Chapter 1077: Chapter 1070: Subverting Three Views
Indeed, just as Luo’er had guessed, the Advance Team heading to Divine Wood Down were sure to be intercepted by Tana’s forces, but Nina would definitely stand by their side without any hesitation.
Nina frowned thoughtfully, her head bowed, when suddenly, as if she’d had a realization, she lifted her eyes to Cheng Ziang and asked, "No, wait, the Priest said Tana wanted to intercept Luo’er because Luo’er plans to destroy Ilanadale. If it’s just about severing the link, that hardly seems like it would lead to the destruction of Ilanadale, right?"
"Auntie is indeed smart to have identified the crux of the problem so quickly," Cheng Ziang was taken aback for a moment, then said with a bitter smile.
"What exactly is going on?" Nina asked sternly.
"Uh, it might be best for Luo’er to explain this to you. After all, if we say it, it seems like there is really such an affair, and it’s better for Luo’er to speak, especially since he’s also an Elf," Cheng Ziang said, somewhat uncomfortably.
"What is it exactly? Why are all of you beating around the bush?" Nina furrowed her brows, even more puzzled.
After a while, Luo’er groaned, then slowly awoke. Seeing this, Cheng Ziang signaled everyone to leave the room, and before leaving himself, he handed the Soul Summoning Bell to Nina, telling her, "Auntie, hold on to this and give it a shake now and then to ensure Tana has no chance to interfere with Luo’er."
"This is..." Nina received the Soul Summoning Bell with a skeptical face, then shook it curiously.
The Soul Summoning Bell instantly emitted an entrancing, continuous sound that made Nina involuntarily shudder. Simultaneously, Luo’er’s eyes snapped open because of the ringing.
"Mom..." Upon opening his eyes and seeing Nina, Luo’er instinctively called out.
"You’re finally awake. You scared me to death," Nina said sincerely, holding back her emotion and refraining from embracing Luo’er.
"Was I being controlled again?" Luo’er said, propping himself up to sit up, then rubbing his head.
"They have already told mom about the situation, my child, you’ve suffered..." Nina said, her voice wavering, nearly breaking into tears again.
"It’s just a trifle," Luo’er said, smiling to comfort her.
"No trifles where you’re concerned, everything that happens to you is a big deal to me," Nina sniffed.
"I’m all right now, mom doesn’t need to worry so much," Luo’er continued to reassure her.
"Luo’er, your mother has heard about what you’ve been through this past year. Why does Tana say that you will destroy Ilanadale? What exactly are you trying to do? Why did you keep it a secret from me?" Nina grasped Luo’er’s hand, staring at him with a stern expression.
"Mom, if I said that everything I’ve done is for the Elf Race, would you believe me?" Luo’er turned his head away and fell silent for a moment before looking back intently at Nina.
"You’re my son, of course, I believe you," Nina responded without hesitation.
"Good," Luo’er nodded in relief, then said, "Then let me tell you, I need to go to Xia Yue Island to rescue Xiapei Kam. Would you think I’m trying to destroy Ilanadale?"
Upon hearing his words, Nina was taken aback, and then, pushing Luo’er away, she stared at him in disbelief, her expression turning to one of incredulity and bitterness.
"Mom..." Seeing her reaction, Luo’er attempted to reach out to her, but Nina quickly swatted his hand away.
"Don’t touch me, Luo’er, how foolish can you be? Don’t you know that Xiapei Kam is an enemy of Ilanadale?" Nina said bitterly.
"No, it’s not like that; Xiapei Kam isn’t an enemy of Ilanadale, she is just the enemy of Tana," Luo’er explained.
"Tana is Ilanadale’s guardian. Saying that Xiapei Kam isn’t an enemy of Ilanadale... Luo’er, whose side are you on?" Nina looked at him as she asked.
"Tana is not Ilanadale’s guardian; she is the culprit leading Ilanadale to decline!" Luo’er retorted without hesitation.
Facing Nina’s incredulous expression, Luo’er continued to argue, "Tana never thought about the future of Ilanadale. All her actions and thoughts were incredibly naive and ridiculous, filled with arrogance and prejudice. And it is this arrogance and prejudice that has turned Ilanadale into what it is today."
"Mother, look at all this. It’s the cooperation with the people of Earth that led to today’s events and Ilanadale’s progress. Mother, just think, if you were not the queen of Ilanadale, and I were not a person from Earth, would Ilanadale have reached this point today?"
"Ilanadale’s past was ruined, and I do not want its future to be destroyed as well. Mother, Mother! You are the princess of Ilanadale, and the future queen. As your son, do you think I would harm Ilanadale, when I too wish for Ilanadale to become strong and prosperous? Back in Yazhi City, as the captain of the Advance Team, I even told you where headquarters’ bottom line was. Was not all I did for the sake of Ilanadale?"
"And yet, now you are willing to believe in the so-called will of a ’god’ that harms Ilanadale, but not the words of your dearest son. In your eyes, it seems that gods are indeed more important, aren’t they?"
As Luo’er spoke, he gazed at Nina with eyes brimming with emotion. His sincere look made it difficult for Nina to bear watching, causing her to shamefully divert her eyes.
Nina lowered her head and remained silent for a long time. Eventually, she approached Luo’er, sat back down at the bedside, and reached out with trembling hands to grasp Luo’er’s wrist. She then looked at him and said, "Tell mother what you know. Mother believes you; I trust you wouldn’t deceive me."
"Thank you, mother?" Grateful for Nina’s renewed trust, Luo’er was so moved he almost lunged forward to embrace her.
After a moment of reflection, Luo’er recounted everything that had happened over the past few months in Snow Domain, including the Ancestors, the origins of the Elf Race, and Tana, the guardian of the Elf Race.
After hearing Luo’er’s words, Nina’s body shook even more violently, her heart severely shaken. Swallowing with difficulty, she took a deep breath and asked tremulously, "Are you saying that Elves are destined to integrate with other races and cannot remain isolated?"
"It’s not like that, mother. Think of it this way: it’s not the Elf Race assimilating into other races but the Elf Race turning other races into a mixed race with Elven heritage," Luo’er reassured.
"But this is too unbelievable. Why would the Elf Race actually be a tool created by the Ancestors to improve the Human Race?" Nina said, shaking her head.
"That’s the reality, mother. Avoiding it is pointless. Instead of that, why not accept the truth and turn a disadvantage into an advantage?" Luo’er said earnestly, holding Nina’s hand.
"So, Tana has been deceiving us all. If the Elf Race continues to maintain its pure bloodline, then the result would be extinction?" Nina asked in disbelief.
"Yes, the various restrictions of the Elf Race have led to their need to interbreed with other races. If we persist in chasing this so-called purity of bloodline, the final outcome will be extinction," Luo’er nodded in affirmation.
"But the fact that Tana is a tool of the Ancestors is just too..." Nina said, unable to believe it, shaking her head.
"There’s nothing strange about that, mother. Both Tana and Xiapei Kam are tools used by the Ancestors to guide the Elves. Such tools are common on Earth and not hard to find in this world. I even have one," Luo’er explained.
"You have one too?" Nina’s eyes widened in surprise.
"Come out, Fula!" Luo’er said as he extended his palm and gently called out.
With his call, a delicate little girl appeared quietly on Luo’er’s palm, sitting there swinging her legs playfully and tilting her head as she looked at Nina.
Nina stared at the nearly transparent girl before her, and suddenly, she shivered with fright, instinctively retreating several steps with a look of panic on her face.
"Don’t worry, mother. This is Fula, one of our companions. As you can see, she is a kind of god, a so-called Demigod," Luo’er explained.
"Ah, Luo’er, I think I scared your mother," Fula said, looking back at Luo’er anxiously.
"It’s okay. Go apologize to her," Luo’er said softly.
Upon his suggestion, Fulajie’er blinked, then flew up from Luo’er’s palm to hover in mid-air, slowly approaching Nina. Upon reaching her domain, Fulajie’er smiled and greeted, "So, Luo’er’s mother, sorry for scaring you on our first meeting."
