Chapter 67 - 63 Giant Dragon Attack
Chapter 67: Chapter 63 Giant Dragon Attack
First, hundreds rose from the ground, and then word spread swiftly from ten to a hundred, from a hundred to a thousand, and thousands to ten thousand. At last, tens of thousands were awakened in the night. All slaves who had been building the colossal statues took up arms as the slave rebellion exploded with a fierce intensity.
The slaves massacred the overseers who had been supervising them, in the name of God. They tore down the fences that surrounded the work area and seized everything they could. Among the slaves were many who had once been glorious Hunters in the Kingdom; they besieged the city-states where they were located, assaulting their defenses with stones and sharpened wooden spears.
The nobles who controlled the city-states panicked, hastily organizing people to resist the slaves’ onslaught and suppress the rebellion.
The guards clashed with the slaves, countless stones arced through the night sky like a light rain, spears intercrossed under the starry sky, and scalding blood poured onto the ground.
"God has left us!"
"Because you replaced God with idols and enslavement with love."
"God has left us, and we, God’s children, need to bring God back!"
The slaves, unified by Dertulian, roared. In the name of God, they resisted the oppression of the nobles, also carried out in God’s name.
Chaos engulfed the city-states. Dertulian led the slaves in their assault against the guards’ defenses. They wept and raged, breaking through the guards and taking the high-standing nobles captive or putting them to death.
The fires of uprising were ignited within the city-states. Disarray and panic were rife everywhere, and eventually, the slaves took control of the entire city.
Dertulian stood with the slaves at the highest point, gazing out at the distant sea.
After stirring up a riot, even King Yarlessto, however benevolent, would be unable to hold back the nobles’ wrath. To maintain rule, a great number of slaves would have to be executed as a burial offering for the deceased nobles.
Therefore, Dertulian decided to lead these people away from here.
To leave the Logos Kingdom and head over the sea, seeking the direction where God resides.
God’s departure did not mean that the people of Logos did not need God.
On the contrary,
It was precisely because God had left that God’s children needed even more to return to God’s side.
Antion appeared beside Dertulian. He had already discussed the uprising with Dertulian and planned to take advantage of the night to advance towards the Palace, compelling King Yarlessto to allow the Unihorn to accompany them as they left.
Without a doubt, almost everything had gone according to plan, from inspiring the slaves to revolting against the oppression of the nobles to seizing the whole city-state and capturing the remaining nobles.
Indeed, their action surpassed their plans.
Antion also gazed out at the sea, filled with a confident resolve, vowing to find where God was.
Boom!
A deep, thunderous roar came from the valley.
It sounded like the cruel call of an Earth Dragon hunting its prey. Dertulian turned his head.
Then, he froze in place.
In the distant firmament, a figure beat its gargantuan wings, nearly obscuring half the sky, its terrifying face turned towards the Logos Kingdom, toward the city-states of the Logos people.
"What is that... a dragon... is it a dragon?"
The slaves heard the distant dragon’s roar, their faces turned pale, and the joy of victory faded, leaving them aghast.
"A dragon! It’s a dragon!"
"The dragon is coming! Oh, God, it’s going to destroy us!"
The slaves suddenly plunged into chaos. The terrifying figure drew closer, and the people on the ground became like boiling water, cries bursting forth one after another.
The Giant Dragon seemed to notice the Logos people below and let out a cruel sound, plunging towards them at an even greater speed.
Dertulian’s body swayed, but he quickly regained composure, while Antion next to him collapsed on the ground in fear.
The Prophet’s second son clenched his jaw. Usually silent and reserved, he now loudly commanded:
"Prepare! Take up your spears!"
"I am the descendant of Al, son of the Prophet Dertulian!"
To stabilize the hearts of the people, Dertulian no longer hid his identity. He stood at the highest point, with a sharp spear in hand, commanding the masses like a king.
The slaves looked up to him at this moment, and as a priest, Antion quickly stood up. As a priest, he vouched for Dertulian.
"God watches over us, how can the son of God, who triumphs over death, fear a Giant Dragon?"
Dertulian issued orders, then leaped down from on high, as all eyes watched him pass through the crowd to the forefront.
The Giant Dragon drew nearer and nearer, and Dertulian closed his eyes, subconsciously returning to the era when the gods were still present, when the forests were ever hiding wild beasts, and a moment of carelessness could mean burial in peril.
The blood of bygone days boiled within him, as the glory of hunting prehistoric beasts once again fell upon him.
He suddenly opened his eyes, focusing on the approaching Giant Dragon Aus.
"Oh God, look upon me as you did my father."
Dertulian murmured, turning back to look at the people, raising his spear high and crying out,
"Slay the dragon! For God, slay the dragon!"
With those words, Dertulian charged toward the Giant Dragon fearlessly, thrusting his spear at the onrushing beast.
The spear glinted with cold light, aimed straight at the Giant Dragon, whistling through the air.
...
Shan’en noticed Dertulian on the ground.
"Son of the Prophet, descendant of Al..."
Shan’en murmured, gazing at the man.
Soon, the Thunder God confirmed his identity; Dertulian was indeed the son of the Prophet.
Abstinence, tenacity, reticence, determination, piety... Shan’en saw each of these radiant virtues in the man.
A soul forged of lightning stood upon the earth, and the Thunder God could not help but rejoice, for this was unquestionably the one He wished to choose.
Just as the father of the gods had chosen Al, so too would He choose among the mortals of the earth in the manner of His father.
"The time has not come yet, not yet..."
Shan’en temporarily restrained His joy, waiting for the Giant Dragon Aus to bring destruction to the people of Logos.
It was only when the descendants of Al were utterly exhausted and steeped in despair that He would manifest a miracle.
The Prophetic God Kagawus now stood beside Shan’en and noticed His pleasure.
Kagawus also looked favorably upon Dertulian, who was leading the people against the Giant Dragon Aus.
But since Shan’en intended to choose, Kagawus turned His gaze away from Dertulian.
Then, the Prophetic God saw the young priest Antion.
Unquestionably, he was a priest of the utmost piety, longing to find God.
Kagawus raised His hand, ready to bestow upon this priest a Divine Revelation, a prophecy.
The brilliance of the prophecy descended from the Celestial Kingdom, and in a neglected corner, with great speed, it fell upon Antion.
Thus, the arrangements of the gods were made.
Next,
it was time to wait for the Giant Dragon Aus to give Dertulian and the Logos people who followed him a crushing defeat, to bring down a great calamity.
