Chapter 206 - 177: The War of All Gods Against the Primordial Will
Chapter 206: Chapter 177: The War of All Gods Against the Primordial Will
The Prophecy was confirmed.
Kagawus, sensing something in the Temple, opened his eyes wide.
He stepped out of the Temple and gazed out from the Country of Divines.
That deep gray star, swirling with Death Divine Power, fell into the eyes of the Prophetic God.
His hands couldn’t help but tremble.
"We are steadily drawing closer to the Prophecy..."
After the last Prophecy, Kagawus informed Divine King Shan En of its content.
At that time, Shan En, in His magnificent Divine King Palace, sank into deep contemplation without a word.
Kagawus stood quietly there, waiting for nine days and nights.
At last, Divine King Shan En sighed lightly,
"Make preparations, Kagawus.
For our realm, for the covenant of the Gods,
We shall gather the power of all Divines,
We shall be as our Father,
The Gods must battle with the Primordial Will, even if our realm must fall to ruin."
After hearing the Prophecy, Shan En, the one who commands thunder and lightning, began to prepare in secret for the impending war.
Kagawus knew
This would be a war that could shake the foundation of the Country of Divines.
To avoid alarming the Gods and causing those with weaker minds to defect to the Primordial Will, Shan En commanded Kagawus to keep the Prophecy’s secret.
And now, Kagawus’s second Prophecy was confirmed.
Among the two stars, one began to awake.
"Shan En, how much time do we have left..."
Kagawus murmured.
The birth of a new Divine should have been celebrated and joyous for all the Gods.
However, Kagawus felt a complexity of emotions.
No Divine knew exactly how the three Prophecies were related.
Maybe they were closely linked, or maybe not at all.
But... with the second Prophecy confirmed, could the others be far behind?
The Gods walked upon the trajectory of fate.
...........
Thunder roared across the vastness of star-filled space.
Clad in golden Divine Armor and wielding a Thunder Spear, Divine King Shan En arrived upon the star enveloped in Death Divine Power.
"Who are you?"
An endless sea of deep gray, wrought by Death Divine Power, stretched out before Him.
A figure rose from the surface of the sea.
"Shan En, Master of the Thunder, King of the Country of Divines."
Divine King Shan En spoke with a deep voice.
The newly born Death God gazed at Shan En with mournful eyes.
"What have you come for?"
The Death God inquired further.
"We are all Divine of the Celestial Kingdom; I am here to announce your divine identity and to lead you into the Country of Divines."
Divine King Shan En spoke slowly.
The Death God leaned on his scythe, bowed his head, and pondered for a moment.
After a long time, the Death God nodded.
"Very well, I am willing to enter the Country of Divines."
As the words fell, Shan En flashed and stood in front of the Death God.
The Death God’s eyes widened.
Shan En sent a bolt of thunder into the Death God’s shell.
The Death God involuntarily knelt, thunder roaring within Him.
After a while, the Death God slowly stood, looking at Shan En with bewilderment.
Shan En gazed at the Death God.
He had sent the bolt of thunder to probe the soul of the Death God.
And the thunder revealed to Him that the Death God bore no taint of the Primordial Will.
Shan En let out a breath of relief, surveying the surrounding starscape.
The Primordial Will...
Where could it be?
How would it descend?
Divine King Shan En could not fathom; despite His meticulous search through the heavens for days, He could not find a trace of the Primordial Will.
Nevertheless, Shan En did not lower His vigilance but grew more anxious.
The Prophecy was destined to come to pass.
He whispered in His heart,
"My Father, how might I follow in Your footsteps?"
The Death God stood upon His star.
After a moment, Shan En regained His composure and turned towards the Death God.
He found the nascent Death God appeared to be gazing at something.
"What are you looking at?"
Shan En asked.
On hearing this, the Death God pointed in a direction and then asked,
"What is that place?"
Divine King Shan En followed His gaze.
The Death God was pointing to a white, snow-covered mountain.
"That is Our Father’s mountain."
After hesitating for a moment, Divine King Shan En finally said.
"I see souls heading there."
Then, the Death God gestured to the stars underfoot and asked softly,
"Can they not come to this starscape?
To my star above.
I yearn to accept those souls who have passed on."
A flicker of surprise crossed the eyes of the Divine King, and then He chuckled, shaking His head.
"Child, there is much you do not yet understand."
After laughing, a spark of inspiration crossed His mind.
Accepting souls...
Divine King Shan En turned His gaze to the Country of Divines.
Why not... Why shouldn’t the Gods create an afterlife for their own beliefs?
The inspiration was fleeting, but Shan En etched it in memory, and quietly set it aside.
For now, there were more pressing matters at hand.
"Let’s go, Death God, to our Country of Divines."
...
...
"Report to your King, we are envoys from Ajia."
When the envoys arrived at the Beastman’s military camp, they were stopped by the Beastman guards on duty.
The Beastman guards looked at Noen and his companions with suspicion. After a thorough check, the Beastman captain sent a soldier to report to King Chenfeng.
Not long after, the soldier who had gone to report returned from King Chenfeng’s tent.
"His Majesty King Chenfeng is not in the tent,"
the soldier said.
"Then you should wait a while,"
the Beastman captains told Noen and his companions.
So, the envoys from Ajia waited. Not knowing how much time passed and just as they were getting impatient, they finally received a response.
The person who came was none other than the priest of King Chenfeng, Pan Su.
"Let them in,"
Pan Su said.
After receiving the order, the Beastmen cleared a path for the envoys.
Noen and Casas took the lead, slowly following Pan Su.
Passing through the Beastmen’s tents, Casas looked around.
The layout of the Beastmen’s camp was disorganized, barely identifiable by the division of their respective tribes. Those Beastmen, whose fighting spirit soared on the battlefield, virtually all fell unconscious at night, sleeping soundly.
Casas looked around in amazement; he had known of the Beastmen’s savagery and lack of order, but didn’t expect such chaos even amidst a war fought at the cost of their lives.
As they approached King Chenfeng’s tent, Noen saw a familiar figure.
The night was pitch black and despite torches lit all around, visibility was still severely limited. Yet, one horseman held a strong bow at the practice range, continually firing arrows at wooden stakes.
That was Shanon, son of Hess.
After shooting an arrow and during the gap in reloading, Shanon noticed someone approaching and turned his head to look.
"Is it you? Noen?!"
Shanon exclaimed in surprise:
"And... Xilan?"
As Noen’s attendant, Xilan naturally followed close behind the Prophet; he waved his hand upon seeing Shanon.
Noen faced Shanon and nodded his head.
Shanon ran on all fours, leaving the practice range, and in a blink, reached Noen’s side.
By the light of the torches, Noen looked Shanon up and down; his armor seemed unremarkable in the darkness.
Yet on Shanon, after several indecisive battles, not a single scratch was to be found.
Noen realized that this armor crafted by Hess seemed more than simple.
"What are you here for?"
"We are envoys, come to see your King,"
Noen replied.
"I see."
Shanon paused, suddenly remembering something,
"What about Baird? Is he here?"
"He isn’t the one who delivers messages,"
Noen shook his head.
Hearing this, the impulsive horseman appeared somewhat disappointed.
Then he looked toward Ajia City in the distance; to this day, they had been unable to breach its walls.
"Baird... a hero among heroes,"
Shanon murmured.
Before coming to Ajia, Shanon had thought that, despite Baird’s fame, he was no match for the multitude of heroes.
He had even fantasized about piercing Baird’s chest with his father’s sword on the battlefield.
But, Baird’s strength was beyond his expectations.
Even with his own speed as fast as a gale, Baird’s hawk-like eyes could still capture his direction.
Even with all his skill and the tremendous force of his charge, with an invincible spear that no one could withstand, it could still be stopped dramatically by Baird with a sword.
The heroes among the Beastmen had to face Baird three against one just to hold their ground, and four against one to gain the upper hand.
Compared to Baird, the other heroes of Ajia seemed more like his foils.
The Beastmen had taken the advantage several times during the battles,
only for Baird to turn the tides, making it hard to determine a victory.
At this moment, Shajia reflected:
"In our own territories, we meet no match, and all are peerlessly brave, yet we still cannot overcome that hero among heroes."
From Shanon’s reflection, Noen heard an emotion of a hero admiring another hero.
At the walls of Ajia City, where the battle of heroes was taking place, the heroes of both sides were gathered, yet overshadowed by the brilliance of Baird alone.
This not only made them feel unwilling to accept but also filled them with admiration.
But... as Noen recalled this battle of heroes, he couldn’t help but feel wary.
He had a premonition that there must be something strange about that Heavenly Descending Gem.
Following King Chenfeng’s priest Pan Su, Noen and his companions slowly approached King Chenfeng’s tent.
Soon, they saw the illustrious King Chenfeng.
King Chenfeng was tall and sat in the tent, his brows tightly knit, commanding an air of majesty.
Noen caught a whiff of the smell of blood coming from him.
The Prophet couldn’t help but feel puzzled, but this was a military camp, and the smell of blood was not out of the ordinary.
Casas stepped forward and said:
"Wise leader of the five armies, the noble King Chenfeng, we bring the friendship of the land of Ajia to offer you a precious gift—peace."
King Chenfeng’s eyes fixed on Casas,
"The war has dragged on, and of course I desire peace with you, but I cannot forget the treachery of the Three-eyed Ape People."
After sacrificing his wife, King Chenfeng was longing to leave this place, having found confirmation in an external prophecy.
This battle, where heroes were gathered, was bound to end inconclusively.
"King Chenfeng, in addition to peace, we also bring a tribute,"
Casas continued, lifting his hand to signal the other envoys to present the gifts prepared by Queen Isis.
Afterward, the son of the Prime Minister offered the wooden box in his hands.
King Chenfeng watched the wooden box, hesitating for a moment before gently opening it.
Inside the box, there were sheets of papyrus.
Pan Su stepped forward and said:
"Is that... two city-states?"
Casas nodded slightly and bowed, continuing:
"Queen Isis and our King, have specially allotted two city-states to you, as a symbol of friendship between our two races, and also as an apology."
King Chenfeng looked at the papyrus inside the wooden box.
His gaze was almost unable to hide his excitement.
King Chenfeng glanced at the wooden statue of Endora.
After sacrificing Ophir, Queen Isis actually offered two city-states.
Was this merely a coincidence...
Or... the strange Magic Power of the gemstone?
