Chapter 49: Chapter 49 I Just Want My Brothers to be Happy! (Please follow) _1

A night of tenderness.

The next day, Dean drove the pink Porsche Laura had lent him, along with the picture frame he’d forgotten to take out yesterday, to the detective bureau. As soon as he got out of the car, he happened to run into Phoebe and Robert.

"Wow," Phoebe, like an adoring fan, rushed over and touched the pink sports car with envy. "Dean, you actually have a girly heart! Maybe we could become good sisters."

Dean: "..."

Robert also looked at Dean strangely.

"My car was wrecked by Lawrence. This is a friend’s car!" Dean explained, his face darkening.

"Okay." Phoebe reluctantly withdrew her hand and said seriously, "By the way, Harry was talking about you all day yesterday."

"How’s the investigation into his friend’s case going?"

"We’ve made some headway. Through investigation, the suspect was last seen on Dagger Gang turf. Harry was negotiating with their people there yesterday."

The Dagger Gang, huh...

Dean had called Anthony yesterday. Because of the Lucifer Game Organization, Anthony was now leading a team to secretly investigate the Dagger Gang, but their progress didn’t seem to be going smoothly.

Dean bid farewell to Phoebe and Robert. With the picture frame in hand, he went to the forensics department.

Holz had arrived early. Upon seeing Dean, he hurriedly put down his hot dog and took out a report from a nearby table, saying, "Dean, this is the blood analysis. Upon examination, the blood found in Villa Number 76 was confirmed to be human blood, and most of it belonged to the same person. With such a large amount of blood loss, the person definitely couldn’t have survived. We can now confirm a murder took place there. You can take this to establish a case file."

"Thank you." Dean took the file and then casually pulled out the picture frame. "This is a new lead I found after you left."

"A picture frame?"

"Yes, but there’s a line written in blood on the back of the photo."

Holz took the picture frame.

Dean, with the forensics department’s report in hand, went to the Fourth Squad’s office.

The case at Villa Number 76 was somewhat awkward. It originated from a child discovering a suspected death, which was later confirmed to be a misunderstanding. Procedurally, this emergency call could be considered concluded. As for the missing Shane Family, if the public didn’t report it, the officials wouldn’t investigate. If no one filed a police report, even the detective bureau often found it better to let sleeping dogs lie.

Now, with this report from the forensics department, Dean finally had the official standing to utilize department resources and actively pursue this disappearance case.

Upon reaching the office, Dean had just sat down when Lawrence approached with an unpleasant expression. "Dean, I remember you promised you’d get Laura to set me up with a girlfriend!"

"Of course!" Dean pulled a stack of photos from his pocket. "Lawrence, you’re my good friend! My best buddy! My great mentor! How could I possibly forget? These are all beautiful single ladies. Whichever one you like, I’ll help you arrange a date!"

Indeed, he hadn’t forgotten about this. Although Lawrence was ruggedly handsome in a fierce way, he was strong and robust. His background as a former professional wrestler and current homicide detective made him quite attractive to many of Laura’s eager, wealthy older women in their forties and fifties. If he successfully played matchmaker, Dean stood to earn a handsome reward.

Of course, it wasn’t for the money!

He swore it!

He was simply doing it to help his good buddy find happiness!

Lawrence had a simple personality. Although the wealthy ladies were older, they were well-maintained, and the photos were somewhat enhanced. Gazing at the tempting photos of these voluptuous women, he practically drooled, feeling deeply touched. "Dean, other than my mom, no one has ever been this good to me!"

Without looking up, Dean flipped through the report in his hands. "Their contact information is on the back of the photos. You can try dating these ripe beauties. Go get ’em, Lawrence! As your brother, I hope you find someone soon!"

"I won’t disappoint you, Dean!" Lawrence walked away, his face full of gratitude.

After finishing the report, Dean rubbed his forehead.

The blood analysis showed that the bloodstains found at Villa Number 76 belonged to three different people: two men and one woman. Most of the bloodstains belonged to the woman. She was the only confirmed victim so far. However, the forensics department had collected hair samples from the Shane Family within the villa and found that none of them matched the woman’s DNA. The female victim could be Shane’s wife or an unknown individual unrelated to the Shane Family.

As for the two men, one was Marcus, the handyman, still unconscious in the hospital. The other man’s DNA matched other genetic material found in the villa. It was almost certain that the blood belonged to either Shane or his son, Bert.

Considering the previous clues, Dean had a few theories about this still somewhat murky case. Now he needed more evidence to prove them.

Just then, Harry’s dark face suddenly appeared right in front of Dean. "Oh, thank God, Dean! I’ve finally found you!"

Dean quickly backed away. "Harry, you look a bit tired. How’s the case going?"

"Yes, I didn’t sleep all night." Harry sounded dejected. "The good news is, I got photos of those two scoundrels. The bad news is, they’ve used the Dagger Gang’s channels to leave the country. They might reach Mexico by tonight."

Those two might attract the unknown faction that wiped out the Turing Gang. It’s a good thing they’ve left Los Angeles, Dean thought, breathing a sigh of relief.

"Oh, right," Harry suddenly lowered his voice. "Dean, where did you take that last photo? On my way back today, my contact suddenly warned me that the Turing Gang’s top brass in Las Vegas were wiped out during a negotiation—a total double-cross. Their bodies were burned to a crisp."

"I was attending a friend’s funeral, saw a body on the road, and out of curiosity, snapped a picture to ask you about it."

"You didn’t witness that attack, did you?"

"Just a coincidence," Dean said resignedly. "And they weren’t just burned to a crisp; they were blown to ashes by a missile. Harry, you’re getting in too deep. If you don’t want trouble, I suggest you drop the investigation into those two!"

"Alright!" Harry visibly recoiled. "I did my best. I’ve done right by my friend."

He was loyal, but not foolish.

「Sharp at nine o’clock.」

Old Hunter, the deputy team leader, arrived late and clapped his hands to draw everyone’s attention. "Guys, gather in the meeting room! I have some great news to announce!"

"Deputy Team Leader, what’s the great news?" Phoebe asked curiously.

"You’ll know once you get inside," Old Hunter teased, keeping them in suspense.

Everyone filed into the meeting room. Dean, too, picked up his report and went inside.

Starting today, I’m going to completely shed this rookie status and start building my own team, bit by
