Chapter 301: Chapter 259: What is the Meaning of the Friendship of the Divine?
Within the Celestial Kingdom.
Wine God Sibos was immersed in the dense grape wine, as beautiful maids knelt by the side of the bath, patiently waiting, they all were creations of the Wine God on Earth—half-human, half-goat, Satyrs.
A maid plucked the strings of a lyre, playing a melodious sonata, in this palace akin to a sea of wine and forest of meats, Sibos indulged in the fine wine and beautiful women, along with the unparalleled delights which are seen in the mortal world but unattainable.
"Sibos."
A faint, distant call came from the far-off Mortal World, gently landing upon the ear of the Wine God.
After traversing the vast distance, this once loud and desperate call now seemed so minuscule, yet the Wine God’s brow still involuntarily furrowed tight.
The voice originated from His offspring, those demigod Satyrs He left upon the Earth.
Sibos suddenly stood up from the bath, his sculpted body dripping with grape wine, sparkling in the light.
"Is that voice... Hiero?"
Sibos recalled who the owner of that voice was, his own grandson, the son of his youngest.
Just as the families in the Mortal World often have a special affection for the youngest son,
Among his many sons, Sibos also favored his youngest, Pedro, the most.
Under the principle of loving all associated, Sibos, who seldom paid attention to grandsons, also took special notice of Hiero.
Now, Pedro’s son, Hiero, faced danger and, in this moment of true need, called out his name.
"However, what sort of danger would cause a demigod to call on me..."
Muttering to himself, Sibos speculated while raising his hand, the grape wine water beside him instantly surged, wrapping around Him, and then in the blink of an eye, His entire figure disappeared, as if melting into the water.
....................
Upon the Earth.
Solamus held two souls in his hands, quietly awaiting the arrival of an uninvited guest.
Both souls wailed in Solamus’s grasp, the female ghost’s plight being particularly tragic, the holy essence of the Angel caused this deeply resentful spirit to feel unbearable pain from mere proximity.
Furthermore, now held in Solamus’s hand, he intended to let her experience the despair of being tortured with no escape.
Solamus slowly walked deeper into the Secret Forest, drawing closer to the dwelling place of the Satyr and the female ghost.
A simple yet charming two-story wooden house, a small vineyard, with the surrounding woods cleared, not a single leafy tree to obstruct the sunlight; the grapes thrived in the abundant light. Inside the beehives, a buzzing could be heard.
And behind this wooden house, there was a rush of flowing water; Solamus looked toward it, it was a clear spring, originating from its source, the sound of water striking pebbles, refreshing to the ear.
Looking at the modest yet somewhat cozy scene before him, no one would imagine that living here were a female ghost and her husband—a demigod Satyr.
Solamus picked a grape, carefully examining the quality of this grape, Satyrs, indeed, were a race created by the Wine God, they knew the best techniques to cultivate grapes and how to make honey far sweeter than before.
Suddenly, a gust of wind blew from behind, a rich aroma of grape wine instantly permeated the entire forest.
Solamus did not need to turn his head to know exactly who stood behind him.
One of the Gods of the Celestial Kingdom, the master of wine and revelry, the weaver of Dionysian illusions, the creator of the Satyr race, Wine God Sibos.
Wine God Sibos looked at the golden-haired lady before him, and on her, He could hardly sense even a trace of divine presence.
This meant that she could not be a member of the Gods from the Celestial Kingdom.
Sibos had originally been quite wary, worried that his grandson Xiro had angered some deity walking upon the Earth, but now it seemed that this wariness was nothing but needless concern.
"Greetings, beautiful lady, in your hands is the son of my youngest, Petro. And my origins, I believe you have already heard from my grandson,"
Wine God Sibos introduced himself politely, his tone carrying a subtle threat,
"So may I ask you to introduce yourself, tell me your name? And which deity’s offspring are you?"
As the Wine God, Sibos had a particular fondness for pleasure and was not a deity prone to anger and favoring strife, and it was for this reason He always maintained the proper etiquette and vigilance.
Xiro, as a demigod, enjoyed the grace of the Wine God, yet he was forced by the woman before him to call out for the name of the Wine God.
Sibos believed that the woman before him was either a deity walking on Earth or a descendant of one of the deities of the Celestial Kingdom.
Since the former possibility was ruled out, only the latter remained.
At this moment, Solamus slowly turned around, and in her hands, Xiro, upon seeing the figure of Wine God Sibos, was filled with relief at being rescued, while the tormented and disheveled captive spirit, also enduring the pain, closed her mouth and kept silent.
Solamus looked at Wine God Sibos before her and softly said:
"People call me the daughter of the Water God and see me as their Holy Maiden.
But all of this is irrelevant to me,
My true name remains unknown to anyone."
In the eyes of the people of this city-state, Solamus was the Holy Maiden sent from heaven, hence nobody knew her true origin, and since she herself had never mentioned her name, the people were also unaware of it, even the priests referred to her only as "Holy Maiden."
Although some priests wished to ask for her name, each time they were resolutely rejected by Solamus.
Wine God Sibos stared at her with a sharp gaze, His voice grave as He asked:
"Since you are not willing to introduce yourself, could you then release my grandson and his wife.
If they have offended you in any way, I will make the proper compensation."
Saying this, the decision was made in Sibos’s heart, He intended to make Solamus let go of the spirits in her grasp, this was His bottom line.
Solamus looked at Sibos and then slowly asked:
"Then, what kind of compensation will you give me?"
Sibos laughed and said:
"Exquisite wines and delectable brews, or the most beautiful of men and women from my creations, if you wish, you can also gain the friendship of a deity."
However, as the Wine God, Sibos only heard a detached response from Solamus.
"What significance is there to the friendship of a deity?
In comparison to their sins,
Your friendship is nothing but dry grass and chaff."
