Otherworld Advance Team -
Chapter 1123 - 1116: Hit a Snag
Chapter 1123: Chapter 1116: Hit a Snag
"What’s going on, has the carriage been hijacked?" Tangmo exclaimed in shock.
They had just finished a battle, so when they heard gunfire, they instinctively thought of the fleeing hunters and couldn’t help feeling anxious.
"Fula, go check it out!" Luo’er called out urgently.
"Roger that, on my way!" Fulajie’er replied and flew towards the carriage.
"Don’t worry so much. That’s a deity of the world—what’s there to worry about her for?" Cheng Ziang said soothingly.
"I just have a bad feeling," Luo’er said weakly, unable to refute but still expressing his concern.
"You should worry about those who shot the guns instead," Cheng Ziang said with a relaxed smile.
Shifting the view back to Xia Yue, after Luo’er left, she sat quietly in the carriage eating the mixed rice. Although for her, eating with her mouth was an inefficient act, she still patiently tasted the food made by Luo’er in order to experience human life.
At the same time, she had to admit, Luo’er’s culinary skills were indeed quite remarkable, no wonder the advance team members liked Luo’er so much.
The coachman shakily got up from the ground, then grabbed the reins of the carriage. Xia Yue, not looking up, abruptly asked, "What are you trying to do?"
"Eh!" The coachman was startled by Xia Yue’s sudden question, his eyes darting around, and he said with little confidence, "Tha-that, I..."
"You want to run away, don’t you? You’ve taken their money, so if you run away now, what will they do?" Xia Yue’s voice wasn’t loud, but the tone was unusually cold, leaving no room for the coachman to argue.
"I’m still sitting here, and you quietly prepare to leave with the carriage. Are you planning to take me along? Do you think I’m still a child, who can be bullied at will?" Xia Yue continued her interrogation.
"I, I was thinking of driving to find them..." The coachman said with little conviction.
"Forget it. Just wait here honestly for them to come back," Xia Yue said indifferently.
Hearing her words, the coachman didn’t know whether to stand or sit, awkwardly holding the reins in place, looking at a loss.
In the distance, the gunfire of the advance team echoed through the forest, quickly filling the silence. But the gunfire lasted for less than ten minutes before ceasing, and suddenly the woods became quiet.
This was within Xia Yue’s expectations; she had read Luo’er’s memories, so she knew the advance team was accustomed to quick assaults. They used overwhelming firepower to force the enemy into retreat.
Most of the Otherworld’s armies had hardly received modern military training and were essentially feudal troops at their core. Faced with the powerful firepower of new weaponry, their morale was particularly prone to collapse. And on the battlefield, collapsing morale meant a one-sided slaughter.
Although in recent years, the quick assault tactics of the advance team had become less effective, that was because they were facing increasingly stronger enemies. Generally speaking, when confronted with the advance team’s tactics, seventy to eighty percent of Otherworld armies had no choice but to flee.
So, considering this, Xia Yue was not at all worried about the safety of the advance team; the cessation of gunfire signified that their battle had ended.
Xia Yue enjoyed her dinner by herself, and at the end, she put down her spoon and passed the plate to the coachman, saying faintly, "Please put the plate away for me."
"Oh, all right..." The coachman accepted the plate fearfully, daring not to resist.
Although Xia Yue appeared to be just a little girl, she was in fact a Wood Elf, and the coachman was well aware of this. According to the age of Wood Elves, it would be no problem for him to call someone like Xia Yue an aunt, so he couldn’t naturally treat her as a little girl.
Just as he turned to step away, he suddenly heard a commotion from one side of the jungle. Then, several Aud people sprang from the woods, with the lead Aud man brushing the dirt and rotten leaves off his body, turning back to curse and say, "What rotten luck, wasn’t the timing of the Wood Elf army’s patrol calculated correctly? How could we still be attacked?"
"Boss, maybe it’s not the Wood Elves. Look, there’s a carriage!" one of his subordinates exclaimed, pointing at the nearby carriage.
His voice drew everyone’s attention. Following his gaze, they found a petite and adorable Wood Elf girl sitting on the carriage.
"Just perfect, we set out and got nothing, even lost quite a few men, but looking at this lass’s quality, she should be worth a pretty penny." The leader said, with worry suddenly turning into joy.
"Boss, be careful. Looking at her, she’s got to be at least seventy or eighty years old, might not be easy to handle," a subordinate warned.
"Eh, don’t worry, Wood Elves only start learning magic at the age of a hundred. At her age, she’s just a little girl who knows nothing." The boss said, rubbing his hands excitedly before walking towards Xia Yue.
"You’re going to capture me and sell me into slavery?" Xia Yue looked up at him and asked leisurely.
"What do you think, little beauty?" The boss replied, unable to help himself from salivating, revealing a lustful expression.
"You look disgusting, are you thinking some dirty thoughts?" Xia Yue said with a slight frown.
"Hehehe, you won’t find it disgusting once I’ve kissed you," the boss grinningly said, exposing his yellow teeth.
"You people, do you all think with what’s below your waist?" Xia Yue shook her head and asked in a pitying tone.
"Yes, because that’s human desire!" The boss got within five meters of Xia Yue and couldn’t wait to pounce on her, having already violated the delicate Xia Yue countless times in his mind.
However, he quickly realized that no matter what, he couldn’t move a muscle, being suspended in mid-air in that pose, only able to speak.
Xia Yue extended her palm and, looking at him, smiled and said, "I’m sorry, I don’t like strangers entering my personal space, so could you please obey my rules?"
"What have you done to me?" The boss, hanging in mid-air unable to move, asked in horror.
"I’m just asking you to be a bit more honest, to show me a bit more respect," Xia Yue said, looking down at her palm, then lifting her head and squinting her eyes, "Gods are not to be desecrated."
"Gods..." The boss’s eyes widened, staring at Xia Yue in shock.
"Boss!" Seeing their boss trapped, the subordinates couldn’t care less, many of them hadn’t even thrown away their guns, so they quickly aimed at Xia Yue and opened fire.
In an instant, the woods were filled with the sound of gunfire. But it was of no use. Xia Yue didn’t move an inch, the horse wasn’t startled, and even the coachman holding the tray stood his ground without any intent to dodge.
It was not because the coachman and the horse were particularly brave, but because they, like their boss, were immobilized, trapped by Xia Yue within an invisible bubble.
Xia Yue quietly watched the approaching bullets. The bullets sped out of the barrels too quickly to be caught by the naked eye. But as they approached Xia Yue, they slowed down significantly, eventually hovering in front of her, unable to move forward.
Xia Yue leisurely extended her hand and closely examined the incoming bullet, which had clear rifling marks. She roughly calculated the bullet’s caliber and judging by the knowledge of firearms obtained from Luo’er, it was a 7.92mm Mauser rifle round.
Germany, as an old industrial power, although showing decline in the new century, still had strong industrial capabilities, and thanks to good after-sales service, German weapons were considered the finest in the Otherworld, their presence found from south to north.
Seeing that their shooting was ineffective against Xia Yue, the people panicked, realizing they had stirred up a massive problem, and consequently paid no heed to their boss, turning to run away.
However, they didn’t even have time to turn around before Xia Yue immobilized them on the spot, and they couldn’t move an inch. Although Xia Yue couldn’t kill people directly or interfere with most of the world’s affairs.
As the ruler of the world, her Ancestors granted her significant freedom, and within the framework of freedom, she could act freely.
For instance, she could trap these people and wait for Luo’er and the others to decide their fate. Whether they would kill or release them was up to Luo’er and his team, not related to Xia Yue.
