Chapter 419: Chapter 370: God, Will You Destroy It?
Lian Xidi pleaded with God to reveal her daughter Mira’s destiny.
Chen Yi did not comply with Love God’s wishes.
No matter how Love God exhausted all methods to plead, Chen Yi remained silent.
However, Lian Xidi was a very determined mother.
Chen Yi did not prevent Lian Xidi’s incessant pleas.
He knew that for a mother, it was a terrifying thing not to know the future of her child.
But this did not mean that Lian Xidi should grasp Mira’s future.
"Lian Xidi, even if I tell you now, one day, you will regret it,"
uttered Chen Yi softly from the throne.
Upon hearing this, Lian Xidi leaned forward and shook her head:
"God, how could I regret?
As long as you are willing to tell me, then whatever happens, the responsibility is on my shoulders.
I implore you to tell me, I will never regret it, even if Mira were to hate me for it."
Chen Yi shook his head with a wry smile.
Lian Xidi, who hadn’t noticed, continued to beseech God in a low voice,
"My God, I beg for your mercy.
Of course, I know you are forever merciful, but this time, I wish for your mercy to belong only to me, to allow me to know my child’s fate, and to fulfill a mother’s small wish.
And no matter what the future brings, I will not regret it."
Lian Xidi’s voice was very soft; as she spoke, she kissed the back of God’s hand with the air of an angel swearing her eternal loyalty.
Love God’s countenance was so pitiable.
Chen Yi watched Lian Xidi.
"Lian Xidi, my Lian Xidi."
"You do not understand what regret is, just like Mira does not understand death."
The gentle words of God fell into Lian Xidi’s ears, so easy to comprehend at first, yet upon closer thought, seemed to elude capture in their subtlety.
Lian Xidi could not grasp the subtlety.
But God continued,
"The abyss of regret will not be filled by a mere oath, and once the expanse of memories is torn asunder, it remains constant as the sun and moon.
Clouds descend into fog, fire rises into smoke, but fog does not become cloud, nor does fire reside in smoke. Everything lies in the past, but never returns."
Lian Xidi listened intently, knowing that God was refusing her, yet Love God was unwilling, wanting to refute all those gentle maxims and revelations.
"No, God, no, you said: ’Everything lies in the past, but never returns.’ But you returned, you came back from slumber and brought the day of rebirth."
Lian Xidi denied it fervently, Love God’s emotions running high, intent on challenging whatever God said, all to achieve her own goal, to behold her daughter’s fate.
Love God knew that it was better not to experience things that were not understood, and also knew that in mythological stories, before the time of regret, people always say they do not regret.
Almost all myths happen this way, yet Lian Xidi felt she would be the sole exception.
Lian Xidi truly wanted to know Mira’s future, Love God yearned to know her daughter’s fate, the mother could not accept an obscure and uncertain future for her daughter, regardless of what might happen, good or bad, Lian Xidi wanted to know.
From the throne above, Chen Yi sighed.
At his will, he could make this mother abandon the idea of probing into her daughter’s future without her even realizing it.
But he would not do so.
He had witnessed the revolution of the starry river, the transformations of myriad years of wind and cloud, the whole world once enshrouded in darkness when everything nowadays taken for granted had not even been named.
Now, all things have names, stars vie for brilliance in the night sky, countless races propagate and thrive upon the earth.
He could hear everyone’s prayers, count every hair on their heads, and knew everyone’s future destiny; he knew all this, but unless necessary, he never interfered thus.
After a long pause, Chen Yi softly asked,
"Lian Xidi, then what, apart from me, can return?"
Love God paused in surprise.
For a moment, Lian Xidi couldn’t think of anything, unable to argue back at anything.
Slowly, the mother bowed her head, beseechingly kissed the back of God’s hand, her eyes full of longing for Mira’s future.
.........
No matter how Lian Xidi pleaded, Chen Yi never revealed Mira’s fate.
After a long while, the Love God saw that Chen Yi’s heart was set and left the throne in despair.
God gazed at Lian Xidi’s receding figure.
After an indeterminate amount of time, He slowly stood from his throne and said softly,
"Come forth."
The heavy clouds began to roll, and shortly after, Schiller emerged slowly from the churning clouds.
The Great Angel stepped forward, glanced back at the direction Lian Xidi had left, and then knelt on one knee before God.
"God, that seal, I have looked upon it."
Schiller reported so.
The seal he mentioned naturally referred to the seal of the Primordial Will in the Historical Star.
"God, those deceitful stars have actually... built a city in the depths of the Historical Star."
There was a slight tremble in Schiller’s voice, the Great Angel was quite enraged,
"How rebellious that is, should you send down your wrath, I will be your sword to smite the stars!"
Chen Yi chuckled softly, shaking his head,
"Schiller, I know your loyalty.
But do not be hasty, that mission is not yours."
Upon hearing this, Schiller’s eyes flickered with disappointment.
If that mission did not belong to oneself, then to whom did it belong?
That person...
Lian Xidi’s daughter, Mira?
Schiller’s knee trembled slightly, his eyes revealing a flash of envy.
No matter the reaction of the Great Angel, God saw it all.
Chen Yi extended his hand, gently resting it on the Great Angel’s shoulder,
"Schiller, I know your troubles.
It is just not yet the time."
Hearing these words, Schiller blushed shyly at first, followed by a surge of joy from the heart.
The Great Angel rebuked himself internally,
Schiller, what an envious Angel you are!
Then, the Great Angel couldn’t help but be filled with anticipation for God’s arrangements.
God withdrew his hand, gazing into the distance.
"God... those who utilize the stars of the Primordial, what will you do with them?"
Schiller asked aloud.
"Schiller, if I wish, everything is easy."
Chen Yi said so.
He himself was no longer the same as when he had first arrived.
Schiller lifted his face, looking up at God who stood gazing into the distance.
In the distant past, Ancient Chaos covered the land, separating the heavens, and apart from the Primordial Will, there was no ruler of the world.
How terrifying the Primordial Will once was, nearly destroying the entire world, yet now in God’s eyes, it was no different from those stars of the Celestial Kingdom.
"God, will you destroy it?!"
Schiller suddenly thought of something and inquired excitedly,
"Will you destroy that source of Doomsday?!"
