Mystique Soul: A Cultivator's Flame -
Chapter 83
Chapter 83: Chapter 83
The wind stirred gently through the trees as Feng Jiao Xue and Mo Tianze walked in comfortable silence. The night was calm, the faint rustling of leaves above them blending with the distant chirping of nocturnal creatures. It was the kind of night where secrets felt safer to share, and for once, Feng Jiao Xue decided to do just that.
"Tianze," she called softly, glancing at the young demi-beast walking beside her. His golden eyes flickered toward her, shimmering in the moonlight.
"Hm?"
She hesitated for only a moment before unclasping her hand. A faint glow flickered at her fingertips, and a small, unassuming ring materialized between them. "There’s something I should show you."
She had been thinking about it for a while now.
At first, she had planned to leave Mo Tianze under her grandfather’s care when she leaves this place hoping that with their distance, he would not feel so attach to her and become more independent under a safe environment. Where he can grow into himself without her influence, without the slave mentality but it seems she has underestimated Mo Tianze.
To her, leaving those that will only be hurt in her journey seems logical, rational. As an assassin, she never let herself get attached because she knew the risk. That’s why leaving Yin Xiao behind had been her first decision and realizing it now, so was her first reaction to Mo Tianze because she thought that by doing so, she was doing what was best for them.
But... merging with ’Feng Jiao Xue’ the incarnation of her in this world gave her a different perspective.
Rationally, she would be doing what is best for them, putting them where they would be safer, away from danger.
This was what Lou Xi and her used to do to the things precious to them, hide them away from danger in their hidden home.
But,
Feng Jiao Xue glanced at Mo Tianze who was walking around in utter amazement over the smallest things, his silver hair and fur reflecting the moonlight beautifully, as if he himself was editing that soft glow, his smile wide and carefree as his eyes shines like the stars.
Mo Tianze... deserves more than to be hidden in this obscure land.
"Sister! Look" Mo Tianze took a moonlight orchid, a flower that only blooms at night with white petals and a soft icy blue glaze, from a tree branch and tucked it between her ear. "Sister, looks like a fairy" He grinned happily.
’No’ Feng Jiao Xue thought to herself. ’She selfishly want this bright light by her side’
"It’s beautiful" She carefully fixed the flower on the side of her head, perched on her ears. "But I also wanted to show you something"
Mo Tianze’s ears twitched at the sight of the ring. His tail swayed curiously when he noticed her gaze. "What is it?"
"A space ring," she said simply. "It’s not just for storage. There’s an entire world inside."
His golden eyes widened. "A world?"
She gave him a slight nod before reaching out and placing a hand on his shoulder. "I’ll take you inside."
The next moment, the world around them shifted. The crisp mountain air dissolved into something softer, warmer, infused with the scent of fresh earth and blooming flowers. When Mo Tianze opened his eyes, he gasped.
They stood amidst a sprawling spiritual herb garden, bathed in the soft glow of luminescent plants. The air was thick with a rich, revitalizing energy that clung to the skin like morning dew. Neatly arranged rows of rare and precious herbs stretched before them, their leaves whispering secrets only cultivators could understand.
"This is... inside the ring?" Mo Tianze breathed, his ears flicking up in awe.
Feng Jiao Xue gave a small nod. "Yes. This is where I cultivate spiritual herbs."
His fingers brushed over the petals of a deep blue flower, feeling the faint hum of energy beneath his fingertips. "Everything here feels... alive."
"It is" she replied. "This space has its own flow of energy, separate from the outside world. The qi here is denser, suitable for cultivation."
Mo Tianze turned in slow circles, his tail flicking with excitement. "Sister, this is incredible! How big is this place?"
She chuckled. "Come, I’ll show you more."
With a light step, she led him down a winding stone path, the scent of herbs trailing after them. The trees parted to reveal a breathtaking sight,a towering waterfall cascading down smooth rock, the sound of rushing water filling the air with a soothing melody.
"Careful" Mo Tianze supported her as they crossed the waterfal via stepping on wet rocks. Truthfully, Feng Jiao Xue can do it herself, she didn’t need his support but she still... want him to support her like this. It makes her heart feel... something.
"What do you think?" Feng Jiao Xue asked.
Mo Tianze’s breath hitched. "This place is beautiful."
The waterfall tumbled down into a small, clear pool below, the surface shimmering under the ethereal glow of floating fireflies. Mist rose where the water met stone, creating a dreamlike veil around the area.
Feng Jiao Xue sat on a large rock by the water’s edge, watching as Mo Tianze crouched to dip his fingers into the cool surface. Ripples danced outward from his touch, distorting the reflection of the starlit sky above.
"Can you swim?" she asked suddenly. Back in her world, for the lack of better terms, those below are ussually kept ignorant but in darker societies, where slavery are still deeply hidden from the eyes of the ’upright’ people, slaves are barely thought the basics only based on their uses to prevent them from harming their buyers or running away. She never really cared about it, she grew up knowing it’s existence so she never knew otherwise. But Mo Tianze, his different, this world... made her different. Everytime she looks at the slight discoloration around his neck, it makes her anger burn.
Mo Tianze glanced up, ears twitching. "Of course! I might be half-fox, but I’m not afraid of water." He answered proudly.
A mischievous glint flickered in her eyes as she swallowed down the uncomfortable thought "Prove it."
Before he could react, she flicked her wrist, sending a small splash of water toward him. Mo Tianze yelped, leaping back as droplets landed on his face. His golden eyes locked onto her with playful indignation.
"Sister!" he exclaimed.
She smirked, barely hiding her amusement. "What? I thought you weren’t afraid."
His tail fluffed up in protest before he grinned, sharp canines flashing. Without warning, he plunged his hand into the water and sent a wave right back at her.
The night filled with laughter as their playful splashes sent ripples across the otherwise serene pool. By the time they called a truce, Mo Tianze was panting slightly, his white hair damp and sticking to his forehead. His golden eyes shone with an unguarded happiness, the kind he rarely let himself feel.
Feng Jiao Xue watched him for a moment, something warm settling in her chest. He had come so far from the frightened boy she had first met. Seeing him like this, free, unburdened, it was worth everything.
"Come" she said, standing up and offering her hand. "There’s still more to see."
Mo Tianze took her hand without hesitation, his fingers cool against hers as she pulled him to his feet. Together, they followed the stone path up the hillside, where a simple yet elegant pavilion stood under the open sky.
"This is where I meditate," she explained as they stepped under the wooden beams. The open-air structure offered a perfect view of the waterfall and the sprawling landscape beyond.
Mo Tianze sat on the smooth wooden floor, tilting his head back to gaze at the stars overhead. "It’s peaceful here."
Feng Jiao Xue hummed in agreement. "It helps clear the mind."
A comfortable silence settled between them, broken only by the distant sound of water. Mo Tianze shifted slightly, his tail brushing against her arm.
"Sister," he said softly, almost hesitantly. "Thank you for bringing me here."
"No" Feng Jiao Xue smiled at him, like a blooming lutos in an icy baren lands blooming beautifully, serenely. "Mo Tianze, thank you, for staying with me"
She glanced at him, taking in the way his golden eyes reflected the gentle light around them. There was something tender in his expression, something quiet yet profound. She wasn’t sure if he understood it himself, but it was there, woven into the way he looked at her, the way he sought her warmth without realizing it.
She reached out, smoothing his damp hair back from his face. "You don’t have to thank me ever again."
Mo Tianze blinked at her touch, his ears flicking slightly. His tail curled beside him, a sign of quiet contentment.
For a moment, time stretched between them, the world narrowing to the soft rustling of leaves and the steady, rhythmic sound of the waterfall below. There was something unspoken in the air, a feeling neither of them could quite name.
Finally, Feng Jiao Xue stood. "It’s getting late. We should return. Or would you rather cultivate here?"
Mo Tianze nodded, though a small part of him wished they could stay just a little longer. As they prepared to leave, he cast one last glance at the sky, committing the moment to memory.
"Let’s stay here first" He replied.
Because deep down, he knew,
This night, this feeling, this warmth,
He never wanted it to fade.
