Chapter 35 - 35 35 Treasure at the Bottom of the Pond
35: Chapter 35: Treasure at the Bottom of the Pond 35: Chapter 35: Treasure at the Bottom of the Pond “Well then, may we meet again if fate allows,” Mo Changhen said with a smile upon hearing Chu Fengmian’s refusal.
“If Brother Chu wishes to join our Wusheng Academy, you can come directly to us.”
Mo Changhen could see that Chu Fengmian was not affiliated with any faction at the moment, merely a Loose Cultivator.
With such gifted talent, if he could be persuaded to join Wusheng Academy, it would significantly boost their standing within the academy.
Wusheng Academy itself was divided into countless factions and powers, and their group was one such small community.
Now, Mo Changhen also wanted to draw Chu Fengmian in.
“We’ll see,” Chu Fengmian said with a smile.
He hadn’t the slightest intention of joining any forces just yet, after all, the affairs of the Lin Estate were still unresolved.
The original aspirations of this body were goals that Chu Fengmian still aimed to fulfill.
“If Brother Chu has no urgent matters, you could also come to Wusheng Academy to hang out with us,” Hao Lan said with a laugh.
Unlike Mo Changhen, Hao Lan truly treated Chu Fengmian as a friend, even as a brother, which indeed made Chu Fengmian feel a strong sense of fondness toward Hao Lan.
“Sure,” Chu Fengmian replied with a smile and a nod.
The two groups then parted, heading off in different directions.
Mo Changhen and his group walked towards the edge of the Barbarian Mountain Range, while Chu Fengmian continued deeper into the mountains.
After an entire day, Chu Fengmian finally returned to the edge of the pond.
Chu Fengmian had come to the Barbarian Mountain Range for cultivation, and now, having acquired so many Demon Cores and the Phoenix Luan Grass, he felt his purpose was essentially fulfilled.
Chu Fengmian had intended to leave, but a sudden discovery prompted a new plan.
There was definitely something odd about the presence of this Phoenix Luan Grass.
Essentially, Phoenix Luan Grass grew from ancient phoenix blood merged into the soil, embodying the most exquisite and potent ancient Spiritual Power.
The role of Phoenix Luan Grass was to open up a Martial Artist’s Spirit Vein with the inherent ancient Spiritual Power, strengthening their bloodline and body, thus capable of cultivating unparalleled genius.
Generally, the places where Phoenix Luan Grass grew had ancient phoenix blood, often battlefields where ancient phoenixes had shed their blood.
To find even one was already incredibly rare, so the sudden appearance of five much indicated there must be some hidden secret.
There was even a possibility that this pond was the very spot where an ancient phoenix had perished.
If it were truly the resting ground of an ancient phoenix, then it was a tremendous treasure.
An ancient phoenix that had not been disrupted in ten thousand years—if any remnants or bones could be found, it would be immensely beneficial.
Thus, Chu Fengmian did not leave but chose to return to this pond to investigate further.
“There’s something off about this pond,” Chu Fengmian mused as he approached the water’s edge, bending over to touch the pond water.
The water in the pond was chilling to the bone, likely even colder than ice, yet it had not frozen.
Only a formidable force could create such an extraordinary phenomenon of nature.
“The pond is unfathomably deep; there must be something hidden within,” Chu Fengmian thought to himself.
All signs pointed below the surface of the pond.
“Let’s go.”
Chu Fengmian looked around, and seeing no one, took a leap into the pond.
The icy pond water made Chu Fengmian shiver instantly.
The water was far too cold, and even though Chu Fengmian had reached the eighth level of the Bone Tempering stage, and his body had grown much stronger, the frigid water still made him tremble uncontrollably.
Chu Fengmian’s mind stirred, and he dispersed the Spiritual Power within his body to every part, which made him feel much warmer.
Only then did he stabilize his body and swim toward the depths of the pool.
The water in this pool was extremely cold; the deeper Chu Fengmian swam, the colder it became.
This rapid consumption of Spiritual Power inside Chu Fengmian’s body.
If this consumption continued, he feared he could only last for about a minute before it was completely depleted.
“Ancient aura!”
The moment he dove deep into the pool, Chu Fengmian’s eyes widened.
At the bottom of the pool, he sensed a faint Spiritual Power, an extremely ancient and powerful one.
“There really is something hidden beneath this pool!”
Chu Fengmian thought excitedly.
If he could obtain some treasures of the ancient phoenix, Chu Fengmian would soar to the skies.
But now, Chu Fengmian’s Spiritual Power was almost exhausted.
“No, I’m so close; I must investigate!”
Chu Fengmian said angrily in his heart.
The treasure was within reach; how could Chu Fengmian possibly give up now!
“Right!”
Suddenly, Chu Fengmian thought of something—he reached into his storage pouch and pulled out a jade bottle, which he opened.
In it, a green pill now clutched tightly in the palm of his hand.
Jade Dew Pill.
Before leaving the Lin residence, the Third Elder had specifically given this pill to Chu Fengmian, which he had yet to refine during his cultivation in the Savage Mountain Range.
Now, if he wanted to continue diving and replenish his Spiritual Power, this Jade Dew Pill was the best way to do it!
“Never mind, I can only risk it!”
Chu Fengmian’s gaze turned cold, and he placed the Jade Dew Pill into his mouth.
Refining a pill was a task that required full concentration and should be done in a quiet place.
Now, in the depths of this pool, Chu Fengmian had to constantly consume Spiritual Power to resist the cold.
Under such circumstances, he was forcibly refining the Jade Dew Pill.
This was an extremely dangerous thing to do.
Even Chu Fengmian felt uncertain, but this time he had no choice.
With a burst of courage, he had to explore this pool to the end.
As soon as the Jade Dew Pill entered his mouth, a burst of pure Spiritual Power exploded forth, greatly relieving Chu Fengmian’s pressure.
But Chu Fengmian dared not relax; this relief was only temporary.
Once the power of the Jade Dew Pill was completely exhausted, Chu Fengmian’s situation would become even more dangerous.
He had to make use of this time to head to the bottom of the pool.
“What is this?”
At the bottom of the tank, almost no sunlight could be seen; Chu Fengmian could only barely make out his surroundings by relying on his Spiritual Power.
“This looks like a gate of some sort?”
Chu Fengmian noticed something unusual about the shape on a giant stone beside the pool, revealing a peculiar expression in his eyes.
It was a door carved into the giant stone.
Who built a cave here at the bottom of the pool?
Chu Fengmian’s expression shifted slightly as he swam toward the giant stone.
Only when he approached did he clearly see the gate’s appearance.
At the center of this gate, a Spirit Sword that seemed to pierce through heaven and earth was engraved within.
