Chapter 544 - 544: Impure World Reincarnation—Who Doesn’t Know It?
"According to reliable intelligence, Madara Uchiha has reincarnated the previous Kage of every ninja village."
"Three Tailed Beasts have already been captured."
"We can't just sit here and do nothing."
"In my opinion, we should immediately send people to guard the remaining Tailed Beasts."
"We must not let Madara succeed."
"If he gathers all the Tailed Beasts, it will be a disaster for the entire ninja world."
As the current Hokage, Minato sat at the head of the meeting room and was the first to speak.
All the veteran shinobi who hadn't attended a meeting in years were present, even Sarutobi Hiruzen had been called in.
Kawakaze's report sent a wave of shock through everyone. If Madara succeeded in capturing all the Tailed Beasts, his Eye of the Moon Plan would wipe out all life in the ninja world.
"You're right."
"Madara Uchiha is extremely dangerous."
"He has awakened the Rinnegan and is making extensive use of his master's forbidden techniques."
"We cannot afford to lower our guard."
Hiruzen Sarutobi spoke next, his expression grim. He was one of the few who had faced Madara directly and knew just how terrifying he was.
"We don't yet know exactly how many people Madara has reincarnated."
"But we can be sure that Nagato will be under his control."
"With the past Kage of each village and other powerful individuals under his command, the situation is looking very grim."
Kawakaze frowned. Just one Rinnegan was already difficult enough to deal with, but now there were two.
Tsunade, Minato, and Kushina, as Jinchūriki, would definitely be Madara's targets. No matter what, they couldn't allow his plan to succeed.
"I've reviewed the reports on the grave robberies."
"They include the previous Kage from each village, as well as Kinkaku and Ginkaku."
"The estimated number of reincarnated individuals is around twenty."
Nawaki provided a more precise figure. A force of roughly twenty Kage-level opponents was a huge burden for Konoha.
Among them, Kinkaku and Ginkaku were even stronger—once regarded as fighters who surpassed the Five Kage.
"Twenty..."
Tsunade absentmindedly tapped her finger on the table, a habit she had developed over the years.
She quickly ran the numbers in her head—Konoha had fewer than fifteen people capable of fighting opponents of this caliber.
In terms of manpower, they were already at a disadvantage. Against an army of this scale, sheer numbers wouldn't make a difference.
The more she thought about it, the heavier the weight on her heart became, and her expression darkened.
"Madara's goal is the Tailed Beasts."
"That means he will definitely come for them."
Jiraiya glanced at the three Jinchūriki present before continuing.
"If we don't want Konoha to be destroyed, we have to take the initiative."
"Impure World Reincarnation doesn't allow the resurrected to retain their full strength from when they were alive."
"We may be at a numerical disadvantage, but I don't think it's a major issue."
"The most urgent task right now, as Minato said, is stopping Madara Uchiha's plans."
"It's about time us old folks got moving."
He swept his gaze around the room, making his point clear—it was time for the retired shinobi to take action. Konoha and the ninja world needed their protection.
"The difference in numbers isn't necessarily an insurmountable problem."
Orochimaru spoke in a slow, eerie tone, instantly drawing everyone's attention.
His snake-like eyes gleamed with an unsettling light as he absentmindedly licked his lips.
"Impure World Reincarnation—do you think Madara is the only one who can use it?"
His next words ignited the entire room.
Of course. Konoha had never been robbed of its graves.
The two greatest figures were still resting peacefully at the center of the Memorial Stone.
"What do you mean?"
"Are you suggesting we summon my grandfather and great-uncle using Impure World Reincarnation?"
No one else dared to voice the question, but Tsunade had no such reservations.
"Not just them, but also Lady Mito."
A faint smile tugged at Orochimaru's lips. These three weren't just ordinary Kage-level shinobi.
"This... might not be appropriate," Hiruzen Sarutobi said, his brows furrowing. He disliked the thought of disturbing the ancestors who had long since found peace.
"I understand that this could be seen as disrespectful to our elders," Orochimaru replied.
"But given the dire circumstances, I can't say with absolute certainty that we have a better alternative."
"I'm sure that if they knew the situation, they wouldn't blame us."
"I agree with Orochimaru," Kawakaze said without waiting for Tsunade or Nawaki's opinion.
Orochimaru's suggestion had sparked an even greater ambition within him, but now wasn't the time to discuss it.
"I have no objections," Nawaki said without hesitation, standing firmly behind Kawakaze.
"I miss them too," Tsunade murmured.
With those words, the matter was settled.
"Alright."
"We'll split up."
"Lord Orochimaru, Lord Jiraiya, I'll need you both to head to the Forbidden Jutsu Chamber and study the Impure World Reincarnation technique."
"Sensei, I'll leave the remains of the First and Second Hokage to you and your wife."
"As for the rest of you, follow my instructions and be prepared to move out to the Tailed Beasts' locations at any time."
Minato placed his hands firmly on the table and stood up in one decisive motion, finalizing the plan.
"Understood!"
A unified response echoed through the room before everyone quickly dispersed.
...
"Learning the technique isn't enough."
"The method for controlling the resurrected can be discarded—what's important is ensuring they regain as much of their original strength as possible."
"As for sacrifices, you can use the White Zetsu I gave you."
"They contain Hashirama's cells, which may yield some unexpected results."
"I'm sure you've cloned quite a few by now, haven't you?"
As they left the meeting room, Kawakaze pulled Orochimaru aside.
He had no way to improve the Impure World Reincarnation technique himself, but he could still offer suggestions.
"You really know how to make things difficult for me," Orochimaru muttered.
"I'll do my best."
He nodded, fully understanding Kawakaze's intentions.
As for how Kawakaze knew so much about Impure World Reincarnation, Orochimaru simply assumed he'd seen records of it in the Forbidden Jutsu Chamber.
"As I said before—I trust you."
Kawakaze waved a hand and parted ways with Orochimaru and Jiraiya before heading toward the Memorial Stone with Tsunade.
Nawaki followed behind, looking slightly anxious.
"You're not mad that I made the decision without asking you first, are you?"
Kawakaze tightened his grip on Tsunade's hand, glancing at her face.
"Of course not."
"Grandfather and the others will understand."
Tsunade shook her head slightly, though guilt gnawed at her. The thought of digging up Hashirama's grave weighed on her.
She felt pathetic—after all these years, she still needed her grandfather's help.
"Don't worry. Grandpa will be happy to see you too."
"Nawaki, go find some tools. We'll meet at the grave."
Kawakaze reassured Tsunade before promptly sending his brother-in-law off to run an errand.
"Got it, brother-in-law!"
Nawaki obediently sprinted away.
When the three of them stood before Hashirama's grave, each holding a shovel, no one moved at first.
"You go first. Grandpa loved you the most," Kawakaze said, nudging Tsunade.
"Yeah, sis, you should do it."
"Didn't you always say Grandpa adored you?"
Nawaki, ever the master of selling out his sister, immediately chimed in.
"You two..."
Tsunade shot them both a glare but, in the end, she was the first to dig.
