Chapter 1118 - 1111: Tana’s Outcome

Chapter 1118: Chapter 1111: Tana’s Outcome

When Luo’er awoke again, he found himself lying in a sweat-drenched heap on the cabin bed. His breathing was rapid as his eyes widened, and just as he propped himself up, Tangmo and Baiyue, anxious for his safety, immediately pounced on him with cries of relief.

"I thought she had killed you," Cheng Ziang said calmly, arms crossed at the doorway, although the flicker in his eyes betrayed his unease.

"I..." Luo’er muttered, subconsciously checking his body and finally heaved a sigh of relief upon finding he was unharmed.

"What on earth happened to you?" Tangmo released him and asked, worry etching her face.

"It’s nothing, it’s nothing..." Luo’er’s eyes began to flicker uncertainly whenever he thought about what had transpired in the dream, unwilling to meet Tangmo’s gaze directly.

"You’re definitely hiding something from us, come out with it," Tangmo implored intensely as she cradled his face in her hands.

"Really, it’s nothing..." Luo’er said, his lips pursed with guilt.

"You haven’t fallen for that brat, have you?" Tangmo asked gloomily.

"No way, how could I dare..." Luo’er shook his head.

After speaking, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, the salty sea breeze and the unpleasant odor inside the cabin still pervading the air. After clearing his head a bit, he looked around and asked, "Where’s Lady Xia Yue?"

"She’s on the deck, said she gets angry just from seeing you," Cheng Ziang answered with a shrug.

"What’s really going on between you and her?" Tangmo pressed, her furrowed brow revealing her suspicion.

"Nothing, really nothing. I need to find her, there’s something I have to ask her," Luo’er replied, somewhat disheveled, as he rose from the bed and ran toward the deck.

As he made it onto the deck, he saw Xia Yue standing at the bow looking out at the fiery red sky in the distance. Her bare feet seemed unbothered by the chill, the sea breeze causing her thin clothes to rustle loudly. The afterglow of the setting sun illuminated her, inexplicably endowing her with an ineffable sense of divinity. Perhaps it was only in moments like these that Luo’er could perceive her as a goddess.

"Awake?" Without turning around, Xia Yue sensed his presence just as he had emerged onto the deck.

"Yes," Luo’er responded softly, nodding, then walked hesitantly up beside Xia Yue, clearly holding back words. Eventually, he could no longer restrain himself and blurted out, "Umm, Lady Xia Yue, Tana, she..."

"You dare to mention her name? Aren’t you afraid of making me angry?" Xia Yue stared at the fiery clouds in the sky, her tone icy.

"Actually, you didn’t want to kill Tana, I know it," Luo’er said with courage.

"Oh? You think you understand me better than myself?" Xia Yue looked up at him with eyes full of indignation.

"It is said that when one is involved, they lose perspective, yet a bystander sees things clearly. I may not understand you, but as an observer, I see the truth," Luo’er spoke with earnest conviction.

Xia Yue didn’t immediately respond to Luo’er’s words, turning her head away in a huff.

"She’s alright, isn’t she?" Luo’er inquired tentatively.

"If you are so concerned about her, I might as well let her come keep you company," Xia Yue replied in a subdued tone.

"That won’t be necessary, it’s enough to know she’s fine," Luo’er said, his face flushing red as he hastened to wave off the suggestion.

Xia Yue glanced at him once more, sighing in exasperation, finding it difficult to grasp Luo’er’s line of thinking.

"Um..." Luo’er coughed a little before hesitantly saying, "The things that happened in my dream, I hope you will not tell the others, especially my team members."

"Would it be so bad for them to know? After all, your attitude seems to have changed now," Xia Yue said indifferently.

"Better not. If they knew, I fear they might think that I regard them as..." Luo’er, ashamed, abruptly closed his mouth.

"You have the nerve to do it but not to admit it? Should I call you brave or cowardly?" Xia Yue asked with a sneer.

Luo’er lowered his head, remaining silent.

"Luo’er," Xia Yue said, taking a deep breath as she looked skyward, "some things are like bubbles, unburst, keeping you from truly drawing near them. Without puncturing it, a gap will forever lie between you."

"Thank you for the advice," Luo’er nodded and said.

Xia Yue did not speak again but instead gazed dumbly at the horizon, eventually letting out a sigh of emotion, "A world without gods would probably be just as splendid as it is now."

After a day and night of sailing, the merchant ship finally arrived at the coast of Ilanadale. The ship lowered a small boat, which brought everyone to shore.

Xia Yue, barefoot, stepped onto the white sandy beach, with her hands constantly fiddling with her ears. Under her manipulation, her originally pointed elf ears became long and drooping, turning into Wood Elf ears.

"This is..." Cheng Ziang watched, dumbstruck.

"When in Rome," Xia Yue said calmly, with a shrug of her shoulders.

Her skin was not as dark as that of the Night Elves but resembled that of the Snow Elves, with a cold tone of pale. So with a little modification to her ears, she looked no different from a Wood Elf.

Her silver hair, which had nearly touched the ground, was intentionally cut shorter by her so that it just reached her knees, ensuring it didn’t drag on the ground.

The main reason for doing this was because they still needed to stay in Ilanadale and wait for the Airboat to arrive at Divine Wood Down.

However, the Advance Team had many concerns about this, mainly because they had just fled from Ilanadale, and returning now, they feared they might be walking into a trap.

For Wood Elves, the orders of the gods must be obeyed, so if they were caught by the Wood Elves again, even Luo’er being a member of Ilanadale’s royal family might not guarantee that they would not be dealt with.

Nevertheless, Xia Yue seemed quite calm about this, reassuring everyone not to worry too much and to proceed to Divine Wood Down with peace of mind. Seeing her so confident, everyone, despite their doubts, could only choose to follow.

After all, even if a conflict did arise, Xia Yue would certainly not stand by and watch them die. It should be known that she could almost be considered the most powerful person in this world, bar none.

She possessed the soul of a god and an undying body, making it impossible for her to be annihilated physically or mentally. Unless the world was destroyed, and the magic energy in the atmosphere was completely lost, in principle, True Gods like Xia Yue were almost immortal.

Moreover, what was even more important was that, as a product left over from a past civilization that had survived the Twilight of the Gods, it was likely that even if the end of the world came, Xia Yue would find a way to avoid extinction. This was the truly frightening and despairing aspect of her.

But fortunately, she was a True God, not a Human God. Regardless, she had to abide by the rules of divinity and could not behave arbitrarily like the Human Gods.

Also, because of the lessons from the Twilight of the Gods, the survivors Tana and Xiapei Kam were given a new task by the Ancestors: to prevent the birth of Human Gods in this world. Anyone attempting to become a deity would be eradicated by these maintainers of order.

"Is it really okay for us to head to Divine Wood Down so openly?" Cheng Ziang couldn’t help but feel anxious.

"Are you still worried about Tana?" Xia Yue asked.

"We were chased out last time," Cheng Ziang said, spreading his palms.

"Don’t worry, Tana will no longer target you; you’re safe now," Xia Yue assured.

"Why is that?" Cheng Ziang asked.

"Because..." Xia Yue said, and turned her head to glance at Luo’er, then continued, "Because she has been dismissed from her position."

"Dismissed? Gods can be dismissed?" Hu Daoke approached with a look of astonishment.

"Of course, I have the authority to deal with Tana as the Ancestors granted it to me. So even though we were born at the same time, I am still her leader," Xia Yue declared matter-of-factly.

"Is she still controlling this world?" Luo’er asked.

"Yes, this world still has many problems that require a deity like her to deal with. I merely stripped the Elf-related authority from her list of duties. The world still needs her to govern," Xia Yue explained.

As she spoke, Xia Yue turned her head to look at Luo’er and said with a smile, "By the way, I haven’t severed your connection with Tana; there’s no reason for her to intervene with you now. If necessary, you can try asking her for help; she might just come to your aid."

"What if she still tries to hurt Luo’er?" Tangmo asked with concern.

"What right does she have to harm a mortal when even I don’t possess such authority?" Xia Yue said with a shrug.
