Chapter 296: Chapter 296: Fire Burning Floating Void Mountain
"Mm!" After listening to Shi Ling’s words, Shi Feng nodded. Today, Shi Feng was going to blood-wash the Floating Void Sect, and these servants could be spared, especially since some of them had been quite kind to Shi Ling.
However, Shi Feng saw a young man kneeling at the very back of the crowd, with sneaky eyes that kept darting towards him. While kneeling, the young man was slowly shifting his legs backward, clearly up to no good.
Shi Feng’s right hand transformed into a claw, and suddenly, a ghastly pale Ghost Claw materialized behind the kneeling crowd, grabbing the young man and lifting him into the air.
"Ah! Ah!" The body suddenly seized by a great force, the man shouted in alarm. When he saw that it was a ghastly pale Ghost Claw that had grabbed him, his face turned to terror, "Please spare me, I beg you, spare me, Little Ling’er!" As the man pleaded with Shi Feng, he looked pitifully at Shi Ling.
"Brother, it’s him! I went hungry because he stole my steamed buns, and he also took the Jade Pendant that Mother had me wear since I was little." Shi Ling, pointing with her little hand at the man caught by the Ghost Claw and suspended mid-air, pouted to Shi Feng.
"I was wrong, Little Ling’er, please forgive me, I won’t dare to do it again," the young man continued to plead desperately, his face full of remorse.
But just because he realized his mistake and regretted it, didn’t mean things would just pass. The ghastly pale Ghost Claw gradually faded into the Void, taking the young man with it. Soon after, a piercingly miserable scream came from the invisible air, "Ah!" Before long, the entire courtyard returned to silence.
Shi Feng opted to let the Ghost Claw drag the man into the Void to be crushed to death, fearing that Shi Ling would be frightened by his ghastly Death Method.
Then, a green Jade Pendant fell from the Void, and Shi Feng reached out his hand, catching it perfectly in his palm.
On the front of the pendant was a twisting "Ling" character. Shi Ling had worn this pendant around her neck ever since Bai Yue’e had snatched it from the mountains when she was a child. It was because of this peculiar, rune-like "Ling" character that her mother had named her Shi Ling.
Shi Feng caught the Jade Pendant and then hung it back around his sister’s neck. Shi Ling cooperatively bowed her little head.
This pendant, Shi Feng knew, was incredibly important to his sister; it was a clue to finding her true relatives in the future.
After that, Shi Feng’s gaze continued to sweep over the servants in the courtyard, asking Shi Ling, "Is there anyone else here who used to bully you?"
Shi Ling looked down at the people kneeling before her, her gaze scanning over them. A few of them, when swept by her look, trembled in shock. Although they hadn’t directly bullied Shi Ling like the previous man, they had mocked and jeered when Shi Ling went from being a respected Floating Void Sect Disciple to a lowly servant.
These people had been servants from the moment they entered the Floating Void Sect, enslaved and serving those esteemed Disciples every day. Naturally, their hearts had become twisted and bitter, and while they saw Shi Ling had become like them, they were still uncomfortable thinking about her former noble status.
After looking over these people, Shi Ling then said to Shi Feng, "Brother, no more."
As Shi Ling’s gaze swept over these people, Shi Feng naturally noticed a few odd ones in the crowd, but the little girl was magnanimous and didn’t want to fuss over it with them, so he let it be. To him, these people were no more than a bunch of ants.
When they heard Shi Ling’s words, the few who had been tense immediately relaxed, their eyes filled with gratitude as they looked at Shi Ling on Shi Feng’s shoulder.
"Let’s go," Shi Feng whispered to Shi Ling.
"Mm," Shi Ling obediently nodded her head, stretching out her left hand to wrap around Shi Feng’s neck. Then Shi Feng turned around, his figure flashed, and he shot up into the sky, swiftly leaving the courtyard and vanishing from the eyes of the group of servants.
The servants stood there, dumbstruck, looking into the void where the two had disappeared. "My God, Shi Ling’s brother is actually one of the legendary Martial Artists who can fly and tunnel through the earth," one servant exclaimed. "Even after all these years at the Floating Void Sect, I’ve barely seen a few Genius Disciples who could do that."
"But, after all, the Floating Void Sect is still the Floating Void Sect. Now that Little Ling’er’s brother has killed the fat lady, won’t the sect pursue them?" another said with a worried look on his face; this person was the same Uncle Li who had once seen little Shi Ling going hungry and had shared a bun with her.
"Sigh! Who knows, the world of the Martial Artists is not something we can interfere with. We’d better mind our own business and think about what to do next."
..
Shi Feng, carrying Shi Ling, landed on the first stone step on Floating Void Mountain. Above them was a dense array of steps stretching all the way to the summit.
Following these steps, Shi Feng, with Shi Ling in tow, climbed toward the mountaintop one step at a time. Before long, Shi Feng’s body suddenly erupted with intense blood-colored flames, spreading to the left, right, and above. From this point, Shi Feng was ready to set the Floating Void Mountain and the Floating Void Sect on fire.
The ferocious blood-colored flames quickly ignited the area, turning it into a bizarre Blood-colored Sea of Fire. The fierce flames continued to ravage in all directions, expanding further.
Walking through the Sea of Fire, Shi Feng continued to step onto the stairs. Amidst the journey, Shi Ling, sitting on Shi Feng’s shoulder, tightened her grip on Shi Feng’s neck even more. Shi Feng clearly felt that seeing such a fierce Blood-colored Sea of Fire and walking through it scared the little girl.
"Good girl! Don’t be afraid, Ling’er. This is brother’s flame. It will only burn the bad people, not us, and definitely won’t hurt our Ling’er," Shi Feng reassured Shi Ling.
"Mm!" After hearing Shi Feng’s words, Shi Ling obediently nodded her little head, then slowly loosened her grip from around Shi Feng’s neck, saying, "I knew brother was the strongest. Whenever someone bullied Ling’er when I was little, brother was the one who helped me, and it’s the same now." In the little girl’s heart, brother Shi Feng was her entire world; as long as she had her brother, even if the sky fell, he would be there to support her.
The Blood-colored Sea of Fire burned more violently by the second, reaching halfway up the mountain in an instant. On the mountaintop square, over five hundred Floating Void Sect Martial Artists were still staring intently at the Mysterious Light Mirror in the sky. They watched the eerily beautiful Blood-colored Sea of Fire in the mirror and the two figures moving through it. Even from the mountaintop, they could feel a strange, chilling power emanating from halfway up the mountain, which made their hearts tremble.
"This power... the fire’s level, it must have reached at least the Sixth-stage Earth Fire level! Earth Fire! This person actually possesses Sixth-stage Earth Fire!" Du Qi also stared at the Mysterious Light Mirror, his voice filled with shock. There may be individuals in the Heavenly Mist Empire who had Earth Fire, but surely no more than three.
