Chapter 1144: Chapter 1137: Return to Earth
"Cough, cough, cough!!"
Luo’er, who was cheering just moments ago, suddenly furrowed his brow and couldn’t help but crouch down, coughing violently. His actions caused Baiyue to tense up, and she quickly embraced him, asking with concern, "Luo’er, are you okay?"
"It’s nothing, it’s nothing, just got a little too excited..." Luo’er said with an embarrassed smile, waving his hand to comfort Baiyue, without telling her that his discomfort was caused by the Magic Power Erosion.
"It’s just temporary discomfort, it’ll be better after a few days back on Earth," Xia Yue said as she walked towards Luo’er with her hands behind her back and a smile on her face.
"Thank you, Lady Xia Yue, for helping us open the Otherworld Gate," Luo’er said, getting up from the ground and speaking gratefully to her.
Xia Yue was noncommittal to Luo’er’s thanks, she turned her head to look at the Otherworld Gate, then turned back and asked, "The gate is open, won’t you enter first?"
"Me?" Luo’er was stunned for a moment, glanced at the Otherworld Gate, then turned back to ask.
"Are you worried I messed up?" Xia Yue asked, tilting her head.
"Oh, no." Luo’er shook his head, then took a deep breath, turned, and faced the towering Otherworld Gate.
"Luo’er, I’ll go in with you," Baiyue said, holding onto Luo’er’s arm with a worried expression.
"Mm, thank you." Luo’er didn’t refuse but nodded at her instead.
"Let’s go, I’ll support you," Baiyue said as she helped Luo’er.
The two carefully approached the Otherworld Gate, the closer they got to the dazzling ripples, the more they felt dazzled. This was due to the visual disturbance caused by the ripples on the Otherworld Gate, also known as Crossing Dizziness. In severe cases, it could even lead to hospitalization.
Therefore, the best and quickest method to face the ripples of the Otherworld Gate was to put on sunglasses and quickly pass through without staring too much at the ripples to avoid dizziness.
Taking a deep breath and exchanging glances, Luo’er pulled Baiyue’s hand from his arm, then entwined their fingers. Feeling Luo’er’s intention, Baiyue’s gaze softened immediately, and a blush rose to her fair cheeks.
"Let’s go," Luo’er said.
"Mm," Baiyue responded in a blissful tone with her head down.
Then, Luo’er, holding Baiyue’s hand, stepped right into the ripples. The familiar yet still strange sensation of being pulled returned, as they felt their bodies stretched far and long, as if being drawn by some force.
This strange feeling lasted for less than a second, and then, they were dazzled by the bright sunlight shining directly upon them, in stark contrast with the gloomy rain at Lipei.
Struggling to adapt to the sudden change in light, Luo’er opened his eyes and saw the dense swarm of drones and manned aircraft floating in the sky.
He looked around and saw that they were already surrounded by armored vehicles and fully-armed soldiers, their gun barrels pointing ominously at them.
Seeing the familiar scenery and words, Luo’er didn’t feel fear despite the multitude of weapons aimed at him, instead, he waved his hand and shouted in Chinese, "Everyone, we’ve returned!"
What Luo’er said was like a bomb dropped into a crowd, causing an intense reaction. The unmanned armored vehicles’ red attack lights immediately turned green for safety, the soldiers put down their rifles, and began cheering loudly. Even more soldiers ran over to Luo’er and Baiyue, surrounding them.
"Luo’er! Luo’er! Luo’er!!" Chants of celebration erupted in front of the Otherworld Gate, as Luo’er was hoisted up by the throng of soldiers, tossed into the air again and again. Baiyue helplessly watched the helpless Luo’er, shaking her head and letting out a knowing smile.
Luo’er was thrown around haphazardly by the soldiers, with no chance to take in his surroundings or see where Baiyue was. Although he made a cry-like sound, he couldn’t fend off the enthusiastic soldiers.
After who knows how long, the soldiers finally let him down. Luo’er finally had a chance to catch his breath. Suddenly, like a receding tide, the soldiers parted, and a group of people approached from the opposite side of the gate. At the forefront was a kindly old man, flanked by generals with stars on their shoulders, including Luo Qishan and Lin Wei.
Besides the military officers and suit-clad security, there were also numerous media drones following them, hovering mid-air and broadcasting live.
Under the watchful eyes of all, the old man came to Luo’er with a smile. Although he looked amiable, he exuded a powerful presence that rooted Luo’er to the spot, his legs turning to jelly, unable to move.
"Luo’er, you’ve worked hard. It’s good to be home, good to be home," the old man said with a chuckle while holding Luo’er’s arm.
"Uh, oh, thank you, Grandpa, for your concern..." Luo’er didn’t know what else to say and could only stammer out a response.
"Your grandpa is over here, but you can call me Grandpa too, hehe..." the old man continued to laugh kindly.
"Oh, oh..." Luo’er’s brain didn’t react, and he nodded dully.
"In the future, you should spend more time with your grandpa," the old man continued.
"Yes, yes," Luo’er actually hadn’t listened to a word, just numbly nodding his head.
He didn’t even know how he got through what followed, what he himself had said. It wasn’t until the crowd escorted the old man away that he barely started to recover.
"Luo’er, are you okay?" At that moment, a familiar voice came from beside him, and when he turned his head, he found Baiyue had appeared next to him for some reason.
"Where did you just go?" Luo’er asked with a sigh of relief.
"Taking them in," Baiyue pointed towards the soldiers and experts continuously entering the Otherworld Gate behind her.
"Who was that just now?" Luo’er asked as if possessed by a ghost.
"From above..." Baiyue didn’t spell it out but instead pointed up towards the sky.
"I’m done for, I’ve made a fool of myself in front of the whole country," Luo’er said covering his face.
Soon, other members of the Advance Team also crossed through the Otherworld Gate back to Earth, reuniting with the two of them. Faced with this familiar yet somewhat alien world, everyone was very excited.
At that moment, a petite yet agile figure charged at Luo’er, and in an unnoticed instant, hugged him tightly. Tangmo was about to react, but his anger deflated the moment he saw who it was.
"Luoya, if you squeeze any harder, I’m going to cough up blood..." Luo’er said with a wry smile.
"Serves you right, why did you only come back now?" Luoya glared at him with furrowed brows and insincerely scolded.
"Are you getting used to it here?" Luo’er, who was accustomed to her tsundere attitude, continued.
"Not used to it!" Luoya said, frowning.
"Well, if you’re free later, visit mom more often. Now that Gate Two is open, you’ll probably have more time to get together in the future." Luo’er reached out to pet her head but hesitated.
"Have you seen her?" Luoya asked this, moving her head toward his hand, then continued.
"Passed by Ilanadale a few days ago, so I’ve seen her several times," Luo’er answered truthfully.
Hearing his words, Luoya didn’t know what to say for a moment, and she punched his chest hard.
"Ouch, what are you doing?" Luo’er asked with a pained expression.
"I’m mad!" Luoya huffed.
"I really can’t with you, being angry doesn’t mean you take it out on your brother..." Luo’er said helplessly. His personality made it impossible for him to hold a grudge against Luoya.
"Who asked you to leave me here all alone and not care?" Luoya said.
"Alright, alright, I was wrong, I’ll spend more time with you in the future. Happy now?" Luo’er conceded.
"That’s more like it." Luoya let go of Luo’er. Her gaze drifted unintentionally over the members of the Advance Team, eventually focusing on Cheng Ziang.
"What are you doing back here?" Luoya asked with a frown.
"Luoya, it’s not polite to talk to others like that!" Luo’er scolded, frowning.
"I missed you!" Cheng Ziang shrugged his shoulders and said with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Luoya seemed to be struck by lightning; her face turned beet red, and without hesitation, she turned and ran
