Chapter 449: Chapter 394: Ascension Long Steps
Slaier from the past once again faced Lady Misery.
Last time, he found Lady Misery in the Bone Church, but he was defeated in the struggle and could only watch as Lady Misery escaped and sealed the time-space rift of the Bone Church.
However, as Mira seized the opportunity to severely wound Lady Misery, the time-space rift of the Bone Church was opened once again. Slaier, who had been trapped in this place for a long time, exerted all his strength and seized the moment to step into the time-space rift.
Lady Misery gasped continuously. Her usually calm gaze suddenly rippled. Two Slaier from different times stood in front of her. If it had been one Slaier, she might have coped, but dealing with two gods of lies and deception was no ordinary challenge.
Slaier from the past did not give her a chance to think. His lips parted slightly and he uttered,
"You will get better, this is a lie."
As his words fell, the power of deception and lies acted upon Lady Misery, causing her body, which was rapidly repairing itself, to suddenly halt.
Lady Misery’s eyes hardened, and Gatekeeper Slaier made his move too. The purple mist surged over, seeming as if it would pierce Lady Misery in the next moment.
Calmly, as the purple mist rushed toward her face, she caught it barehanded. She lowered her head, as if lamenting her own suffering, and the previously sharp and elongated Purple Mist Gun slowly dissipated. An indescribable terrifying power flowed from the mist to Gatekeeper Slaier.
Gatekeeper Slaier’s face contorted fiercely. He clutched his head and began to fall downward then suddenly turned around and attacked his past self.
A melee erupted just like that.
.........
.........
Mira came into contact with the black mist enveloping Anos.
The latter, like a swamp, devoured Mira’s soul.
The Primordial Church sacrificed souls to initiate this Ascension ceremony, carefully selecting those powerful souls which converged at the center of the ritual through blood.
Mira herself intended to be a sacrifice so that she could enter into the ritual.
The dense black mist enveloped Mira’s soul, and the sensations around her became elusive and ethereal, nearly isolating all her senses. Mira felt herself moving upward with other souls, continuously ascending until they crossed the Mortal World and reached the Celestial Kingdom with its vast starry sea.
The night sky was so serene.
Soon after, Mira saw the stars vast as a sea of smoke.
Mira gazed into the distance, spotting the deep red Historical Star. At its core, strands of Primordial Power continuously converged towards a certain point.
That point was a palace made of gold.
To be precise, it was a false Golden Hall located underneath the city, once on the surface of the Historical Star, but now supported by the mighty power of the Six Gods, standing amidst the starry sea. This grand structure, as majestic as during the zenith of the Golden Age.
Mira saw that the Primordial Power stolen by the Six Gods over hundreds of years was now continually converging into dark staircases, forming a pathway leading to the Golden Hall, vast and majestic.
Standing atop those lengthy stairs was a figure.
Anos.
She was draped in a purple and scarlet imperial robe, wearing a coronation gown, with a scarlet crown symbolizing the supreme power of the Human Empire shining brightly in the starry night. The grand Golden Hall approached closer with each step up the stairs.
With each step, her figure became more solemn and regal.
Mira soared up, darting out from the dense collective of souls, and after a while, she stepped onto the grand staircase of Anos’s Ascension.
From afar, the staircase seemed a mere thin line, but upon stepping onto it, it was as wide as a church.
Anos heard the footsteps behind her.
The Primordial Power continued to converge into the long steps, gathering more slowly than the Six Gods had mentioned.
For some reason, Anos felt an indescribable unease.
She slowly turned around and once again saw a familiar figure.
"Indeed it is you... Mira."
The Co-ruling Emperor looked down upon Mira,
"So tenacious you are, even now, do you still seek to stop me?
Can’t you see that the power of both the Mortal World and the Gods will gather in my hands today?"
Mira looked up, her face resolute as she stepped up the stairs,
"Anos,
it’s time to let go.
You won’t get everything you desire."
Anos watched her coldly,
"Do you intend to take all this from me?
Just as you once wanted me to forsake everything to comply with your wishes?"
Mira didn’t stop her stride,
"If I could, I wouldn’t want to take anything from your hands.
But if... this is what you desire, then I must destroy it."
Anos’s gaze was like the ice of an Ice Age, cold and silent, devoid of any warmth. The Golden Heart completely occupied his heart; in the face of Mira, he felt nothing but obstruction.
Mira’s gaze was firm, as always,
"You are so annoying, yet so memorable."
Anos said, stepping forward.
The distant Thunderbolt Star now shone brightly.
In the palm of Anos’s hand, pale lightning gathered.
Lightning exploded across the wide stairs, a massive storm emerging from Anos, rolling mightily toward Mira.
Now, through Ascension, she had gained the recognition of the Thunderbolt Star, enabling her to wield the power of ancient Divine beings.
Mira did not retreat but advanced further.
Those splendid wings unfolded, brilliance burst forth, and in a blink, they transformed into blades that slashed upwards, dividing the massive thunderstorm, the roar of the thunder filling the air.
She was Mira, created by the Love God Lian Xidi with his own Divine Power and Angel Grace, endowed with the mighty power of the Gods and the brilliance from Heaven.
Anos didn’t halt his assault; he raised his hand, and thousands of pale lightnings converged in his palm, rotating and colliding, ultimately fusing into a monumental Thunder Spear. At this moment, the Co-ruling Emperor on the stairs seemed almost like the Divine King.
The Thunder Spear was thrown instantly, flying with tremendous force, the sounds of breaking air all around, and even space itself slightly warped.
The lightning-adorned Thunder Spear folded its leap, bypassing the division of the light blades, and shot unstoppably towards Mira.
Mira chanted:
"Rosa."
Time slowed down again.
As the Thunder Spear approached, Mira raised her hand and chanted in the Ancient Language again:
"Isaya."
The destiny of the Thunder Spear became distorted, halting mid-air; beads of cold sweat appeared on Mira’s forehead, her hand gently touching the Thunder Spear, the surrounding lightning slowly retreating as if subdued by Mira.
Mira twisted its destiny.
