Chapter 89: SNUCK OUT UNDER EVERYONE’S NOSE
"Brother Ivan!"
Worried voices rang out simultaneously.
Fortunately, Hugh caught him in time before he met the ground.
With raised eyebrows, he asked. "Still think you should continue to train? Controlling aura sucks up energy, especially since it’s your first time succeeding in doing so."
Hugo came forward and patted Ivan on the shoulder. "Go rest, Prince. I don’t want your father on my neck."
Ivan nodded weakly. He really felt like his energy had been sapped.
"Let us help you, brother Ivan." Aristia suggested and came to hold his arm to support him. Beatrix came over too and the two of them supported each of his arm.
Ivan felt a little embarrassed but he had no strength to protest.
"You were amazing, brother Ivan. You don’t need to feel embarrassed. Plus we are your family. Family help each other out. " Aristia comforted him. She could tell that he was feeling embarrassed from almost falling.
"Tia’s right, Ivan. We’ll always help each other." Beatrix supported.
Ivan watched both of them for a moment before nodding tiredly. "You’re both right. Then help me to the bench, I still want to watch the training."
They led him to the bench and he sat down to rest.
"Thank you," he smiled and patted their heads.
Aristia gestured across the field, and Adeline came over. She bowed respectfully, then asked when she noticed Ivan. "Is his highness alright?"
[Can you not sound so perfunctory when it comes to someone other than me?] Aristia was a bit amused.
Adeline didn’t sound worried or surprised as a servant normally would and should be on seeing their kingdom’s Crown Prince in such a weak state. She seemed to be asking the question just for the sake of it.
Even her glance at Ivan remained just that— a glance that didn’t even last five seconds.
"Linny, please make us glasses of orange juices." Aristia instructed.
"Yes, Princess." Adeline nodded and left to complete her task.
Adeline, Sienna and Rosalind were the only servants allowed to enter the training grounds when the children were training. Now, the princesses’ new maids were included in that list.
The other servants only knew that the prince trained every morning and the princesses along with the youngest prince went with him to watch him. They just knew that they suddenly strangely began putting on male clothes to watch Ivan.
Aristia always wondered why because the servants back at the mansion entered and exited the mansion freely, even during her training.
[Maybe they all took oaths of loyalty or silence?] That was her only explanation for it that actually made a bit of sense.
The Captains resumed the training after making sure that Ivan was alright.
Not long after, Adeline arrived with the glasses of orange juice.
The training was over and it was time for breakfast.
After breakfast, it was time for the other classes the children had that day.
The only person who didn’t have a class to attend was Alaric as he wasn’t of age yet.
Right now, he was with his mother, aunt and grandmother in the Royal Greenhouse.
King Fedor, on the other hand, was in a meeting with his Ministers. Grandpa Melvin and Wilson were part of the king’s Council of Ministers and were thus present.
Aristia could guess that it was probably related to the famine.
She had history first. After that was etiquette and then dance.
Meanwhile, Beatrix and Serina had music, then history and art. Ivan, on the other hand, had archery class.
Aristia returned to her room.
Adeline came in minutes later.
Behind her, some servants carried buckets of water and headed to the bathroom to prepare the bath.
As per Aristia’s request, only Adeline would bath her. The rest of the maids would help in getting the bath ready, except on special occasions when her mother deemed she needed more hands on her to help in dolling her up.
Adeline also asked to be the one to choose the clothes Aristia would wear. She loved to dress up her princess. It sounded to Aristia like she was a doll.
After bathing and dressing up, she headed to the venue for the history lesson.
The palace was very quiet and the servants went about their duties silently, not wanting to disturb the quiet atmosphere enveloping the palace.
Minutes later, Aristia arrived at a gazebo. It was white and there were vines growing around the top and entertwined in the pillars. The vines looked trimmed and well groomed. It didn’t make it look out of place or neglected, rather it added to the beauty of the gazebo. There were a few colourful flowers surrounding the gazebo.
There was a small bridge leading over the water and connecting to the gazebo’s entrance. Beneath it was a little pond.
Water lilies floated above the water and little colorful fishes swam about in the water. Aristia walked through the bridge and up the short steps leading up to the gazebo’s entrance and entered the gazebo.
She looked around the gazebo. "It’s even more beautiful from the inside," she muttered beneath her breath.
The view was magnificent. Coupled with the serene atmosphere and the occasional jumping of the colorful fishes above the water, it created a different air.
There were stone benches in the gazebo. In the middle, there was a round stone table with two chairs placed opposite each other.
Aristia took a seat and waited for her tutor. The Viscountess wasn’t late, she just decided to come early.
Even so, someone arriving after a noble of higher rank or even a member of the Royal family had already arrived, even if she wasn’t necessarily late, was considered an offense.
It was stupid. She knew.
[Makes it easier for some people to find trouble if they want to.] Aristia shook her head.
Nevertheless, Aristia didn’t care about such things. She sat silently in the gazebo and mused about her progress in this world. She might have seemed like she was taking everything just fine, but it wasn’t all the case.
Even after months, she was still coming to terms with the fact that she was inside a fantasy, living someone else’s life, and that she might never see her family again.
It was a bizarre occurence and for the first time in her life, she felt fear— fear of what was to come. If it were in the real world, she might have still been able to find a way back, but this wasn’t the real world.
It was way out of her expectations and she didn’t know what to expect as anything could happen against the normal logic. She wondered if she would ever leave this world and get to see her family again.
As she was still in her inner musings, she heard steady footsteps approach.
"Your Highness, I see you’re already here. Forgive me for my lateness and making you wait." Viscountess Vasily bowed in apology when she sighted Aristia already seated.
Aristia waved her hand in dismissal. "You’re not late, Viscountess Hemsworth. It’s alright."
Viscountess Vasily Hemsworth nodded with a cheeky smile and took her seat opposite her pupil.
"Did you enjoy the banquet, princess?" Vasily asked as she settled in.
"It was so-so." Aristia shrugged with an uninterested look on her face.
Vasily chuckled in amusement and took out the book they were using to study.
She paused her movements and looked up at Aristia.
"But you did enjoy the festival?" Her movements continued like it hadn’t stopped at all.
Aristia stopped and her head snapped up to look at Vasily. Shock appeared in her gaze.
[So, she knows we snuck out of the palace?] Aristia thought.
Vasily chuckled wordlessly at her pupil’s apparent surprise.
’You thought I wouldn’t notice?’ Her gaze was filled with amusement.
In the middle of the banquet, she had caught sight of the princesses moving out of the hall.
At first, she hadn’t given it much thought, until all three of them had left the hall. Her brows raised when she saw another of her pupils, the only child of Marquis Eldridge, following behind.
However, from the little girl’s expression, it was clear she wasn’t in the know about what the princesses were up to.
Her husband had also noticed this. "What is my niece up to?" He muttered from beside her.
The princesses and the Young Miss Eldridge only returned a long while later, trailing behind their mothers.
But even though the mothers’ expressions didn’t reveal anything, Vasily could tell something was up.
It was only after that her husband heard from his cousin sister after asking her about it that he discovered that his niece had snuck out of the palace with the others to see the festival. He had told her about it, and Vasily had been greatly amused even though she was both impressed and stunned that they could succeed in sneaking out of the palace right under everyone’s noses.
Now, Aristia continued to gaze at her with surprise. She had really underestimated Vasily’s sharp, observant eyes.
Vasily laughed again. "You never fail to leave me surprised."
Aristia sighed and shook her head. Vasily was too observant.
"Let’s begin the lesson, now." Vasily said. "You will be given a test to refresh your memory in case you have forgotten anything after having no classes for two weeks."
She placed a stack of paper on the table. "These are questions I prepared for you to test your knowledge. You have half an hour to complete them."
Aristia nodded in understanding and took the book. She flipped it open to the first page and skimmed through it.
[This is too easy.]
"Viscountess Hemsworth?" She called as she answered the first five questions.
[The name of the kingdom? Amberale. Its capital? Belonmusk. How many continents are there? Two continents, Yosanda and Altunia. What Continent does Amberale belong to? Yosanda. Kingdom’s god? Lord Nerin Von Cali...]
Vasily Hemsworth looked up from the book she had been reading. "Is there a problem, princess?"
"Tell me about the former head of the Winston Duchy." Aristia said.
Her gaze at Vasily was knowing. [Since you’re so observant and knowledgeable, you should know about it.]
