Only God
Chapter 274 - 235 Spokesperson of the Prophetic God

Chapter 274: Chapter 235 Spokesperson of the Prophetic God

In the Celestial Kingdom where stars vied for splendor,

The Country of Divines stood firm within the vast starry space, where countless stars traversed their prescribed orbits day in and day out, yet the Country of Divines remained ever fixed in its original location, unmoved.

This Country of Divines was the center of the universe as it stands now and the dwelling place of the Divine.

Those Gods who receive offerings and are revered, magnificent, and forbidden in the Mortal World, were as numerous as hairs in this place.

Standing upon the silver-foil-covered plaza of the Country of Divines and looking up, one could see five splendid ancient Temples.

These were the Temples of the first five Gods to awaken in the Celestial Kingdom.

At the center was the Temple of Divine King Shan En, and to the left of that resplendent hall, the Temple of the Prophetic God Kagawus.

Kagawus’s Temple at this moment was shrouded in silence.

The Prophetic God Kagawus was not within his Temple now, as he had made a new prophecy for the Golden Age and began to spend a long time glimpsing the trajectory of fate.

Within the Temple, only the Divine Statue of Kagawus stood firm, while at its side, the pedestal of the God of Lies and Trickery was bathed in the glow of gemstones.

That Heavenly Descending Gem brought back from the earth by Endora emanated a faint light.

It remained breathtakingly beautiful, enough to drive countless people into madness.

If this gemstone were to be brought onto the earth again, it would surely stir up turmoil after turmoil.

Inside the deepest folded edges of the gemstone, an almost imperceptible eye peered through the vast distance, spying on a corner of the Mortal World from within the Celestial Kingdom.

That eye belonged to the fragmented soul of Slaier, the God of Lies and Trickery.

His original soul had been shredded by the thunder of Divine King Shan En, leaving only this small part of the soul, which, by the power of the Wish Stone, slept within the gemstone.

Now, Slaier, as a remnant soul, had lost the ability to think normally, not even on par with a beast.

What it did was merely act according to the plot it had laid out before becoming the gemstone.

That plot, which would allow it to reconstruct its soul,

Once, War God Saiama had infused a strand of his spirit into the body of a mortal, assimilating and dominating that person’s soul, turning that mortal into the spokesperson for War God Selma.

Why could War God Saiama possess such power?

In truth, every Divine Office could have such power.

Because, be it the souls of the deities in the Celestial Kingdom or the most humble mortal souls on earth, all stemmed from the same light that descended into the world, the creator in decline.

Due to the same origin, the souls of humans bore great resemblance to those of the Gods in the Celestial Kingdom; the main difference being that mortal souls, limited by their physical bodies, were frail, while the souls of the Divine, benefiting from their stellar essence, possessed endless power, even to the extent of condensing into visible forms.

And Slaier, the God of Lies and Trickery, had early on realized the similarity between the souls of the Divine and those of mortals.

Thus, Slaier turned into the Heavenly Descending Gem, passed from hand to hand among countless mortals, through seducing their greed, haughtiness, and desire. Leading them into death, and as their souls left their bodies, seizing a wisp of their spirit.

Slaier was using mortal souls to mend its own fragmented soul.

However, now that the Heavenly Descending Gem had been brought into the Celestial Kingdom, Slaier could no longer snatch others’ souls as before.

But Slaier had long made backup arrangements.

The Heavenly Descending Gem had no power to fulfill anyone’s wishes; it merely amplified desires, making people see fantasies they held in their hearts.

And now, the luminescence of the gemstone reflected upon the Divine Statue of Kagawus.

Slaier had once been a Subordinate God to Kagawus, and It understood well that all the Divine Statues on the ground were modelled after those in the Country of Divines, meaning this Kagawus’s Divine Statue in the Country of Divines was the progenitor of all Kagawus’s statues on earth, hence every statue on earth held a secret Spiritual Link with the Divine Statues of the Country of Divines.

This was the creation of the Goddess of Secrets, who named it the Spiritual Link.

The light of the Heavenly Descending Gem shone on Kagawus’s Divine Statue, and through this statue’s Spiritual Link with other statues, the gem’s radiance refracted from the Celestial Kingdom down to the mortals on the earth’s surface.

The light, so transferred and transited, naturally could not match its original brilliance, nor could it cause mortals to see the illusions they harbored in their hearts.

Provided that those who prayed and worshipped at the statues did not harbor desires intense enough, that fiery spark of greed and arrogance would be insufficient to ignite the conflagration that would consume them.

Thus, Slaier’s plot was but a last-ditch straw to clutch at.

Even Slaier itself held little hope for this scheme.

But for thousands of years,

Before the gemstone appeared, mankind had already learned to destroy itself.

Annihilating man never requires the illusion of a gemstone, only man’s own desires.

.........

.........

In the Palace garden.

King Anuket knelt before the divine statue of Kagawus.

He caressed the third eye on his forehead with one hand, while the other tightly clutched his chest, praying softly to the creator of the Three-eyed Ape People.

In this era when divines walked the earth, a lofty king was never the greatest authority of a race.

"Kagawus, mysterious Prophecy, for your glory, for your sanctity, I strive to present the utmost devotion from all Three-eyed Ape People to you."

King Anuket asked softly:

"And now, your humble servant will reveal all his plans to you..."

After speaking, Anuket disclosed all his plans.

These were the ones he had discussed previously with Hetep and Antion from the Great Temple:

To unify two religions, two faiths, allow Kagawus to replace the Lord of the high mountains, and then bring the Three-eyed Ape People back to the true path of belief in Kagawus.

After laying out all his plans,

Anuket took a deep breath, his hands trembling slightly.

The new king doubted the so-called stories of the Prophet, but he knew the power of the Ancient Language, knew that it was not of mortal origin.

Therefore, after much contemplation, King Anuket did not persecute the True Believers on a large scale.

And this plan he had set in motion also made King Anuket quite restless.

So King Anuket prayed to the divine, seeking a response from the Prophetic God.

King Anuket knelt before the divine statue; shortly after, his hands ceased to tremble.

The King looked up, and he saw...

The divine statue of Kagawus, its forehead eye emitting a faint glow.

Was this... a revelation from Kagawus?

King Anuket watched incredulously as before his eyes, and within a blink, the light vanished as if it were an illusion.

The King didn’t know if it was truly an illusion, but his hands no longer shook, and his heart gradually found fervor for Kagawus amidst the fading terror.

King Anuket recalled Kagawus’ dust-covered Temple, the devout prayers throughout the day, the lowly Stone Slaves who had forsaken Kagawus...

"This is... the guidance of Kagawus!

King Anuket murmured:

"I... am the king blessed by Kagawus!"

King Anuket lifted his head abruptly, looking at the divine statue of Kagawus before him, countless times he had prayed to Kagawus, and many times he received such obscure guidance, calming all his panics.

He gazed at the divine statue, and suddenly, an idea struck him.

If he were to complete the grand task of bringing the Three-eyed Ape People back to Kagawus...

Then... how would history record him?

How would the Priests who serve Kagawus praise his name?

Following this, King Anuket’s eyes gleamed with greed,

"Kagawus’... spokesperson,

I will not just be the King of Ajia, but also the spokesperson for the Prophetic God!"

Such religious fervor made King Anuket unsatisfied with mere worldly crowns.
