head, found a suitable spot to lie down and set up his light machine gun.

Once the preparations were complete, Luo’er drew the flare from his waist and shot it into the sky. With a loud explosion, an orange-red light rose into the sky, followed by the vicious, concentrated fire of Hu Daoke’s machine gun.

"Da da da.....da da da..."

Hu Daoke calmly implemented Luo’er’s orders, replacing the usual suppressive fire with short, three-round bursts. The effects were quite apparent as most of the enemy hit by the three-round bursts died, eliminating their chances of surviving.

Luo’er leaned against a tree trunk, launching an attack on another flank of the rebels. Despite the same semi-automatic single-shot, his firepower was much fiercer than the bolt-action rifles used by the rebels.

A muffled sound echoed from the mountainside, the rebel machine gunner silently lowering his head as the gunfire abruptly stopped. Luo’er and Hu Daoke’s fierce firepower took over.

In less than three minutes of crossfire, over ten rebels were wiped out. Their ferocious firepower finally struck fear into the hearts of the poorly trained rebels, causing them to cease fire and retreat.

There were some who attempted to take over the machine gunner’s position to suppress Luo’er, but they were quickly overpowered by Hu Daoke. Before even getting a chance to hold the machine gun, his head was blown off by Baiyue from the mountainside.

The battle proceeded exactly as predicted by Luo’er. The rebels chose to flee helter-skelter rather than retaliate against the powerful suppressive fire. The machine gunner that Hu Daoke was worried about barely had any impact before being taken out by Baiyue, this significantly diminished the morale of the rebels and accelerated their escape.

It had been only thirty years since Earth’s weapons entered Otherworld, and the rebels had only been causing trouble for a few years. It was challenging for the rebels to master the use of Earth’s weapons and infantry tactics in such a short time.

Luo’er’s team, their opponents, had received strict training from the academy since they were children, which were driven by the army. In other words, Luo’er’s team were trained by the army itself. So, these rebels trying to fight Luo’er’s team with army infantry tactics was like a toddler trying to wield an axe.

Luo’er’s team maximized their firepower. With a rifle and a machine gun, they unleashed a barrage like an entire platoon. The rebels, who normally relied on firing blindly, hadn’t seen anything like this and mistakenly thought enemy reinforcements were upon them. As a result, they fled in disarray.

The battle hadn’t lasted more than five minutes before the rebels’ morale collapsed, greatly easing the pressure on the knights. But Luo’er didn’t dare to take things lightly as the rebels were still armed with rifles. Even though they were bolt-action, a headshot could still be fatal. Without the powerful armor of the knights, they had to be extra careful.

Luo’er continued to suppress the rebel forces, he was also joined by Hu Daoke in maintaining the suppression. The rebels couldn’t maintain order and scattered into the woods. Hu Daoke took down the enemy almost every ten shots.

Soon only their gunshots echoed in the battlefield. With the confirmation that the rebels had fled, Luo’er whistled towards Hu Daoke and made a cover sign.

Hu Daoke nodded and didn’t care if there were still bullets left in the box, he switched to a new one. Then he aimed his gun at the knights.

After Hu Daoke was ready to provide cover, Luo’er came out from behind the tree with his hands up and walked slowly towards the knights.

"Halt!" Not after walking for more than twenty meters, Luo’er was stopped by a knight.

He held up his shield, his eagle-like eyes peeping through the narrow gap of his helmet. He hid behind the shield, carefully watching Luo’er, before loudly questioning, "Who are you?"

"We are passing adventurers who came to help when we saw you being attacked by bandits!" Luo’er raised his hands and loudly replied.

"Who can prove you’re not with them?" the knight asked warily.

Luo’er took out the emblem of adventurers from his pocket and signaled with his hand, "This is my emblem, my friends are nearby, why would I come out if we wanted to attack you?"

Seemingly believing Luo’er’s words, the knights finally dropped their excessive guard. The one in the lead stood up, ran to a carriage, and started whispering. Luo’er noticed that this was the carriage with the Level 4 Hybrid Defense Runes that Tangmo had mentioned, clearly indicating the occupant’s significant status.

The knight exchanged a few words with the person in the carriage, nodded, returned to Luo’er, and said, "Have your men come out and stand together, so we can assure you bear no ill will!"

"I am sorry, but my friends will not come out until you show some sincerity. If this is how you treat people who have helped you, then please let me leave!" Luo’er, with his hands raised, stated boldly yet respectfully.

"Stop talking and have your men come out immediately, or you won’t make it back alive!" the knight bellowed, pointing his sword at him.

"Then we have nothing more to say. I take my leave. May the original God of Light bless your safety!" Luo’er said firmly as he resolutely turned and left.

He knew that the knight couldn’t call the shots, so he planned to use a strategic retreat to draw out their big shot. However, despite his tactic, he was prepared for it to amount to nothing. If the big shot didn’t respond to him at all, then he would consider himself out of luck and mournfully admit the loss of hundreds of rounds.

"Hold on!" As he was lost in thought, a light voice came from behind. He turned to find a delicate-looking young girl emerging from the carriage protected by the Fourth Level Defense Magic.

She was dressed in an intricate and gorgeous outfit with cloud-white fur draped over her shoulders, golden curls draped down her back, and typical Aud skin white as ivory couldn’t conceal the light freckles on her face. The girl appeared to be around seventeen or eighteen, with her every movement exuding a noble air. After the carriage door was opened, she lifted her skirt with one hand, while the other hand rested on the knight’s, allowing him to assist her down from the carriage. Then she looked at Luo’er with a proud gaze.

"Princess, it’s too dangerous here. You should go back!" Seeing the girl coming down, the leading knight rushed over to urgently persuade her.

"Captain, isn’t your attitude towards our savior a bit rude?" The girl looked at the knight and said softly.

The command in her tone was so compelling that the burly captain lowered his head in spite of himself.

"What should I call you, sir?" the girl asked with grace.

"My name is Luo’er, an adventurer. Thank you, Your Highness!" Luo’er removed his hood and answered politely.

"You already know my status?" The girl looked at him, her face emotionless, but with a hint of a smile.

"Of course, I just don’t know your name." Luo’er humbly inquired, bowing his head slightly.

For some reason, he felt a vague unease facing this girl. Her faint smile obscured what she might be thinking, making it impossible for Luo’er to discern her character from her facial expression.

But Luo’er recognized that she was intentionally masking her expressions and tone. He was unable to glean any information from their conversations or their brief eye contact. Upon first meeting, she was inscrutable.

"My name is Melia Alaphasia, the princess of Masya!" The girl slowly revealed her extraordinary identity, a gentle smile gracing her face.

The princess’s identity fitted Luo’er’s suspicions perfectly – that the caravan was filled with wealthy elites. After all, not just anyone could afford a carriage warded with Level 4 Hybrid Defense Runes.

He noticed Melia observing him, and showed a touch of panic in response. He extended his hand in a Masyan gesture of respect, lowered his head, and said, "Forgive me, princess, for my ignorance. I did not recognize you!"
