Chapter 146: Chapter 126 Kagawus Doesn’t Even Know That He’s the Creator

Casas mounted the camel, but this was no ordinary camel. It was one of the rare camels with pure white fur, possessing a sacred appearance under the glow of the sunlight. Carefully bred by Casas’s father, it was presented to him upon reaching adulthood.

Noen led the camel by the bridle, walking step by step toward the temple halfway up the hillside.

"This camel can enter the temple," Casas said offhandedly as he stroked the camel’s fur.

Noen nodded in agreement and replied,

"Little master, the priests all say that the white camels can ascend to the temple."

Casas glanced at Noen, then said,

"But Stone Slaves like you cannot."

Noen’s eyelids dropped, and he said nothing.

Just as Casas had said, Stone Slaves were not allowed to set foot in the temple, for the priests believed their unclean blood would defile the sacred ground of the temple if they allowed the soles of the Stone Slaves to touch the earth, their faces blocking the very sunlight meant for the temple, thus offending the great Prophetic God Kagawus.

Only purebred Three-eyed Ape People were qualified to ascend to the temple and offer sacrifices to the Prophetic God Kagawus.

As Noen led Casas’s camel through the market, something caught Casas’s attention. He tugged at the reins, signaling Noen to stop.

Immediately following that, Casas leapt down from the camel and approached a carpet merchant. He took out two bronze coins, tossing them into the scale pan of the merchant’s balance.

Before the merchant could even focus, Casas nonchalantly took a carpet and, turning around, climbed back onto the camel with great flair.

Casas slapped the camel’s rump and then gestured for Noen to follow.

Noen ignored the merchant who had brought out grain to make change, and promptly followed Casas.

"Is this for the temple offering?" Noen asked in a whisper.

Casas shook his head, holding the carpet in his hands, and simply stated,

"You need not ask."

Noen nodded, wiped his mouth, signaling his silence.

Master and servant approached the temple on the hillside at this slow pace. Today was the day of offerings, the anniversary of the Three-eyed Ape Temple’s completion, with numerous nobles coming for the sacrifice. Most of them dismounted at the bottom of the temple, leaving their mounts to the care of the Stone Slaves, with only Casas remaining on his white camel.

Finally nearing the temple, Casas dismounted and reached out his hands to grab Noen.

Noen cried out loudly in shock, only to be rebuked by Casas,

"Shut up, don’t make noise."

As his words fell, Noen instantly quieted down. Casas placed the fourteen-year-old boy on the camel’s saddle and then unfolded the carpet, covering him entirely.

"Little master, what, what are you doing?" Noen asked in astonishment.

"Haven’t you always wanted to see the temple?" Casas counter-questioned,

"I’m taking you inside now, but you must not speak."

Upon hearing this, Noen fell silent, looking incredulously at Casas.

Casas turned his head, took hold of the camel’s bridle, and slowly walked towards the temple on the hillside.

Covered by the carpet, Noen’s face was hidden, and sunlight came from behind, shining on the carpet. Through the tiny gaps, he observed the temple they were gradually approaching.

This magnificent temple rested on elaborate columns, with various bronze ritual objects embedded in the outermost doors. The eaves were inlaid with snow-white ivory, and beautiful patterns and figures were carved onto the two large doors, depicting countless wonderful and ancient mortal world legends.

Outside the door grew enormous coconut date trees, their fruits looking incredibly tempting.

The keen-eyed priests noticed the white camel and immediately guessed the identity of the visitor.

"Lord Casas, may the Eye of Prophecy always be watched over by Kagawus."

Perhaps due to the division between master and slave, the Ajia Kingdom developed honorifics several hundred years ago.

Casas nodded slightly, and after briefly acknowledging the greeting, he led the white camel, about to step into the temple.

"Lord Casas, what is under this bulging carpet?" one priest asked, pointing at the white camel.

Hearing this, Noen’s heart leapt with fright.

He was about to be exposed. As soon as the carpet was lifted, he would be dragged down and taken outside to be beaten to death!

"Just a hump," Casas said dismissively.

This, of course, could not deceive the priests. One sharp-eyed priest walked around the white camel and exclaimed,

"There’s a person hidden inside!"

At those words, the priests were about to move forward to unveil the carpet, only to see Casas step up and stop them with a gesture.

"Don’t touch it. This is my camel."

"Lord Casas, you must give us an explanation," a priest demanded as he approached, his white ceremonial robe fluttering in the wind.

Casas narrowed his three eyes and then slowly declared,

"Yes, there is a person inside, and he’s a Stone Slave."

The priests reacted with shock, their faces then rapidly changing, and the leading priest confronted Casas,

"You should know that the temple does not allow the presence of Stone Slaves,

if we let their feet touch the ground, let their faces block the sunlight meant for the temple, their impure bloodline would defile the sacred soil of the temple, thus offending the great Prophetic God Kagawus!"

Faced with the priests’ righteous condemnation, Casas pointed to the camel and retorted,

"You all have eyes; you should see that he’s riding on the camel. His feet haven’t touched the ground at all, and he’s covered with a carpet. How could his face possibly block the sunlight intended for the temple?"
