Chapter 103: Chapter 103 Contentment

She was fairly content with these results.

But she was also curious as to why Gu Qixiao had prepared so much.

"Of course, I want to do everything for you perfectly."

He knew very well what Ji Yu needed.

Plus, this situation had originally dragged Ji Yu into it for no apparent reason.

"Since they’re causing you trouble, they’ll have to pay a price."

And so, Ji Yu unexpectedly received one percent of the shares.

Honestly, it was kind of funny.

"What are you planning to do about Sun Shou?"

Ji Yu didn’t want Gu Qixiao to dirty his hands over such a person.

"Relax, I’ll just have him detained for a few days. He’ll return on his own after that."

He didn’t have any intention of dealing with Sun Shou. Besides, he still had to continue courting Ji Yu, so naturally, he had no time for such concerns.

Ji Yu took these matters seriously, but deep down, she worried that if things kept progressing this way, she might actually end up liking Gu Qixiao.

That evening, Ji Yu directly invited Feng Qinqin to a hotpot restaurant, intending for Feng Qinqin to scold her into clarity.

"Isn’t this a good thing? He even helped you gain those shares. If it were someone else, they’d be over the moon by now. Why do you still look so unhappy?"

Feng Qinqin thought it was an undeniably great situation.

"Just think, not only can you piss off the Sun family, but you can also lie back and earn money from their pockets. Isn’t that fantastic?"

Though that’s how it was said, Ji Yu was afraid that the person who gave her these things might end up finding his way into her heart.

"I don’t want to owe anyone favors."

"This doesn’t count as owing a favor. If it were me, I’d definitely help you handle this too." She was serious about the matter, worried about how best to arrange things moving forward.

Besides, Ji Yu shouldn’t suffer any losses in situations like these.

"You just overthink everything. If you didn’t have such high morals, you’d have already duped Gu Qixiao until he didn’t know which way was up."

Ji Yu chuckled. Such deceit wouldn’t accomplish anything—it would inevitably reveal one’s truest self eventually, so why bother?

"I know I don’t like him, which is why I can firmly refuse. But honestly, the shares thing did surprise me, and I am grateful for his help."

Even Feng Qinqin developed a newfound respect for Gu Qixiao after this incident.

"To be honest, I think you two suit each other quite well. That silly, lovestruck side of him only appears around you—it’s proof that Gu Qixiao’s got a love-struck personality."

These days, who doesn’t want a lovestruck partner?

"But I don’t want to muddle into a relationship with him again so carelessly."

Their marriage back then—a matter Ji Yu hadn’t been able to fully come to terms with even now.

"Besides, he still has so many unresolved issues around him. Even if I wanted to be with him, I’d have to think everything through first."

Her delicate face carried a trace of conflict, her brows knotted in deep thought.

"Honestly, this might be the first time a man has ever caused you this much bother," Feng Qinqin teased Ji Yu mercilessly.

But deep down, she mulled over whether Ji Yu might truly need someone to take care of her.

"You might not be in trouble right now, but who knows what’ll happen in the future? Having someone by your side could really be a good thing."

Though it didn’t necessarily have to be Gu Qixiao.

Ji Yu said nothing but began pondering the idea.

They all understood that some decisions couldn’t be made impulsively, or everyone involved might end up suffering.

"I brought you here to knock some sense into me, but it turns out you’re even quicker than I am to shift your stance."

Feng Qinqin had already had a few drinks, her face flushing slightly. "You wouldn’t understand—I don’t even know how to explain it—but after dealing with Cai Xun, I’ve realized that some men are simply impossible to get along with."

That’s why she felt that Gu Qixiao, who was protecting Ji Yu, was a good man.

At least when the two were together, Ji Yu wouldn’t be mistreated by others.

"You’ve already got Gu Qixiao wrapped around your finger. What’s there to worry about?" She simply felt that Ji Yu and Gu Qixiao were a perfect match.

At least she wouldn’t have to overthink all those inexplicable issues.

"Honestly, Gu Qixiao may be a bit silly, but everything else about him is pretty good."

Ji Yu remained silent, her expression tinged with hesitation. Seeing her in this somewhat dazed state, Feng Qinqin grew concerned about her safety and personally took her home.

On the way, Feng Qinqin, possibly under the influence of alcohol, clung to Ji Yu and started crying. "Yuyu, I really wish I had someone to protect me too, but the ones I meet are all jerks."

She cried pitifully, her emotions swirling with no way to calm them.

Ji Yu frowned, unsure how best to address Feng Qinqin’s feelings. "You’ll meet someone."

"That’s how I comfort myself too, but I still feel awful. Yuyu, if you meet someone who treats you well and likes you, don’t hesitate—don’t wait until it’s too late."

She cried heartbreakingly, but deep down, she mostly hoped Ji Yu wouldn’t end up like her.

Ji Yu sighed lightly. "I know, but you shouldn’t keep dwelling on this either. Cai Xun isn’t worth it."

She understood that while Feng Qinqin didn’t bring up certain things, it didn’t mean they hadn’t happened.

"Who said I care about Cai Xun? The person I care about will never even notice me." She waved her hand dismissively, trying to appear carefree.

But the current situation seemed far beyond her control.

She cried harder, her anguish apparent. "Yuyu, why am I so unlucky? If only I could be like you."

Part of her genuinely envied Ji Yu.

Yet she knew that her best friend’s good fortune deserved blessing. "Yuyu, do you think I should go pray at a temple to turn my luck around?"

Ji Yu was exasperated, though a faint smile tugged at her lips. "Are you resorting to superstition now?"

"How is this superstition? It’s my unwavering belief in love!" Feng Qinqin declared firmly.

Talking about this made her stop crying; she now appeared numb to the whole ordeal.

"I’ll go pray tomorrow—you never know, it might work." She was already leaning heavily into superstition.

Ji Yu didn’t know what to say but could only hope she’d soon find her own happiness.

"Yuyu, will you bless me?"

"If the person you find treats you well, I’ll naturally bless you. Don’t give up just like that." She gently soothed Feng Qinqin’s feelings.

She also knew that these days had been tough on Feng Qinqin, so having some time to vent like this was probably for the best.

At least it might spare her from encountering any more unwanted entanglements.

"As long as you’re happy, I’ll absolutely wish you the best."
