Chapter 280: Chapter 241 Righteousness
King Anuket emerged from his study in a daze, and the attendants waiting by the door tried to steady his shaky shoulders but were violently pushed away.
"Get away from me, get away," he roared angrily at the attendants,
The attendants trembled all over, fearing the King’s anger, then they knelt on the ground and apologized to the King in a low voice.
King Anuket ignored these two ants; his gaze was fixed on the direction Antion had left in, his shaky hands slowly clenched into fists.
His heart was full of uncontrollable rage towards the Priest who had affronted his authority, yet he was filled with immense fear of the Hermit behind Antion.
"Kagawus... will you really judge me after death?"
King Anuket’s devotion made him unable to accept such a terrifying future.
Had it been any other Priest, King Anuket certainly wouldn’t have cared, but since Antion was the Priest who brought the revelation of the afterlife to Ajia Land, his words were far more credible than anyone else’s.
King Anuket couldn’t imagine himself being judged by the Divine beings he worshiped.
He paced restlessly in the corridor, paying no attention to the two trembling attendants kneeling on the ground.
"Oh, Kagawus, I have strived so fiercely to defend your glory on earth,"
"Would you judge me, how could you bear to judge your most loyal servant?"
King Anuket’s reason told him that as the King of Ajia Land, as Kagawus’s most loyal follower, he would certainly not face Kagawus’s personal judgment after death.
But his fear was not dispelled, and the image of Antion defending himself remained firmly etched in his mind.
That image, like a nightmare, tightened its grip on King Anuket’s throat.
After a while, King Anuket thought of something.
"High Priest Hetep, Hetep, he is the High Priest who serves Kagawus day and night; he must understand Kagawus far better than Antion."
With this thought, King Anuket’s panicked heart found a measure of calm.
Antion might be the disciple of a Hermit, but he was just a Priest. High Priest Hetep, on the other hand, was from the Great Temple, recognized by all the Priests who serve Kagawus.
He was, in King Anuket’s eyes, the man closest to the Divine in Ajia Royal City.
Abruptly turning around, the King grabbed the attendants still kneeling on the ground,
"Bring Hetep here, bring Hetep here!"

Xilan stood amidst the New Rule Garden, preaching to the people as was his custom.
"Let me tell you, your God is a just God. When the people of Logos faced a crisis of reason, they desperately sought the answer to death.
Yet God in His righteousness did not reveal Himself but allowed the people of Logos to seek out death for themselves.
Finally, Prophet Al endured great hardships and climbed high mountains, and God appeared to him, giving him the answer he sought.
This is the justice of God, allowing those who are willing to seek, to strive, to obtain what they desire.
Just as wheat sown in the ground and tended with care will one day yield a bountiful harvest. This is the creation of God and the righteousness of God..."
Xilan was recounting stories from Scripture to the people, sharing the understanding that the Elf Priests of past Rule Gardens had always had, trying to use simple words and relatable concepts so even the illiterate Stone Slaves could understand.
"God is also the God of truth. Prophet Al once said God is the unity of law, God is truth. The appearance of the Rule Garden comes because Prophet Al was led by God to establish the Rule Garden on earth, seeking the truth in all things and following in the footsteps of God..."
Xilan preached at length, and the people listened in silence. After the sermon, a few True Believers came forward to ask Xilan about their doubts, and most of them received patient answers from him.
Daniel stood to one side, his gaze somewhat drifting, seemingly preoccupied.
Xilan noticed the disciple’s irregular behavior and, after resolving the last True Believer’s doubts, approached Daniel.
"Daniel, what’s bothering you today?"
Xilan inquired.
Daniel was taken aback, clearly not expecting Xilan to take notice.
Then, without concealing the truth, Daniel pointed towards the Believers who had come to pray and said,
"Teacher, did you notice? There have been far fewer people coming to pray these past few days."
Upon hearing this, Xilan looked over the True Believers inside and outside the New Rule Garden.
The usually overcrowded New Rule Garden was no longer as packed as before, and upon closer reflection, he realized that the collective prayers were also considerably quieter than before.
It appeared that, as Daniel had said, the number of visitors coming to pray had significantly decreased.
"Yes, Daniel, I hadn’t realized until you mentioned it."
Xilan spoke slowly.
He had subconsciously assumed that the New Rule Garden would be bustling with voices daily and hadn’t noticed the rapid decline in attendance.
"Teacher, it’s all because His Majesty the King is going to war."
Daniel gazed toward the distant Palace, his expression quite complex,
"Tomorrow is the expedition ceremony. General Bek will lead a third of the Kingdom’s army to the Beastmen’s lands, expanding His Majesty the King’s territory.
And those Stone Slaves have been conscripted by the army to transport all sorts of supplies.
It is an unprecedented expedition; I have never witnessed such a grand scale, nor has my father."
Xilan noticed that as Daniel spoke, his tone contained neither pride nor anticipation but was instead filled with a profound lament.
"Daniel, I know what you’re thinking."
Xilan sighed softly and said,
"But there’s nothing we can do."
Daniel also sighed, echoing,
"There’s nothing we can do."
Xilan began to console his disciple,
"Daniel, God’s justice will surely come. He is a just God, and we must persist in our faith, just like Prophet Al."
"Really, Teacher?"
"Trust me, Daniel, I am a disciple of the Prophet."
Hearing Xilan’s words, Daniel’s eyes gradually brightened, and he nodded,
"Yes, Teacher, you are a disciple of the Prophet, and God is a just God, as well as a God of truth."
Xilan nodded slightly, pleased to see Daniel’s conviction, and he smiled sincerely.
Daniel slowly approached the three volumes of Holy Scripture, excitedly saying:
"In this world, even if there is suffering for a time, God has already triumphed over the suffering for us. His most perfect and beautiful Kingdom awaits each one of us."
After speaking, Daniel knelt down, clasped his hands together, and began praying for the conscripted True Believers, seeking peace and victory for them.
And Xilan smiled, following Daniel’s example, kneeling in front of the altar and silently praying in his heart.
