Chapter 447: Chapter 392: Ascension Ceremony (Extra)
The judgment and the ritual were almost concurrent.
Anos stood at the center of Lake Heart Island, waiting for the path to ascension to open.
Everything was ready.
The centuries of waiting by the Primordial Church, the long-standing expectations of her parents, the long-cherished desires of the Six Gods—these, all of them, would be realized with her own ascension.
Anos was well aware of what she would gain and what she would lose.
She would gain the identity of a divine being, and the world would tell a tale unprecedented—a mortal ascending to divinity, reshaping the old orders, revered as a king by the Gods, far surpassing the mere status of an Emperor.
And what she would lose—her innermost feelings, and Mira, were just trivial matters.
She had long weighed the gains and losses, so how could she hesitate now?
Beside Lake Heart Island, the tall figure of the Lady of Sorrows stood, statue-like.
Blood spread across the lake.
The Co-Ruling Emperor walked up to the altar.
The patterns on the altar were intricate, with the ceremonial circle engraved on the stone altar, and the various herbs required for the ritual had already been made into a paste, smeared in all the designated spots.
The Lady of Sorrows moved; she lifted a basin of water and walked up to Anos.
It was a basin of blood water.
The Co-Ruling Emperor dipped his hands into the blood water, and within moments, the flesh from his hands dissolved, leaving only stark white bones exposed.
Anos remained unmoving as if devoid of any sensation.
The Lady of Sorrows bowed her head, reciting a prayer with utmost devotion:
"My God, my yet unborn God, I beseech you, may your form appear soon, protect all that is ours, show your capabilities, fulfill our endeavors..."
During the lengthy prayer, the blood water that had dissolved the flesh of Anos was slowly poured over the altar, seeping through the entirety of it.
Then, a thick black fog burst out from the patterns of the ritual, quickly engulfing everything in sight of Anos.
The dense black fog nearly submerged heaven and earth.
It had existed before the separation of heaven and earth, obeying the will of the Primordial, shrouding the world in its embrace during the ancient times, isolating heaven from earth because of its presence.
It came from the Ancient Chaos and even today, it continued to envelop the entire Celestial Kingdom.
The chaos engulfed Anos, without any emotion of its own, and now Anos was equally devoid of emotion.
Blood came from the lakeside, converging towards Lake Heart Island, swirling, merging, like the whirlpools of a vast ocean.
Chaos filled the eyes of the Co-Ruling Emperor... various visions emerged.
Ancient colossal trees twisted and spiraled, ancient windstorms raged, the earth moaned endlessly, the rain was entirely pale; in that age, even the Logos people were but newly fur-shed Apes.
The Holy Tree planted on the mountain, the luminous figure stood firm; from high above, the small Logos people below appeared like ants, an ancient desolation permeated every corner...
Then a massive apocalypse arrived in a flash, with the sea roaring, the land tearing apart...
The history of numerous eras flooded into Anos’s eyes, just as the divinities of old traced the past within the Historical Star; tales of thousands of years unfolded without omission, revealing the Prophet’s death, witnessing the Gods’ War, seeing the arrival of destruction, and also the descending of Heaven...
Finally, all visions froze over the burning Golden Hall.
Anos witnessed innumerable sights indescribable in words, scenes even the Gods would find unbelievable, magnificent beyond imagination.
The burning Golden Hall appeared in her sight, a long path unfolded in front of her, a path leading to absolute power; by reaching its end, the scepter in her hand would extend beyond the mundane powers of the Human Empire, symbolizing the great royal authority over the celestial gods and stars of the Celestial Kingdom.
That long and sacred staircase, at its end lay the supreme throne.
Ascend it, command the stars,
Ascend it, lead the assembly of gods.
In the quiet darkness, the Co-Ruling Emperor stepped onto the grand staircase, his gaze calm and nearly indifferent.
............
The Lady of Sorrows furrowed her brows.
She gazed towards the distant lakeshore.
There lay the believers, kneeling with their heads bowed, not knowing how many had died; even those still alive were barely hanging on.
A flickering figure rapidly flew through the darkness.
As blood converged towards Lake Heart Island, resembling pathways, the souls being sacrificed followed these bloody paths in the lake towards the center of the ritual.
The Lady of Sorrows’s gaze sharpened; she recognized who it was.
She took a step forward.
It was a soul.
A pure, unimaginably powerful soul.
The soul’s name was Mira.
Mira dashed forward, determined to thoroughly destroy the ritual.
The Lady of Sorrows raised her hands, now she had to maintain the progression of the ritual, unable to leave Lake Heart Island, only her fingertips threaded with silk, their mere sight enough to cause tremendous pain.
Those silk threads pulled at someone, and moments later, a figure shrouded in purple-black fog emerged from beneath the water and floated mid-air.
The God of Lies and Deceit, Slaier.
To be precise—this dimensional, corrupted Slaier.
And Slaier from the past, previously repelled by the Lady of Sorrows, who temporarily sealed the crack in space-time after this.
The purple fog-shrouded Slaier lifted his eyes, looking towards the approaching Mira.
Mira took a deep breath.
Last time, she was defeated by this God of Lies and Deceit, falling off a cliff, and Anos, who had followed her, returned to the Primordial Church, accepting the status of a Primordial Messenger.
But this time, the past will not repeat itself.
No longer the old Mira,
she is... the Messenger of God, one who acts upon God’s will.
Mira’s gaze was resolute,
"Anos, wait for me.
My will, still surpasses yours."
