Chapter 1044: Chapter 1037: Feng’s Worries

Listening to Cheng Ziang’s criticism, Luo’er and Baiyue exchanged a glance, then somewhat shamefully lowered their heads.

Cheng Ziang looked towards Chief Feron, and then said seriously, "Chief Feron, Luo’er is unwilling to say it, but I will. If you want to settle in Lipei, you must prove your worth. We are not a charity; we cannot save every person from the Otherworld. If you want the headquarters to favor you, you need to have something impressive to offer. Do you understand?"

"Understood!" Chief Feron nodded.

"Good," Cheng Ziang nodded in satisfaction, then turned to Luo’er and said, "Luo’er, arrange it. As quickly as possible, find valuable materials to submit to headquarters to apply for settlement rights in Lipei for Meila Village. This is the urgent matter at hand, and everyone should cooperate, whether they are from the Advance Team or Meila Village."

"Okay," Luo’er pursed his lips in thought, then lifted his head and looked around at everyone, "The target is only a little more than ten kilometers from the village, it’s a small operation, so there’s no need for the whole team to go. It would be best to move with light gear. Hmm, let me think, Little Ke will stay behind in the village for defense, to prevent another Beastman attack. Then, then, Feng needs someone to look after him... Moumou, are you willing to stay?"

Tangmo didn’t speak but looked sullen, pouting; although she didn’t take a stance, her expression said it all.

"Moumou, be good," Cheng Ziang said, "Aside from taking care of Feng, you have another important task, which is to protect the Prime Fluid and not let that Night Elf steal it away."

"Why would she steal the Prime Fluid? We aren’t saying we won’t go to Xia Yue Island," Tangmo asked somewhat foolishly.

"Are you stupid," Cheng Ziang said helplessly shaking his head, "Our presence in this operation itself is dispensable. It’s precisely because we possess the Prime Fluid that Talis must unwillingly work with us and travel together to Xia Yue Island. Think about it, if she had a chance to steal the Prime Fluid, she could just take off; why would she bother staying here wasting time with us?"

"Oh, that makes sense." Tangmo nodded in sudden realization.

"Throughout this time, Talis has been showing resistance, the foundation of our cooperation isn’t strong, we can’t guarantee she won’t do something like that," Cheng Ziang continued.

"Then why not just tie her up?" Tangmo asked discontentedly.

"It’s not right to harbor intent to harm, but we must be cautious. What you’re suggesting is far too extreme," Luo’er said with a wry smile, shaking his head.

At this moment, the three Elves were in Feng’s room, only separated from Luo’er and the others by a wall. But since they were communicating in Chinese, even if their voices were loud, they didn’t need to worry about Talis hearing them.

"In any case, our main force stays in the village, and we’ll take only a few people with us," Cheng Ziang said.

"But what if you run into magic issues? Yue’er isn’t particularly knowledgeable in that area," Tangmo said, as she turned her head and glanced at Baiyue.

"Hmm, let’s have Aunt Axia accompany us. After all, she is also a Mage, and having lived so long, she probably has more experience than you," Luo’er decided after some thought.

"It seems that with Aunt Axia around, you hardly need me anymore..." Tangmo said a bit morosely upon hearing Luo’er’s words.

"I didn’t say that. Aren’t separations and reunions normal for the Advance Team? It’s just a temporary parting, don’t make it sound like a matter of life and death..." Luo’er comforted her.

Cheng Ziang shook his head and gave Luo’er and Tangmo a white look. Sometimes he really admired Luo’er’s patience; if he were the captain, he would have reprimanded Tangmo for her persistent annoyance a long time ago, yet Luo’er managed to calm her down, a point Cheng Ziang admitted he couldn’t match.

After proper arrangements, Luo’er decided Tangmo and Hu Daoke would stay to guard the village and take care of the injured Feng, while he led the remaining people, including Aunt Axia and guide Taran, toward the valley to search for the remains of the Overturning Beast and to see the so-called Beastial men with their own eyes.

Once the orders were given, everyone busied themselves with preparations. Luo’er planned to depart early the next morning and aimed to return within the day.

After dispersing, Luo’er felt somewhat disturbed and went to Feng’s room, where he gently knocked on the door and only entered after getting a response.

At that moment, Feng was sitting on the bed, wrapping herself with a cup in her hands. Tangmo and Axia were sitting at the head of the bed and standing beside it, seemingly checking her injuries.

On one side of the bed, clothes were neatly stacked, almost certainly belonging to Feng, which meant...

"Ah, Luo’er!" Seeing that Luo’er was safe and sound, Feng was very excited, and she reached out to him with her pale, tender arms.

"Oh no, you haven’t put on your clothes yet, don’t stretch out your hands like that!" Seeing this, Tangmo quickly grabbed her arms and stuffed them back under the blanket.

"Uh..." Luo’er stood on the spot awkwardly, and after a slight cough, he said, "If you knew I was coming in, why didn’t you dress her..."

"I still have to examine her later; taking clothes off and putting them on is very troublesome, and you don’t mind anyway, right?" Tangmo said, looking at him.

"I do mind..." Luo’er said with a wry smile.

"I don’t mind..." Feng tilted her head, deliberately contradicting Luo’er.

"Her injuries are not serious, right?" Luo’er stood politely in place, not taking a step forward.

"Sigh," Tangmo exhaled, then said, "As long as she doesn’t run magic power, there will be no problem. This juncture blocked the pathways from Feng’s Dantian... or rather, from her Qitian to her arms. It’s basically ruined her completely because whenever Feng wants to use magic for an attack, the magic power must travel along this path, flowing from the Qitian into the arms."

"Ah, it’s okay then, everything else is just trivial..." Luo’er nodded, finally breathing a sigh of relief.

No sooner had he relaxed than he heard Feng’s sobbing. He lifted his head and saw Feng with her head drooped, weeping softly, with large tear drops spilling over from the corners of her eyes and falling onto the blanket.

"Hey, what are you crying for if everything’s alright?" Luo’er panicked when he saw Feng suddenly crying.

"She’s afraid that after becoming useless, she’ll be abandoned by the Advance Team..." Aunt Axia explained from beside them.

"Hey, who’s been talking nonsense to her? That’s not true at all, I didn’t say I would abandon her, did I?" Luo’er hurriedly clarified.

Tangmo stroked her head to comfort her, then turned to Luo’er and said, "This girl heard that you wanted her to return to base and thought you didn’t want her anymore, so she has been crying since just now. It wasn’t easy to console her, and then you arrived."

"Seems like my timing really wasn’t great..." Luo’er scratched his head and said.

"Never mind," Tangmo shrugged, then stood up from the edge of the bed and said to him, "Now that you’re here, you might as well explain things properly to her. She takes everything I say as just consolation, no matter how I persuade her, it’s useless."

As she spoke, she turned to leave with Axia, giving the two of them a chance to talk alone. When she reached Luo’er, she suddenly grabbed his arm and looked at him reproachfully, "I really like Feng, and I treat her as my own sister. You already have a lot of girls; don’t set your sights on her too!"

"What are you even talking about, I don’t have that many girls..." Luo’er spread his hands, looking innocent.

"You know what’s in your heart. It’s because I trust you that I’m letting you two be alone. Don’t betray my trust..." Tangmo said, releasing Luo’er’s arm and walking towards the door with Axia.

"Hold on, can’t you help her put on her clothes first?" Luo’er turned to call out after them.

Hearing his call, Tangmo turned around, shrugged, and said, "A gentleman remains composed in the presence of chaos, why panic?"

As Tangmo spoke, Axia sent him a meaningful look and a teasing smile crept onto her face before she left the room with Tangmo.

"Sigh..." Luo’er sighed deeply, then after pondering for a moment, turned and walked to Feng’s bedside, before sitting down.

Feng had unconditional trust in Luo’er, and at that moment she was sadly wiping her tears away, not noticing at all that she was inadvertently revealing too much.

Luo’er only glanced once, then picked up the blanket to cover her body, and while comforting her, he gently rubbed her small head.
