Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Soul Extraction
"Are you scared now?" Shi Feng halted his steps, his face still wearing that amused expression, as he said to Hee Xuan.
"Scared? Why would I be scared of you!" Just moments ago, Hee Xuan looked like a startled deer, but upon hearing Shi Feng’s words, he immediately toughened up: "My father is Hee Long, the Commander of the Demon Wolf Mercenary Group, a Martial King Realm powerhouse. If you dare to lay a finger on me, no matter where you run, to the ends of the earth or the farthest seas, my father will never let you off."
"That sounds quite familiar!" Shi Feng furrowed his brow, reminiscing, and then it came to him as he said, "Oh, I remember now. I heard something similar a few days ago, but the very next day, I beheaded his old man. I trust your father won’t be an exception."
Having said that, Shi Feng continued his approach towards Hee Xuan, "No! Don’t come any closer!" Hee Xuan barked out an order and immediately turned and executed his movement technique, attempting to escape.
With a mere thought from Shi Feng, Hee Xuan’s body abruptly lost control. His body, which had turned away, was controlled by an invisible force, forcibly twisted back to face Shi Feng once again.
Seeing the smile still hanging on Shi Feng’s face as he closed the distance step by step, the previously harmless-looking youth now appeared in Hee Xuan’s eyes like a death-dealing demon. In the demon’s hand shimmered a bizarrely red Blood Sword, glaringly bright under the sunlight. The sharp, blood-gleaming edge of the blade was like the Death God Scythe harvesting lives.
Hee Xuan even regretted in his heart why he had needlessly provoked this demon. It was just for cutting in line, merely to assert his status in Demon Beast City, and now it had come at the cost of his life.
He could have stayed far away from this demon, going on as strangers henceforth. Yet, because of a moment of stubborn pride, he had followed here and delivered his life to be taken.
Hee Xuan felt regret. If only the world had a pill for regret, he would definitely have chosen not to provoke this person. But now, death was inching closer to him.
Of all the people from the Demon Wolf Mercenary Group who had come here, Shi Feng noticed that Hee Xuan’s Soul Power was the strongest among them.
"No! Don’t come any closer! Don’t kill me, as long as you don’t, I promise to give you ten thousand Primordial Stones! No! A hundred thousand!" Hee Xuan begged, "As long as you spare me, I can talk to my dad, let you be the Vice Commander of our Demon Wolf Mercenary Group!"
With every step Shi Feng took closer, fear spread further and further in Hee Xuan’s heart. Feeling the approach of death and imagining the Blood Sword’s sharp edge slashing across his neck, Hee Xuan’s large frame couldn’t help but tremble.
"Somebody save me! Sky Wolf! Lonely Wolf! Dad! Weiy Han! Anyone, please save me! I don’t want to die!" Terror forced Hee Xuan to shut his eyes, not daring to look at Shi Feng, and certainly not the blood-light emanating from the sword in his hand.
Suddenly, Hee Xuan felt as if his whole body had shot up into the sky, "Has a master come to save me?" This was the first thought to appear in Hee Xuan’s mind.
Right after that, he felt the whole world spinning around him. Opening his eyes, his pupils dilated in an instant. Hee Xuan abruptly saw the ground below and standing there was a youth holding a sword and, in front of the youth, a headless body with a neck still spurting fresh blood.
"Is this... mine..."
After executing Hee Xuan with one strike, Shi Feng began to devour the Power of Death, the flesh, and the blood; the headless corpse before him deflated like a leaky balloon, shriveling up rapidly.
Shi Feng raised his head to sheathe his sword, looking up at the severed head descending from mid-air. Clasping his hands, he formed seals, and a series of ghastly white runes, twisted and eerie, emerged from his hands, drifting upward toward Hee Xuan’s head, burrowing one by one into the center of his forehead.
By the time the head fell, Shi Feng reached out to seize it as if catching a ball, grabbed Hee Xuan’s head with one hand, and used his movement technique. With a few leaps, he had returned to the front of the mountain and then jumped toward the cave at its waist.
In the gloomy cave, Yuel Wushuang remained unconscious, with the fire by her side continuing to burn.
After returning to the cave, Shi Feng tossed the head towards Yuel Wushuang. Just as the head was about to crash onto Yuel Wushuang’s head, it suddenly halted in the void. Shi Feng channeled his Soul Power, pressing it towards the head suspended in mid-air, and swiftly extracted Hee Xuan’s soul from the skull.
"You’ll never die a peaceful death, and even as a ghost, I’ll never let you go! You’ll never die a peaceful death!" From a fist-sized, semi-transparent soul, Hee Xuan’s curse and resentful words emanated.
Shi Feng couldn’t care less, for this scoundrel would not even have the chance to become a ghost. With a thought, he erased all of Hee Xuan’s consciousness from the soul, leaving only the purest essence to flow into the center of Yuel Wushuang’s forehead, nourishing her Soul Power.
"Hmm!" In her coma, Yuel Wushuang, feeling her soul being nourished, suddenly let out a contented moan.
After Shi Feng had done all this, the head no longer had any use. With a gesture of his hand, he drew the head into his grasp and, as if disposing of trash, tossed it out of the cave.
Looking towards Yuel Wushuang, Shi Feng murmured, "This girl should be able to wake up before long."
Then, Shi Feng walked out of the cave again, went to the mouth of the cave, and once more leaped down from the mountainside.
On the ground, there were still fifteen Martial Artists from the Demon Wolf Mercenary Group and fifteen Demon Wolves. Shi Feng had merely injured the meridians throughout their bodies and had spared their lives for now.
Shi Feng flicked his fingers, sending streams of Rune Imprints into the bodies of those Martial Artists. These imprints were the same kind as those placed within Hee Xuan’s body; as long as they were embedded, the freedom and life of these people would hinge on a single thought from Shi Feng.
"Start healing your injuries. If in one hour I find that your wounds have not healed, then you can join Hee Xuan below," Shi Feng said coldly. Even with damaged meridians, their Nine-star Martial Master and Nine-star Martial Spirit Martial Arts Cultivation was enough for recovery in an hour.
Moreover, these mercenaries who had been accustomed to roaming the Demon Beast Mountains always carried medicine for healing wounds with them.
These Martial Artists understood that their lives were in the control of this young man when Shi Feng embedded the Rune Imprints within them. They had no doubt that the young man would show them no mercy, as even the Young Captain Hee Xuan had been cut down by his sword, and his bodily nutrients absorbed. That scene had chilled many to the bone; imagining what it would be like if the shriveled body lying there were their own...
They dared not continue the thought, focusing instead on how to survive, escape the dire fate, and now the only way to live was to do as the young man said, without defiance.
Seeing the members of the Demon Wolf Mercenary Group beginning to heal themselves, Shi Feng turned his gaze toward a Demon Wolf, the one that belonged to Hee Xuan.
