Otherworld Advance Team
Chapter 1151 - 1144: Bird in a Cage

Chapter 1151: Chapter 1144: Bird in a Cage

"Luo’er," as he watched General Zhang leave, Lin Wei pulled Luo’er by the arm and brought him aside, then seriously said, "I know you’ve been wandering as the captain of the Advance Team, so you’re certainly not used to these situations. That’s okay, I understand. Indeed, it was too much to rush you into meeting the decision-makers. How about this, you go and get busy at the frontline Headquarters, work under Wang Xu and the others. That might relax you a bit. As for your squad, give them a holiday to do whatever they want. I also know you can’t sit idle, so how about you go and help out?"

"Thank you, leader!" said Luo’er gratefully.

"What leader? I’m younger than your dad, just call me Uncle Lin," Lin Wei responded with a pat on his shoulder and a smile.

"Yes, thank you, Uncle Lin," Luo’er nodded and said.

"Go on, and remember not to overwork yourself," Lin Wei advised.

Leaving Lin Wei, Luo’er headed to the Otherworld Gate in an autonomous vehicle. These unmanned vehicles were very common at Shenghua Academy, relying on artificial intelligence and the Beidou System to navigate independently.

Guided by its navigation system, the autonomous vehicle traveled across the vast plains and soon arrived at the Otherworld Gate. By this time, the area had become bustling; construction workers had directly routed pipelines through the Otherworld Gate into Lipei City, using them to pour concrete under high pressure.

The Otherworld Gate was divided into two sections, one side served as a construction passage while the other was primarily used for personnel movement.

He approached the personnel passage and saw a familiar figure slowly emerging. Hu Daoke was holding Olavia’s hand, carefully leading her and the other Olavia Sister through the Otherworld Gate to Earth.

"Boss!" Hu Daoke noticed Luo’er and excitedly cheered.

"Where are the others?" Luo’er nodded to the Olavia Sisters, then turned to ask Hu Daoke.

"Oh, Sister Moumou and Yue’er have been called to a meeting by Xia Yue, along with many of Earth’s experts, in Lipei City," Hu Daoke said.

"And what about Ziang?" Luo’er continued asking.

"Old Cheng, oh, he’s gone daydreaming," Hu Daoke shrugged as he spoke.

"Daydreaming?" asked Luo’er, puzzled.

"Yes, dreaming of becoming your brother-in-law," Hu Daoke explained.

"Alright, I think I get the picture," Luo’er nodded with a wry smile.

"What about the others?" he inquired after a pause.

"Oh, Little Fengye didn’t dare to come, so he stayed in Lipei. As for Old Cheng’s father..."

Before Hu Daoke could finish, a cry of anguish was heard from the distance. They all looked toward the sound, seeing two armor-clad Earth soldiers dragging an Aud person who was loudly struggling and shouting in broken Chinese, "I am from Headquarters, I’ve shed blood for Headquarters, I want to see Wang Xu, I want to see Li Si!"

"What’s going on?" Luo’er stopped the two soldiers, glanced at Yalunte, and asked somewhat exasperatedly.

The soldiers seemed to recognize Luo’er and patiently explained, "This guy, from out of nowhere, has been messing with our unmanned armored robots, riding on them and refusing to get off, even pulling down a drone that came to warn him."

"How could I know that thing would come off so easily, besides, last time I rode that big fella, you guys didn’t stop me!" Yalunte protested loudly.

"Calm down, Mr. Sword Saint, we’ll figure something out," Luo’er reassured him gently.

"Hurry up, Little Luo’er, remember to find Xiao Ang and tell him his dad has been taken away!" Yalunte said, his face downtrodden.

"I know," Luo’er awkwardly wiped the sweat from his forehead and then told the two soldiers, "Brothers, he’s from Headquarters, handle him gently. I’ll call someone over to sort this out. Take him away for now, and deal with him as necessary."

The two soldiers looked at each other, then nodded, "Alright!"

As they said that, the two continued to drag Yalunte away like they were dragging a dead dog. Even though Yalunte was quite strong, he was no match for the soldiers in external exoskeleton armors on Earth, and could only accept his fate.

"This is too embarrassing. He even dared to ask Old Cheng to bail him out. If I were Old Cheng, I’d have lost all face," Hu Daoke shook his head and lamented.

"Forget it, let’s not tell Ziang about this for now, I’ll go into the city and sort it out with Li Si," Luo’er said helplessly, shaking his head.

"Do you need my help?" Hu Daoke asked.

"Forget about it, we brought people to Earth and didn’t even take them for a proper tour. Go enjoy yourself, I can manage alone," Luo’er replied, patting his arm and smiling.

"Hehe," Hu Daoke scratched his head embarrassingly and said with a silly smile, "Then we’ll be off."

"Go ahead!" Luo’er waved his hand and nodded again towards the Olavia Sisters, then turned and entered the Otherworld Gate.

After a brief discomfort, he found himself back in the Otherworld. At this time, Lipei was clearly much livelier, as it was not only occupied by Otherworld people but also by many Earth workers who had come for jobs.

Much of the engineering work had been taken over by Earthlings, and the local Otherworld residents were gathered and systematically trained. This arrangement significantly sped up the construction progress of Lipei, and the basic form of the city was nearly complete.

The frontline headquarters had not yet moved over, so Luo’er could only do what he could, such as acting as a translator.

Lipei often received visits from Earth leaders, including quite a few high-ranking officials. Luo’er was the prime choice to host these individuals. Lin Wei was also intentionally grooming him, allowing him to increase his exposure and leave a good impression on the senior leaders.

With the opening of the second Otherworld Gate, the frontline headquarters immediately proceeded with the preset adjustments and completely relocated to Lipei, only maintaining a temporary office in Yazhi City to manage its operations.

Since the offices were not yet built, the headquarters had to temporarily use prefabricated houses as offices. Moreover, the doorplate was officially renamed as the Otherworld Office, marking the historical retirement of the name ’frontline headquarters.’

The office just had a name change; the personnel inside remained unchanged. Wang Xu was the director of the office, and Li Si was the deputy director.

A few days later, in the office, Wang Xu leaned back in his chair, sighed, then looked at Luo’er, teasingly asked, "Instead of climbing the ranks on Earth, why run to our little shrine?"

"Enough with teasing me, you know I’m not comfortable with that kind of atmosphere," Luo’er rolled his eyes and replied.

In front of Wang Xu and others, Luo’er always appeared relaxed, unlike how nervous he was at the last meeting. After all, Wang Xu could be considered family, so Luo’er was less cautious around him.

"How about I arrange you to be a Secretary General, so you stop running around? It’s time to settle down," Wang Xu said.

"Let me think about it..." Upon hearing he was being assigned to another position, Luo’er immediately frowned and lowered his head.

"Ah, I figured you wouldn’t let go. A bird accustomed to freedom won’t easily return to the cage," Wang Xu said, shaking his head sadly.

"Lin Uncle asked me to find some work to do here," Luo’er candidly replied.

"You’re calling him ’Lin Uncle’ now?" Wang Xu asked, a bit surprised.

"Should I hate him for life?" Luo’er asked rhetorically.

"Alright," Wang Xu nodded and then thought for a moment before saying, "Actually, this is perfect. The headquarters was just talking about setting up a militia organization led by subtypes from the academy. You can temporarily be the overall captain of these subtype militia leaders and manage these people."

"Eh, leading others..." Luo’er said, somewhat distressed.

"You’re already a leader of the Advance Team, don’t you know how to lead?" Wang Xu asked.

"It’s not that, it’s just my first time leading so many people, I fear making mistakes," Luo’er hesitated.

"Isn’t making mistakes very normal? It’s entirely new and exploratory; not making mistakes would be the bigger issue," Wang Xu spread his hands and said.

"I understand now!" Luo’er said with determination, nodding his head.

"Besides, I’ll go look for more missions that need outsourcing. I know you can’t stay put. But at the moment, headquarters already has enough Advance Teams, so it might be difficult," Wang Xu said.

"No, just finding something is enough, thanks a lot," Luo’er said gratefully.
