Chapter 264: Chapter 227 Baird’s Journey

The gods of the mountain and craftsman, Hiris, and the Death God, Nakbet, set in motion to procure the aid of the Winter God Skadi.

Hiris first forged two suits of invincible armor, and during a great battle, he replaced the original armor in their packs with the new suits.

At the same time, the mountain and craftsman god also crafted a sword that chilled the very hearts of enemies, initially gifting it to the heroes’ foes, and subsequently, it was captured by Baird as spoils of war.

Meanwhile, the Death God Nakbet repeatedly provided secret protection, steering countless deaths away from the three, allowing the heroes to achieve victory after victory under the command of the Poisonous Consort Milis, climbing to higher ranks step by step.

After all the preparations had been made, for the next several years, the two gods crafted the Netherworld, watching as the three heroes conquered lands from east to west.

The Death God Nakbet continually guided the souls from the earth to the Netherworld, most of which inevitably migrated to the peak of a high mountain over time, though Nakbet reserved a few.

Aside from the Winter God Skadi, the other divine beings readily assisted in the creation of the Death God’s Netherworld, asking for almost nothing in return. Nakbet thanked them and heeded the opinions of these gods,

With the help of the gods, the Netherworld gradually took form. The mountain and craftsman god, Hiris, with his exquisite skills, crafted six rivers, dividing the Netherworld into seven distinct regions.

The Water God Angel poured vast waters into these six rivers, while other divine beings infused them with different divine powers.

The first river was the River of Death, representing the boundary between the living and the souls. Even the lightest soul, once fallen into the river, would inevitably sink, trapped in an endless unconscious state until the day they were washed ashore by the river’s undercurrent, where they would go before the Judge of the Netherworld, facing the tribunal led by Asis.

The River of Death was so fearsome that the gentle Death God prepared a large boat. It was rowed by souls who had neither sinned nor performed good deeds in life, and after serving for thirty years, they could proceed to the Peaceful Plain to enjoy the tranquility of the afterlife.

Along the banks of the River of Death, the Death God Nakbet also kept a three-headed dog, which prevented any souls from escaping the Netherworld, but ignored those entering.

After crossing the River of Death, they would meet the Judge of the Netherworld, who would judge all their deeds in life and decide their fate in the afterlife based on laws from various lands.

The destination for the majority of souls was the Sighing Plain, a place for the ordinary souls with little sin and good intent; there, no theaters of the Mortal World, no pleasure places like brothels existed — only darkness, no light; only cold, no warmth; only sighs, no joy.

The souls spent nearly endless time here unless they undertook a task — building a bridge to the Punishment Wilderness whereafter they were also sent to the Peaceful Plain.

Without a doubt, in the vision of the Death God Nakbet, the souls arriving in the Netherworld would face different fates.

Some souls were sent to the Punishment Wilderness, a place for the punishment of the wicked.

They endured various torments: burning by flames, biting by venomous snakes, drowning in water, among others.

Some souls were sent to the River of Dreams, where they drank from its waters, experiencing a dream unlike any before, working to earn more of the Dream River Water after awakening, then returning to sleep.

Some great souls were sent to the Great Plain, a paradise for the kind-hearted and heroes. They gathered with other great souls, enjoying happiness and peace.

With the help of the gods, the Netherworld was smoothly completed. The Death God Nakbet built different temples in the Netherworld for the gods, to showcase their deeds and express his gratitude.

From the top of the palace in the Netherworld, Nakbet gazed afar at the three heroic figures on the vast land.

"Hiris, the Netherworld lacks nothing but the chill winters of Winter God Skadi!"

Nakbet exclaimed fervently.

Hiris nodded slightly, aware of this matter.

"How are Baird and the others doing?"

"Very smoothly, after years of conflict, they have gained the favor and trust of the Poisonous Consort Milis," said the Death God Nakbet.

"Being favored and trusted is far from obtaining the gemstone," Hiris raised an eyebrow and said,

"You know, the gemstone that fell after Slaier’s demise is indeed very strange."

Nakbet turned his head and said,

"Of course I know, Hiris.

But what I can see is that the Poisonous Consort Milis is gradually approaching her end.

That’s why I said it’s going smoothly."

Surprised, Hiris asked,

"Really?"

"I can sense nearly all deaths in this world."

Nakbet answered excitedly.

Years of waiting were about to yield a result.

As the Death God Nakbet had said,

the Poisonous Consort Milis met her end.

Milis, having climbed to power by poisoning her husband, was ruthless and underhanded. After marrying another king, in a struggle for power, she successively had several ministers killed, and soon after, the king fell seriously ill and died, leaving Milis in control of the power once more.
