Nine Nether Heavenly Emperor -
Chapter 47 Yin Yang Envoys
Chapter 47: Chapter 47 Yin Yang Envoys
Shi Feng and Zhang Hu walked together, encountering several powerful inscriptions along the way. Most of these were from former Martial Emperors, some of whom Shi Feng had read about in ancient texts. Few had dared to enter the Ice Evil Punishment Heaven Array.
Most knew their limits and chose not to proceed.
However, those who entered the Ice Evil Punishment Heaven Array were all Nine-star Peak Martial Emperors, once the strongest under the sky.
Seeing the marks left by these Nine-star Peak Martial Emperors, Shi Feng felt a wave of emotion. They were just like him in his early days, following the same path, striving for the God Realm without success. Had he entered here back then, perhaps he would have ended up the same.
Only he could truly understand what they felt at that moment.
"My heavens, my heavens, Yunlai Empire has had so many Martial Emperors visit this place. Oh, my!" Zhang Hu exclaimed as they walked, the sights and events from just these two days alone could make history in the Yunlai Empire.
Afterward, Shi Feng and Zhang Hu reached a circular array about two meters in diameter, covered in runes. Zhang Hu followed Shi Feng, stepping into it.
Immediately, the space started to twist and turn, changing dramatically. Once the space stabilized, they had returned to their original world, surrounded by a barren, desolate land where no grass grew.
Now, Shi Feng understood how this black land that emitted a chilling aura came to be—it was clearly the attribute of the Sacred Flame’s power.
For tens of thousands of years, it had assaulted the Ice Evil Punishment Heaven Array, breaking through a crack a few years ago. Energy had leaked from that realm, destroying the surrounding land.
This testified to the strength of the Sacred Flame in ancient times, the power of the Ice Evil Punishment Heaven Array, and the might of Ancient Supreme Power.
"What unforgivable act did you commit back then to be sealed by an Ancient Supreme Power using the Ice Evil Punishment Heaven Array, and even had the Tianmu Ice Soul Peak moved from the North Domain to suppress you?" Shi Feng asked the Sacred Flame.
"Humph, my strength is beyond the comprehension of mere ants like you. It is common for the powerful to be envied since ancient times," the Sacred Flame replied.
"Bullshit!" Shi Feng retorted.
"Phew, we’re finally out; we can finally see the light of day again," Zhang Hu looked up at the sky and exclaimed. As they left that world, the tension in his nerves finally relaxed.
These short two days felt like a very long time.
"Alright, your task is complete, you can go back to Long Chen now," Shi Feng told Zhang Hu.
"What about you, Young Master Feng?" Zhang Hu asked.
"I’ve already said, I’m off to Moon City to deal with those two clowns," Shi Feng replied.
"But I heard from the Fourth Prince that those coming after you are two Nine-star Martial Spirit Peak experts from the Skywind Sect. With your talent, why not find a safe place to cultivate properly and confront them when you’re stronger?" Zhang Hu advised.
Shi Feng, hearing this, let out a cold snort, "The path of Martial Arts demands pushing forward bravely. Now that just two clowns have come knocking, I cannot be the one who hides. This would affect my martial arts beliefs. How then can I speak of reaching the peaks of Martial Arts in the future?"
Shi Feng finished speaking and, paying no further attention to Zhang Hu, made his way alone towards Moon City.
"Ah..." Watching Shi Feng’s figure recede into the distance, Zhang Hu could only sigh helplessly, "The Holy Emperor’s health worsens day by day, and, including Prince Long Chen, his five sons have been currying favor with the Skywind Sect in recent years. They all hope that on the day of the Holy Emperor’s demise, Skywind Sect will help them secure the Imperial Throne and command the world.
Prince Long Chen has shown me great kindness, and as a subordinate of His Highness, I am bound to support his cause. Your feud with Skywind Sect is something I simply cannot assist with."
"Ah..." Zhang Hu sighed deeply again, a melancholic side of this normally iron-boned, imposing man laid bare on this dark land for all to see.
Moon City, veiled by dark clouds today, was enveloped in a haze that mirrored the mood of its citizens. The usually bustling city, its lively streets, teahouses, and taverns were now eerily silent and cold, resembling a ghost town.
A prelude to a storm brewing.
This morning, a piece of news spread through Moon City: People from Skywind Sect had arrived!
The cause of Hai Batian’s death had already swept through the city; it started with a young man who had killed a Second-stage Refiner from Skywind Sect right in Moon City.
Recalling the prestigious status of a Second-stage Refiner and the ruthlessness Skywind Sect was known for in the Yunlai Empire, along with their bloody methods and histories of annihilating cities, a brief message threw the whole city into an uproar, and the crowds began rushing towards the city gates.
But what followed plunged them into deeper despair—the city gates had been sealed. At each of the four city gates stood a Martial Artist from Skywind Sect, and any citizen or low-level Martial Artists attempting to forcefully leave were mercilessly slaughtered by Skywind Sect’s enforcers.
Under the oppressive tactics of Skywind Sect, the citizens of Moon City came to grips with their dire situation. One by one, they returned home in resignation, closed their doors, and awaited the fate that was to befall them. Some even hid in cellars, hoping to miraculously survive the ordeal.
"Ah..." From within a tightly shut door, a deep sigh emerged, "It’s just our misfortune to be caught in a fight between warriors. Of all people, why did that young man have to kill a refiner from Skywind Sect? Ah... Our entire city is suffering because of him, and now, he’s nowhere to be found, leaving us to bear the brunt."
"Shush, be careful. Do you have a death wish? That man is a madman; he even dared to kill Hai Batian. If he happens to pass by and overhear us, our whole family could be dead right now!"
"Ah..."
In the central area of Moon City stood its tallest structure—the grand statue of Long Zaitian, the founding Emperor of the Yunlai Empire.
The colossal statue, clasping a scepter, stood godlike between heaven and earth. Atop the statue’s head, two figures, one in red and one in white, faced the fierce wind with hands clasped behind their backs, looking down upon the entirety of Moon City.
These two men, adorned in Skywind Sect attire, were both Nine-star Martial Spirit Peak Experts, based on the terrifying aura they exuded.
One clad in red and one in white, they embodied Yin and Yang respectively and were known as the Yin Yang Envoys of the Skywind Sect. In the Yunlai Empire, where anyone defied the authority of the Skywind Sect, these two powerful enforcers were dispatched to control life and death, thus earning them the name, Life and Death Envoys.
One represented Yin, one represented Yang; one represented life, one represented death.
The Yin Envoy was clad in pristine white, with white hair cascading over his shoulders. Even his stern face, his beard, and his hands were all stark white.
While the Yang Envoy was in stark contrast, dressed in red, with red hair and a red beard, making a vivid contrast with the white of the Yin Envoy beside him.
