Chapter 37: Chapter 37 Starting Anew, I’ve Got You Covered
The black background and white text on the computer screen stood out sharply.
H stared at the words on the screen, his legs trembling uncontrollably.
A very brief message had lingered on the computer screen for over an hour, making H itch to immediately call his close brother for help.
"If you’re starting over, I’ve got your back. — R"
If the other party hadn’t initially performed like this in front of H, he might’ve simply thought the person was a fake R.
After all, R was a figure synonymous with chaos and fame in the entire hacker community.
R, short for Red.
The incredibly short name was enough to shake the entire circle upon its appearance.
As the owner of that name, Hong hadn’t heard any news from Ji Yu or Tian after wrapping things up on H’s side. Seeing the tide of slanderous messages piling online, he was seething with rage.
He wanted to return.
For a moment, the urge to return intensified, but then he remembered Ji Yu forbidding him from coming back after her marriage three years ago. Eventually, he held back.
Meanwhile, overseas, Lu Xingchen had just finished a month-long secluded training session.
To secure a role under a renowned director, he had specifically traveled to a private island abroad for intensive coaching.
It wasn’t because the domestic environment wasn’t good, but because he didn’t want his fans to find out prematurely about projects he wasn’t entirely confident in.
After all, in his view, raising expectations only to deliver disappointment was too dreadful.
As a well-known actor, Lu Xingchen couldn’t allow such a situation to occur.
"Xingchen, Yu is in trouble!"
Lu Xingchen’s agent, upon seeing the news about Ji Yu online, had been eager to inform him. However, considering his dedication to this particular role, the agent waited until the day Lu Xingchen completed his training to break the news.
"What happened?"
Taking the phone handed to him by his agent, Lu Xingchen’s tone held no urgency as he asked.
At that moment, he wasn’t aware of what was brewing on the internet. But after seeing the information online, his originally refined expression darkened significantly.
Especially upon noting the timestamp of the earliest posts, Lu Xingchen’s voice turned severe.
"Why are you telling me about this a week later?"
Fully aware of Ji Yu’s significance in Lu Xingchen’s heart, the agent didn’t dare respond to his anger.
He had acted in consideration of Lu Xingchen’s career, believing Ji Yu would understand.
But before Ji Yu could understand, the agent naturally had to bear the brunt of Lu Xingchen’s frustration.
Though questioning him sharply, Lu Xingchen hadn’t expected a reply from the agent.
After a brief exchange, Lu Xingchen glanced at the time and dialed a number he hadn’t called in three years.
When Ji Yu married three years ago, she had almost severed ties with all her friends. It wasn’t that she particularly loved Gu Qixiao.
After all, she hadn’t even seen him much in those three years.
But to consider her husband’s reputation and avoid potentially messy situations, she had taken precautions before her marriage.
As a result, over the past three years, only Feng Qinqin and Tian had stayed by Ji Yu’s side.
Even Hong, who had been recuperating abroad, was mostly taken care of by Tian during that time.
Ji Yu, who had just woken up from exhaustion, was preparing to step out of the lounge. Upon realizing it wasn’t too late to grab food from the cafeteria, she excitedly wanted to head over for a meal.
But just as she had quickly tidied herself up, her phone began to ring.
The name Lu Xingchen appeared prominently on the caller ID, and Ji Yu stared at it in a daze for a long while.
The name Lu Xingchen was one she hadn’t seen or heard for quite some time.
"Yu, are you okay?"
After the call connected, Lu Xingchen wasted no time on pleasantries, directly asking about her well-being.
The straightforward question left Ji Yu briefly stunned.
Then, guessing that he was referring to the news from a week ago, she couldn’t help but feel a mix of irony and resignation.
After all, it had been quite some time since the incident, and only now was Lu Xingchen contacting her.
"For now, it’s unclear who’s behind the incident, but I’m fine."
Having scrolled through the past headlines, Lu Xingchen had noticed the statement released by Chongxin Industries. But knowing Ji Yu was the actual boss behind Chongxin, he didn’t probe further.
After confirming that Ji Yu was unharmed, he asked about her current state. Learning she had just woken up, he decided it was best to end the conversation.
"Go eat something quickly. I’ll deal with the situation online, so don’t worry too much."
Ji Yu, who hadn’t felt too strongly about the entire matter, casually responded before heading to the cafeteria.
For Ji Yu, who had just finished an intense surgery and rested for a while, her hunger was at its peak.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say she felt like she could eat an entire cow.
If she hadn’t been worried about upsetting her stomach, she might have genuinely tried.
When Ji Yu arrived at the cafeteria and saw Tian sitting alone, she quickly grabbed her food and joined her. Noticing Hong on Tian’s phone screen, a small smile appeared on her lips.
Tian, still unaware of Ji Yu’s presence, was listening to Hong’s grumbling over the video call. It wasn’t until Hong exclaimed in surprise that Tian realized Ji Yu was standing right behind her.
"Sister Tian, I’m telling you, I’ve been so angry lately! If it wasn’t for Sister Yu’s orders, I would’ve returned home immediately."
"Do you have any idea how outrageous and infuriating they’ve been?"
"Huh? Sister Yu’s here?!"
Hearing Hong’s exclamation, Tian turned to find Ji Yu holding her tray. The two quickly struck up a casual conversation.
As for Hong on the video call, neither of them wore earphones, effectively ignoring him.
"This surgery was particularly intense; how are you feeling?"
While performing surgery on Dion, Ji Yu had noticed his recovery was progressing well, and the operation could be completed within a week.
Since the assistant surgeon had been decided in advance and the procedure required excellent coordination, Ji Yu—who hadn’t used an assistant before—entrusted the role to Tian.
After the surgery ended, Ji Yu, feeling too fatigued, had forgotten to ask Tian how she had been holding up.
She wasn’t too worried, however. After all, Tian didn’t handle much of the operation, focusing only on closing stages of the procedure.
In fact, during the final two surgeries, Ji Yu had managed on her own, insisting Tian take proper rest.
That strategic workload meant only Ji Yu ended up so exhausted that she’d slept nearly a full day.
"I can manage."
Ever since learning of Ji Yu’s expectations, Tian had been diligently studying related skills, afraid of falling too far behind to perform future operations independently.
Meanwhile, on the other end of the call, Hong, seeing how engrossed they were in their conversation, grumpily ended the video call in silence.
But at the same time, on the remote island abroad...
"Xingchen, what you’re doing isn’t right!"
