National Forensic Doctor -
Chapter 87 - 87 Listing Remarks
87: Listing Remarks 87: Listing Remarks At the stroke of midnight on July 1st, “National Forensic Doctor” was on the shelves.
I can’t help but reminisce about the time my first book went on sale…
Lately, I’ve been prone to looking back, perhaps worried that I won’t be able to break through anymore.
When I occasionally glance at the group chat, many old readers are still there.
Many of them don’t really read my books anymore, but they persist in chatting in the group, which is both heartwarming and sad.
Breaking through has always been tough for an author.
When I decided to write a new book, I couldn’t help but look back at my previous works.
Often, I find it hard to determine if what I’m continuing is correct, if my breakthroughs are outdated, if there is a path to follow, or a new path to forge for the direction I’m moving in.
The inspiration for “National Forensic Doctor” came from “Crime Scene Investigation,” or the American TV show CSI.
It’s a show from almost 20 years ago, and I can hardly remember the stories now, but I’ve always been interested in the technical aspects involved in the show.
Crime investigation themes, or rather, crime dramas have always been my interest.
I’ve also always had the idea of writing a detective novel.
But in the past, when people mentioned detective novels, the first thing they thought of was Sherlock Holmes, they talked about Conan, they discussed reasoning…
A detective novel from a liberal arts student!
By comparison, TV shows like CSI tended to showcase more of the technical stuff.
Perhaps that’s just one of the differences in the ways film and novels are presented.
However, the medium of online novels actually has many advantages.
Especially the well-known technical genre, which I’m very good at, may be better suited for writing a detective novel from a science student’s perspective.
Let the technology do the talking.
That is how criminal investigations are conducted nowadays, after all.
However, during the writing process of this book, I also encountered many difficulties, both expected and unexpected.
For example, the various “can’t say” and different kinds of confidentiality, talking with some policemen, forensic doctors, or criminal investigators, and inevitably hitting upon a “Ah, this can’t be written,” or “Can’t talk about the specifics of this”…
Even when downloading papers, I often find that I can’t download or read them.
I guess that’s one of the reasons many authors are deterred from venturing into this field.
Of course, I always believe that the most important thing about a novel should be that it’s interesting.
A novel that can’t engage people, that doesn’t evoke a desire to read, what value does it have?
Fortunately, the market always provides significant feedback.
In the world of online novels, the readers’ ratings, subscriptions, rewards, and votes are the biggest evaluation system.
I hope to win everyone’s approval.
Tonight, my value will be determined by the readers.
Please be kind.
That’s all.
