Nine Nether Heavenly Emperor -
Chapter 106: I Killed Him
Chapter 106: Chapter 106: I Killed Him
Shi Feng and Shadow No.8 were in the midst of flight when suddenly, an eagle flew toward them from the front and landed on Shadow No.8’s shoulder. Shadow No.8 took a Jade Scroll tied to the eagle’s leg, placed it against his forehead, and read its contents.
A black cloth perpetually veiled Shadow No.8’s face, so although Shi Feng couldn’t see any change in his expression, he did see his eyes slowly widening, betraying a look of great surprise.
After Shadow No.8 put the Jade Scroll away, he took a deep breath and lamented to Shi Feng, "It seems the Yunlai Empire is headed for great chaos."
"What happened?" Shi Feng asked.
"Some days ago, wasn’t Feng Yunxiao, the number one Alchemy Master of the Skywind Sect, and the Young Prince from the Golden Peng Royal Mansion murdered? We just received news that all of the Royal Mansion’s experts, as well as the ten thousand troops they led, along with all the high-ranking experts from the Skywind Sect, have been killed! Ten thousand troops, and fifty experts of the Martial King Realm—gone just like that. Only the Golden Peng King and Feng Luohan managed to escape from the Demon Beast Mountain Range, covered in disgrace. No one knows what they encountered or what happened inside the mountain range," said Shadow No.8.
Upon hearing Shadow No.8’s words, Shi Feng thought darkly that these two had big fates to not have been killed by that person who was like Li Liuxin, yet not Li Liuxin.
"There’s also been another significant event in the Demon Beast Mountain Range," Shadow No.8 continued. "Lei Xiao, the Young Lord of the Purple Thunder Sect, Xue Youu, the Young Lord of Blood Fiend Gate, and Xueh Yiyi, the Holy Maiden from the Ice Snow Valley, were slain at the edge of the mountain range. Someone found the corpses of Xue Youu and Xueh Yiyi; their bodies were shriveled up with all their blood drained dry, a macabre scene reminiscent of the infamous Evil Technique of the Blood Fiend Gate, the Bloodthirsty Demon Art."
As Shadow No.8 spoke, he suddenly startled and looked at Shi Feng with an odd gaze. Opening his mouth, he said, "Young Master Feng, if the intelligence collected by our Shadow is correct, you’re the one who killed the Yin Yang Envoys of the Skywind Sect and seems to have consumed their blood, could it be..."
"That’s right, those people you mentioned were indeed killed by me," Shi Feng nodded, and indeed, among those he referenced were Feng Yunxiao and Jin Lin.
This... he’s actually the one who did it! My god, the heirs of the Three Major Sects were slain by his hand. He’d already begun provoking the Skywind Sect before; is there anything this man cannot do?
"This is terrible!" exclaimed Shadow No.8. "Back in Moon City, many had already seen the corpses of the Yin Yang Envoys. It’s likely the Skywind Sect has detailed records in their reports. Sooner or later, those Three Major Sects will trace it back to you."
After listening to Shadow No.8, Shi Feng still appeared indifferent, remarking, "Let them come if they will. Whoever comes, I’ll send them to their deaths. I’ve long had a feud with that so-called Skywind Sect. One or two more sects don’t make much difference. The day I leave the Yunlai Empire, I will eradicate all these sects, valleys, and gates."
Shadow No.8 bitterly smiled inwardly, thinking there was no reasoning with this person. Despite his good intentions, Shi Feng responded with such arrogant indifference, unaware of the depth of the heavens and the earth.
At that moment, Shadow No.8 could only hope that this man wouldn’t bring disaster upon his master.
Afterward, they no longer spoke, and Shi Feng began to circulate the Nine Nether Technique, absorbing the Dark Evil Qi emanating from Shadow No.8, and commenced his cultivation.
The Ghost Wolf had flown in the sky for about half a day when a tall, bustling, and prosperous city gradually came into view for the group. At a glance, below were countless little black dots—an immense population. Compared to this city, Moon City felt like a place where beggars dwelled.
From a distance, Shi Feng could see a resplendent, awe-inspiring architectural colossus towering majestically between heaven and earth.
Shadow No.8 spoke, "We’ve arrived; this city is the Imperial City." Following that, Shadow No.8 pointed towards a distant tall building with an extraordinary aura and said, "That’s the Imperial Palace. Flight within the Imperial City is forbidden, so we should land the demon beast first."
"Mhm," Shi Feng nodded, then commanded the Ghost Wolf to descend toward the city gate.
"This is your master’s token, take it with you. With this, moving around and getting things done in the Imperial City will be much easier." Shadow No.8 handed over a gold token to Shi Feng, on which the character "Long" was engraved in an elegant, dragon-like script.
Shi Feng took it from Shadow No.8’s hand and tossed the token into his storage ring.
The Ghost Wolf descended, landing not far from the city gate. Shi Feng chose not to land directly at the city gate because, at the moment, the gate was bustling and packed with people, carriages, and various livestock and demon beasts.
"Ghost Wolf, go for a stroll outside on your own. I’ll call for you when I need you," Shi Feng told the Ghost Wolf.
With a roar, the Ghost Wolf howled and, flapping its black wings, took to the skies once more.
Without waiting for Shi Feng’s order, Dark Evil burrowed underground.
"That’s enough, you can leave me here. It should be easy to inquire about Long Chen’s residence," Shi Feng said to Shadow No.8.
"Then I shall take my leave," Shadow No.8 replied, his dark silhouette leaping towards the crowd, swiftly blending in amongst the throng of people.
Shi Feng also entered the crowd, slowly making his way toward the city gate with the flow of people.
"It’s been such a long time; I wonder if mother is still doing well," Shi Feng murmured to himself. In his previous life, he had no family bonds and had only experienced the feeling of kinship in this life. Recalling the days before he regained his past life’s memories, though impoverished, the warmth of being with his closest kin filled his heart.
And there was Ling’er, that clever little girl. Despite her young age, she was very sensible, learning how to do laundry and cook at an early age. While other children had sweets to enjoy, she, too, craved them but knew the circumstances of her family too well to ever ask to buy some.
Shi Feng remembered once buying a skewer of candied haw for the little one. She secretly saved it, taking days to bring herself to eat just one piece, only to find that the remaining half had been stolen by a rat. The little girl was heartbroken for many days.
"Ah!" Reflecting on the past with its laughter and tears, hardships and joy, Shi Feng shook his head with a light sigh, "Mother, your son will never let you suffer again. I will return all your grievances a thousandfold, a hundredfold."
"Ling’er, just wait for brother! Sooner or later, I’ll bring you back, let you live a good life, and grow up happy and carefree. If they dare to bully you, brother will make them pay a thousandfold, a hundredfold."
Following the stream of people, Shi Feng successfully entered the Imperial City.
"Eh?" Not long into his walk, Shi Feng was startled. Ahead, he caught sight of a familiar figure in white robes, long hair cascading down like a waterfall, a slender figure, and a delicate waist that could be encompassed in a single grip.
