Sophie Smith knew she couldn’t out-talk Asher Land. Perhaps she should slowly get used to it—used to Asher Land’s tone of voice, his domineering and overbearing personality, everything about him—until he got bored of her.

"I want to get out of the car."

She didn’t know why, but a wave of nausea suddenly surged in her heart. Maybe she had eaten something bad at noon, and the cramped car felt a bit stuffy. She wanted to get some fresh air.

Asher Land steadily parked the car by the roadside. Sophie opened the door and swiftly ran to a nearby trash can.
