Chapter 202: Chapter 175: Could He Really Be the Prophet?_2
Queen Isis stood beside the throne.
Below the steps of the throne stood an Ape-man dressed as a Priest, his hair and beard silvery white, his demeanor solemn.
"That’s the current High Priest Ora."
Casas whispered softly.
After the former High Priest had passed away of old age, Ora succeeded to the holy office of the High Priest of the Great Temple—an appointment not only designated by Queen Isis herself but also unanimously elected by the other Priests.
It was all because Ora’s power of Prophecy far exceeded that of ordinary people.
It was evidently clear, in the eyes of the Three-eyed Ape People, that Ora was the one closest to the Prophetic God, even bearing the glorious title of the Eye of Kagawus.
Queen Isis stood in front of the throne, her gaze hurriedly sweeping past Casas, then settling on Noen.
Before this moment, due to the rule that forbade the Nobles’ slaves from setting foot in the Palace, she had never personally seen Noen, only hearing rumors about him from the Prophecy and Casas’s narrations.
Compared to the handsome Casas, Noen seemed plain, but there was an inherent humility upon his face.
"Could this be... the so-called Prophet of God?"
For a moment, Queen Isis felt deeply skeptical, even doubting whether Casas had deceived her in the past.
However, the situation being what it was, Queen Isis had to put her trust in the two men who had once brought back the horns of the golden bull.
She picked up an intricately carved wooden box from the throne and slowly walked towards Casas and Noen.
"Inside this... are spices?"
Casas asked.
Queen Isis smiled, shaking her head.
"Casas, how could a war cease over mere spices?
This contains a treaty.
Once you deliver this to King Chenfeng’s hands, two of the city-states will fall into the Beastman’s possession."
Upon hearing this, Casas couldn’t help but draw a sharp breath.
For the sake of peace, Queen Isis was actually offering up two city-states.
"Don’t hurry, Casas."
Queen Isis glanced at Noen and, to her surprise, found the Stone Slave’s expression calm, not betraying a single fluster.
After a moment, she withdrew her gaze and continued:
"I only mentioned presenting the city-states to King Chenfeng, but the wheat, the slaves, the farmers, the Nobles, they must all be relocated.
Thus, they will inherit but two empty cities.
And when these Beastman forces re-engage in their wars, we can take back the city-states at any time."
Hearing this, Casas showed an expression of sudden realization.
The Queen, with her ruthless methods, evidently made decisions after deep contemplation and long planning.
Casas accepted the wooden box from Isis.
Queen Isis returned to stand beside the throne, looking down upon the two men before her.
"Go now, the servants accompanying you on your diplomatic mission are waiting at the Northern City Gate."
Shortly thereafter,
Casas and Noen’s figures vanished within the court.
Within the vast Palace, only Queen Isis and High Priest Ora remained.
"High Priest, can you sense anything about these two men?"
The Queen inquired.
Facing the Kingdom’s singular authority, High Priest Ora slowly began to speak:
"I do not sense a strong aura of the power of Prophecy, just two ordinary humans."
"Oh? And what of that Noen by Casas’s side?"
"He’s just a Stone Slave, Your Highness."
Ora answered calmly.
The implication in the High Priest’s words was clear without being stated.
Queen Isis gazed in the direction where the two had disappeared, then with a tone of reverence, she asked:
"High Priest, the Eye of Kagawus, can you offer a Prophecy for this diplomatic mission?
You must understand, the word ’peace’ is of paramount importance to the Ajia Kingdom."
High Priest Ora slowly nodded.
The most authoritative woman in the Kingdom stood before me, imploring in such a respectful tone that it meant refusal was not an option.
Queen Isis smiled and immediately went to the court to instruct the servants to assist High Priest Ora with the prophecy.
In no time, in the Sanctum, after his purification bath, High Priest Ora knelt and sat before the Divine Statue of Kagawus.
Incense such as frankincense and myrrh burned within, aiding the act of prophecy.
Facing the Divine Statue of Kagawus, High Priest Ora opened his Eye of Prophecy.
The power of prophecy slowly gathered in his third eye, located on his forehead.
"Sacred prediction, great Kagawus, please manifest for your servant, please dispel the doubts of your servant, permit me, in my foolishness, to make a prophecy regarding Noen and Casas."
High Priest Ora murmured his incantations, then closed his eyes.
The pale yellow force of prophecy, under the burning of the spices, grew intensely concentrated. Ora, as Ajia’s High Priest, was seen by all as the person closest to Kagawus, and his visions were much clearer than those of other priests.
The forces of prophecy slowly converged to form a vision, and Ora waited patiently.
However... to his astonishment, the vision before him was incredibly blurred.
Seeing this, Ora widened his Eye of Prophecy, summoning the prophetic power within him.
The image, initially blurry, gradually became clear, and then, Ora saw two figures advancing slowly towards the camps of the Beastmen.
Ora breathed a sigh of relief. The previous blockage was perhaps just a minor incident.
Just then...
In the vision,
the Stone Slave holding the Priest’s Staff slowly turned his head and glanced in the direction of the Palace.
Suddenly, a sacred, intense light from nowhere shrouded the entire scene.
High Priest Ora’s Eye of Prophecy suddenly swelled.
The High Priest’s body began to tremble uncontrollably, the vision collapsed in an instant, and an agonizing pain burst from the Eye of Prophecy!
"Ah!"
Ora let out a heart-wrenching scream, and his Eye of Prophecy burst in a spray of blood amidst the screams.
"Ah!"
Queen Isis, who was waiting outside the Sanctum, heard Ora’s scream. In a flurry, she pushed open the wooden door and found the High Priest collapsed in a pool of blood.
His robe was soaked red, his body curled up and trembling on the floor; it was as if he had prophesied something he should not have.
Queen Isis hurried to his side, and the High Priest before her continuously spat out fresh blood, his face a portrait of misery, barely clinging to life.
"Your Highness... I, I cannot prophesy..."
Her words hit like thunder, stunning Queen Isis.
That High Priest, known as the Eye of Kagawus, the one closest to the Prophetic God, was unable to foretell the path of the two individuals.
"Even you cannot prophesy..."
Queen Isis, belatedly trembling with realization,
"Could that Noen... really be the Prophet of the Supreme God?!"
"What kind of Divine being... could possibly have such a prophet!"
These two mortals did not know,
Their object of worship, Kagawus, once attempted to prophesy about the Father of the Gods.
And now, the High Priest’s predicament bore an unexpected resemblance to what Kagawus once faced.
...........
On the road to King Chenfeng’s domain.
Noen had no knowledge of Ora’s dire state.
After his divine encounter, Noen’s soul had already undergone a change.
As a Prophet who sensed someone was observing him with the power of prophecy, he simply cast a glance back.
After that, the prophetic observation ceased.
"What’s the matter, Noen?"
Noticing Noen’s slowed pace, Casas turned to ask.
Noen shook his head and replied,
"Nothing, young master. Let’s continue."
With that, Noen quickened his steps.
This offbeat minor incident brought them no hindrance at
