Chapter 378 - 334
Chapter 378: 334
The two attendants somewhat uncontrollably argued back loudly against Mira’s words, their hands shaking as if their ears had heard something that should not have been heard.
The steward also appeared somewhat grim-faced, evidently reacting to Mira’s words.
Mira didn’t understand and said directly,
"That, of course, means resurrected together, all in that instant—men and women, old and young, rich and poor, all resurrected at the same time with no distinction."
The faces of the attendants darkened even more. They wanted to vehemently refute something, but probably considering the Princess standing behind Mira, they held their tongues, the words stuck in their throats.
The steward’s hands trembled a few times, and the amiability on his face was very stiff, nearly failing to maintain.
This brazen girl was practically a little heretic!
Anos sighed. He should have foreseen this; Mira was a foreigner with an unknown background. The education she had received and the theology she knew were all different from those of the Danschel people.
He had been running around for Mira but had neglected this problem, a real oversight.
Anos pulled Mira’s shoulder and said to the steward,
"We can go up on our own, just leave the things at the door, and may God bless you."
The steward nodded stiffly; he didn’t want to stay here any longer. Fortunately, he had been here long enough and had seen quite a few audacious scholars, so he didn’t explode in front of the Princess. After responding, he respectfully bowed to Princess Anos.
"Then, Your Highness, we will take our leave."
Having said that, the steward didn’t linger. The attendants closely following behind him occasionally cast glances back at the outspoken Mira.
Watching their figures retreat, a hint of dissatisfaction crossed Mira’s face as she mumbled,
"What’s wrong with them? Everyone was resurrected together for sure."
Hearing this, Anos said, resigned,
"Mira, you must learn to follow the local customs. Here, the only correct doctrine is the one jointly promulgated by the Pastor and the Emperor, for it is sanctioned by God. Be careful, don’t mention what you’ve learned before. Either keep your thoughts to yourself, or tell me, but don’t let them reach your lips."
Mira seemed somewhat unconvinced, pouting,
"But facts are facts."
Anos unconsciously brought the back of his hand to his forehead, his gestures elegant, and said with some headache,
"Hmm... have you witnessed it with your own eyes?"
"I..."
Mira choked up, of course, she had not witnessed it herself; she had heard it from the Angels.
But she couldn’t reveal her origins, and, for the time being, she muttered, unable to say anything further.
Anos patted Mira’s shoulder, soothingly saying,
"If that’s the case, please try to restrain yourself."
As the words fell on her ears, Mira nodded somewhat reluctantly.
Mira and Anos arrived at their assigned estate. This street was specially rented to students who came to study at Thousand Cities Academy. The decor of these estates was, of course, not ordinary, carrying a strong early Empire vibe without losing elegance amid a grand atmosphere, with double-headed eagle-embroidered tablecloths on tables, and the tableware edged with gold.
Like a child’s annoyance that comes and goes quickly, Mira curiously inspected every detail, like a cheeky country student.
In her eyes was a curiosity for the mortal world’s affairs.
Although she had seen many mortal stories while following her mother when she was young, she had not learned to observe the details then. No matter what she saw, she would gulp it down whole without considering, but now she wanted to carefully observe everything.
Anos took off the light purple shawl from her shoulders, neatly folded it, and placed it on the bed. The estate was two-storied and even included a small loft; it was one of the best in the street.
After Mira had looked around to her satisfaction, Anos called out to her,
"Mira, it seems you have a good grasp of Ancient Language."
Mira turned around and looked at her with a touch of confusion.
"Why bring this up all of a sudden?"
The Princess gazed directly at Mira, curling into a polite smile,
"There’s nothing, I was wondering, whether your Ancient Language Studies are well mastered."
"What is Ancient Language Studies?"
Mira grew even more confused. She crouched down and looked up at Anos from below.
"Is that so? It seems you don’t know what Ancient Language Studies are."
Anos’s hand touched her lips, appearing as if to absentmindedly bite her thumb— a habitual gesture when she was thinking.
"Then what is Ancient Language Studies?"
Mira pressed.
"In short, it’s a field that focuses on the study of the Ancient Language. It involves researching various languages to reconstruct the earliest Logos language and ultimately derive the Ancient Language bestowed by God."
After Princess Anos explained, she added:
"The Ancient Language is a grace from the era of Prophet Noen, dating back thousands of years. Over time, even the long-lived Elves have languages that differ greatly from the ancient Logos language."
Mira had an epiphany and murmured:
"I see!"
Seeing this, Princess Anos asked further:
"Mira, can you tell me where you learned your Ancient Language from?"
Mira immediately shook her head upon hearing this.
She couldn’t possibly say that she had learned it directly from God in Heaven, could she?
"Is that so..."
Princess Anos said, not surprised by this.
Then, looking at Mira who was hugging her knees and looking up at her, she said:
"Well then, you’ll be starting school tomorrow. Congratulations, Mira."
Mira nodded vigorously, her hair swinging up and falling back down.
"As you can see, I may come off as a bit arrogant in how I treat others. Please forgive me."
"Not at all, not at all."
Mira felt she had nothing to complain about.
..........
When night fell, Mira went to sleep in her own room after washing up. Princess Anos stood in front of her bedroom door. The girl had not only left the door open but hadn’t even closed it partially. The princess had never seen such a defenseless person.
"Mira, your origins... they really do arouse curiosity."
Watching Mira, who was fast asleep in a spread-eagle position wearing only a thin garment, the Princess murmured.
In her sleep, Mira unconsciously scratched her belly.
Anos shook her head with a smile. She didn’t know what kind of environment could have raised such an innocent girl.
The girl looked as though she came from a wealthy noble family, but what family would let a girl roam around so carelessly?
"Could she be a divine envoy?"
After saying this, Anos shook her head again.
Ever since the descent of Heaven three thousand years ago, whether it be the Lord or other Gods, their presence had become a rarity in the world.
It was as if they had all withdrawn at once.
Of course, it might also be possible that the era when divine spirits walked the earth was nothing but a collective fantasy of our ancestors.
After all, Anos had barely heard of any divine miracles all her life.
Moreover, as a princess of the Empire...
She had almost no faith in the divine.
After all, she had a heart of gold.
