Chapter 149: Chapter 149 Grievance

"All these things you’re saying are completely useless. I’m a rational person. If I don’t need something, I simply don’t need it."

What I do need, I will treat seriously and responsibly.

But clearly, these people seem to have something wrong with their heads. No matter how I look at it, I don’t need to treat them with politeness.

"I hope you can leave as soon as possible and stop disturbing my life. I am an independent person, not some whoever from your family. Using this kind of method to restrain me—frankly speaking, you’re not qualified."

To have people who I’ve never even met approach me with such an attitude—it shows their arrogance.

Ji Yu’s expression started to show signs of impatience, especially seeing them trying to persist. She simply took out her phone and called security over.

"Please leave immediately."

They were somewhat shocked by Ji Yu’s demeanor.

The man, knowing that continuing like this would lead to embarrassment, handed Ji Yu a business card. "My name is Lin Wenyan. You can contact me directly if you have anything in the future."

"Thanks, but no thanks." Ji Yu wanted to return the card, but for some reason, the man turned and left without taking it back.

"Sister Yu, should we go after them?"

The security guards seemed unsure of what to do.

Ji Yu rubbed her temples, feeling slightly annoyed. "You don’t need to worry about it. Just stop them if you see them in the future."

Against people like this, who have power and influence, this was the only way to handle the situation.

Ji Yu casually tossed the business card into a nearby trash can, no longer intending to pay any attention to the matter.

But apparently, whether deliberately or not, they failed to understand her rejection, as they dared to show up again the very next day.

"This time, I’m not here to reconnect with family. I’m here to ask you to perform a surgery."

"Get in line." Ji Yu didn’t even look up.

She didn’t know how they had found out her information, but since the request had already been made, they’d better obediently wait in line.

Lin Wenyan frowned, obviously displeased with Ji Yu’s attitude. "She’s technically your cousin. Can’t she get priority?"

"I don’t even acknowledge you, and now you want to stick a ’cousin’ label on me? Don’t you find that laughable?"

Whenever this kind of situation occurred, her response was consistently the same: refusal.

Besides, given the way they were acting, could they truly not see it for what it was?

"No matter what, the fact remains that you are related by blood. Can’t you at least evaluate her condition and schedule the surgery?"

"I’ve already said: get in line." She still didn’t understand how they managed to so blatantly ignore what others said.

Did they really think this was somehow amusing?

"Frankly speaking, I find your way of thinking to be ridiculous. If you want medical treatment, queue up like everyone else. Isn’t that normal protocol? Are you trying to threaten me?"

Her attitude was steadfast regardless of who she dealt with. Even Gu Qixiao had to persist for a long time before she finally agreed to operate on Song Xuan.

"I wasn’t trying to threaten you." Lin Wenyan simply felt that Ji Yu’s personality had major issues.

"If you’re not, then go get in line properly. How many more times do I need to repeat myself?"

To her, situations like this were utterly exasperating.

As it happened, Gu Qixiao had also heard about the situation and, knowing Ji Yu’s temper, suspected she would lose her cool. He quickly came by to see how things were going.

"What are you doing here?" Ji Yu looked at the seemingly endless stream of trouble coming her way and felt her headache worsen.

If these people had even a shred of logic, they wouldn’t be using tactics like this.

"I heard the Lin family was here. I was worried there might be some kind of conflict between you." He glanced at Lin Wenyan with a scrutinizing look.

Lin Wenyan, frowning all the while, didn’t appreciate being stared at like this. "And in your eyes, the Lin family would do something to harm her?"

The Lin family, truthfully, just wanted an explanation. Yet, the situation now painted them as a bunch of bullies.

Ji Yu sighed. "A family like yours surely can’t be missing one child. So, why must it be me that you’re fixated on?"

She couldn’t help but feel the situation was incredibly strange. Did this child hold some extraordinary value for them?

"And after all this time, you’re only now searching for the child who went missing? What does that child even mean to you?"

She didn’t understand and didn’t care to understand. Could they even begin to explain themselves clearly?

For a moment, Lin Wenyan didn’t know what to say. The truth was plain as day. Even when he first encountered this situation, he had been bewildered.

"I have no idea why the Old Master wants to bring you back, but I hope you’ll at least try to get to know our family."

"There’s no need; I already know them." She still remembered Lin Chujian’s actions vividly. Even if those events were astonishing, not once had she spoken ill of their family.

Now, the circumstances were just absurd and baffling.

"I really don’t know if one of you is playing the good cop and the other the bad cop, but your actions are severely disrupting my life."

To Ji Yu, this entire ordeal was just a burden. Sometimes, things needed to be resolved straightforwardly; otherwise, when things became awkward, whose fault would it ultimately be?

"This situation is already a mess for me, so I sincerely hope you can allow me some space and stop giving me trouble in this way."

Lin Wenyan let out a helpless sigh. "As for the surgery, I hope you’ll at least consider it. We wouldn’t expect you to do it for free."

"Well, thank you so much, but that’s not something you need to concern yourself with." She looked at the man before her, finding it amusing how thoroughly he misunderstood the situation. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be making such statements.

"Look at yourself in the mirror, and you should be able to understand the current nature of our relationship. A patient pays a doctor—that’s a given. Beyond that, I have many patients, and for surgery, you’ll need to wait your turn."

Shouldn’t something like this be common sense?

Why did it seem, in their eyes, like an act of charity?

"If you’re expecting a free handout, go find someone else. Besides, I’ve made myself perfectly clear about the surgery. You assume that just because you claim to be my family, and because of your wealth and power, you can cut in line."

As she said this, Ji Yu glanced briefly at Gu Qixiao. Back then, Gu Qixiao had behaved the same way, in retrospect, it was actually quite laughable.

"Go ahead and mull it over on your own. I’ve said all there is to say. What you choose to do next—I’m sure you know perfectly well."
