Chapter 335: Chapter 335: Obito Ascends
"Sasuke, enough with all the talking!"
Naruto clutched his head, frustrated. Why make things so complicated? Just charge in already!
He shouted, "My dad’s here! Just do whatever he says!"
Minato was even more touched by that.
That’s definitely my son!
Sasuke, however, could only sigh helplessly.
Sure, that was Naruto’s father. And under normal circumstances, Sasuke would’ve trusted him completely.
But... were these normal circumstances?
Not even close.
He’d been brought back with the Edo Tensei!
That alone made Sasuke uneasy.
Wait—no!
He shook his head quickly and murmured to himself, "Why am I thinking like this? It was Funan-aniki who used the Edo Tensei. How could I doubt him?"
Something about all this felt off.
Naruto, too, was focused entirely on his dad—and the enemy before them.
Especially after pulling off a perfect combo attack with Minato.
Using the Flying Thunder God, Minato instantly teleported them both in front of the giant Buddha’s head.
And Naruto—channeling Wind Release—hurled a Rasenshuriken straight into its face.
The explosion of chakra was brutal.
"Nice! Let’s keep it up!"
Long-range teleportation paired with a high-level jutsu like that demanded a lot of chakra.
Fortunately, Minato was currently reanimated—his chakra was limitless.
After just a short pause, he was ready to attack again.
Strike after strike followed. Before long, the giant Buddha’s face was mangled, and its arms had been torn off in droves.
"Good! This is the way!"
Everyone was growing more and more excited.
After all that fighting, they were finally seeing results.
"Step aside!"
A cold, commanding voice echoed through the battlefield.
Tobirama had arrived.
With a sharp glint in his eyes, he used the Flying Thunder God to appear right in front of the giant Buddha.
"Water Release."
He exhaled a razor-thin stream of water—so fine it looked like a single hair.
It traced a delicate line across the Buddha’s head.
And in that moment—
[Crack!]
With a crisp snap, the Buddha’s head slid cleanly off its neck.
"We did it!"
A cheer erupted from the group.
"Hehehehe!"
From atop the massive statue, the masked man cackled like a madman.
"Do you guys even know what it feels like... to take a dump?"
[Crack!]
A brand-new head sprouted instantly from the Buddha’s neck.
In a flash, the entire statue was back to normal.
"Idiots!" the masked man howled with laughter, nearly rolling over on the Buddha’s shoulder. "This thing isn’t alive! It’s just one of my jutsu—get it? Hahahaha!"
"Oh, I get it."
Tobirama’s eyes narrowed, cold and focused. "Which is why I was aiming for you from the start."
"Water Release!"
He unleashed the jutsu again.
The masked man’s face twitched slightly. He began merging with the giant Buddha.
"Too late!"
[Shhk!]
Another hair-thin Water Release attack slashed toward him.
...
"AAARGH!!!"
Obito let out a blood-curdling scream.
He felt like his entire being was being ripped apart by an overwhelming force.
...Rin!
Is this it? Am I coming to see you?
If you knew everything I’ve done... would you hate me?
No.
Never.
Why should we only get to see each other after death?
Why couldn’t we meet again—while still alive?
The Eye of the Moon Plan...
The Infinite Tsukuyomi...
I will make it happen.
I have to see the real you again.
"I swear it!"
Obito roared, his voice trembling with fury.
Rin—wait for me!
[BOOM!!!]
In his seething rage, the chakra erupting from Obito began to transform.
Many had said the Uchiha were a clan of emotion.
Their feelings could affect their chakra... and through it, awaken even greater power.
The Sharingan was born from that very truth.
Of course, it wasn’t necessarily overwhelming hatred or unbearable pain.
An intense desire could trigger it just the same.
And at this moment—
Obito yearned.
Obito was furious.
Obito hated.
Obito was unwilling to accept defeat!
His emotions surged to their peak.
His own chakra began to shift—resonating with the Ten Tails’.
A black sphere enveloped him entirely.
The final transformation had begun.
"Did he succeed... or fail?"
Kakashi and the others widened their eyes in disbelief.
In the Pure Land, the Sage of Six Paths was slightly stunned.
Is that even possible?
He actually succeeded?
What is even this?
A Jinchūriki of Tailed Beast chakra?
At that moment, the Ten Tails was nothing more than an empty shell—constantly absorbing the chakra of the other Tailed Beasts.
The chakra of nearly every previous Jinchūriki had gathered in Obito’s body. As a result, this ’Ten Tails’ wasn’t the original, but in terms of chakra volume—it wasn’t far off.
And now, Obito had succeeded.
To the Sage of Six Paths, Obito had always been Uchiha Madara’s pawn—a clownish descendant of Indra.
Yet somehow... he had done it.
Indra... your descendants truly are extraordinary.
Uchiha Madara defied the limits imposed by the Sage and forcefully awakened the Rinnegan.
Uchiha Funan—an existence even the Sage couldn’t fully grasp.
And now, there was another name to add: Uchiha Obito.
Maybe... the Sage had been wrong all along.
If I had chosen the elder brother... maybe things wouldn’t have turned out like this.
Only the Sage himself knew that his choice back then had been tainted by personal bias.
He chose the younger brother under the guise of ’love’. But how long can love really endure?
It’s like a communal well—everyone works together to secure water, and at first, unity and appreciation blossom.
But with time?
Eventually, things revert to their original state.
Isn’t the history of the shinobi world proof of that?
Endless war, generation after generation.
Maybe...
Choosing the elder brother’s philosophy of power would have been better.
....
[Buzz...]
The black sphere slowly opened.
Revealing—
Six Paths Obito.
Clad in the Sage’s ceremonial robes.
Expression cold and godlike. A Rinnegan in his left eye, a Sharingan in his right.
Behind him hovered eight Truth-Seeking Orbs. On the back of his left hand—a ninth orb. In his right hand, the Six Paths Staff.
But the most terrifying part?
Obito was no longer standing on the ground.
He was floating—silent and still—suspended in midair.
Like a god.
"Th-this..."
Kakashi, Guy, Kakuzu, and Hidan couldn’t comprehend what they were seeing.
Did Obito succeed in becoming the Ten Tails’ Jinchūriki?
Or did he fail?
Judging by his appearance... and the calm, stable chakra radiating from him... this had to be success, right?
"Careful. I have a bad feeling about this... That guy might’ve actually succeeded."
Kakuzu’s voice was low and tense. The skin on his back bulged slightly.
[Bang!]
Five masked beasts burst forth, forming a protective circle around Kakuzu.
"Go!"
[Swish!]
The five masked beasts launched the first wave of attacks.
"Fire Release...!"
"Lightning Release...!"
[Boom! Boom!]
The Fire and Lightning masks attacked simultaneously.
Obito didn’t even flinch. His face remained blank—he didn’t even look.
[Whoosh!]
The Truth-Seeking Orbs shifted, forming a shield in front of him that blocked all the incoming attacks.
That easily?
Everyone watching, including Kakashi, tensed.
High-level ninjutsu... neutralized just like that?
It was far too effortless—
As casual as taking a sip of water.
[Whoosh!]
Obito moved in a blur, appearing in front of one of the masked beasts. He grabbed its face with one hand.
A circular void formed in his arm—
And a Truth-Seeking Orb began to morph, as if pulled by some invisible force, sharpening into a spear-like shape.
[Thud!]
With a muffled sound, the black spear shot out from Obito’s arm and impaled the masked beast.
A chill ran down everyone’s spine.
Again—
So effortless.
Obito tilted his head slightly, as if even he was surprised by the spear’s power.
Slowly, he turned to face the four-man squad—Kakashi and the others.
"Watch out!"
Kakuzu was the quickest to react, forming hand seals.
Another masked beast appeared.
"Water Release...!"
A torrent of water surged up in front of the group.
But Obito didn’t even acknowledge it.
This time, he didn’t even bother to defend.
He charged straight through.
[Boom!]
The sheer force of his impact sent them all flying.
[Whoosh!]
The fourth masked beast appeared.
"Wind Release...!"
And then, the final one—
"Earth Release...!"
[Thud!]
Obito glanced briefly at the two incoming attacks, then simply ignored them—
Letting them strike him head-on.
But they had no effect.
Even at the last moment, two high-level techniques—completely powerless.
"Ninjutsu doesn’t work?!"
Kakuzu stood up, shouting in disbelief.
"How is that even possible?!"
Obito looked at them again. Another tilt of the head.
Kakuzu froze, confused at first. Then his eyes widened in realization.
"I get it now!" he yelled. "This is the moment—Kakashi, now’s your chance! He still hasn’t fully adapted to his new power. This is the best time to strike!"
"Got it!"
[Zzzzzz!]
It sounded like a thousand birds chirping.
Lightning crackled from Kakashi’s hand as he dashed forward—
Straight at Obito.
Chidori!
[Smack!]
Obito caught the attack barehanded and spun with it.
[Bang!]
Kakashi was slammed into the ground.
Obito raised his arm again, pointing it down—
Preparing to strike.
"Hm?"
Suddenly, he paused—then blinked away in a flash.
Minato had arrived.
"Obito, what do you think you’re doing? That’s Kakashi you’re attacking!"
Minato’s voice was cold, commanding.
"Sensei."
Obito gave a faint smile. It was subtle. His eyes calm.
The kind of smile that looked like it was painted onto his face.
"Even now... what are you still hoping for?" he said softly.
"You think you’re still worthy of being Hokage?"
Minato’s breath caught in his throat.
"Sensei... what’s going on over there?"
Kakashi asked, his voice strained after being pulled from danger.
Minato could only give a bitter smile.
