Mystic Overlord: Reading Gives Strength
Chapter 370 - 369: Examining the Body

Chapter 370: Chapter 369: Examining the Body

Beside Springs Train Station, a horse carriage was slowly coming to a stop.

As the carriage halted, a solemn young man stepped down from it. He was dressed in a white short-sleeved shirt and black pants, with a metallic breastpin on his chest catching everyone’s attention.

"Mr. Ronald, we’ve arrived," said the driver.

Ronald glanced at the driver who had spoken to him and nodded slightly.

"Mm, you can go back first. I’ll take care of things here, and there might be someone from the guild coming over later."

The driver respectfully replied,

"Understood, sir."

As soon as the words were spoken, the driver drove the carriage away.

Standing alone beside the train station and noticeably underdressed amongst the crowd, Ronald adjusted his collar and then, without concern, walked towards a grey building next to the station.

Leaving the guild in such a hurry, Ronald even had the extra mind to go back to the second floor and change into a coat.

Yet, even though the temperature could not affect Ronald, he still felt a chill in his heart.

He could use the power of the "Angel" to resist the invasion of invisible spells, but what about the others in the guild?

Once the spell’s target was not limited to a single person...

Then the result at the train station branch in front of him would probably be very shocking.

Thinking this, Ronald looked up at the grey building in front of him.

In a voice only he could hear, he chanted the spell of "Fury" to awaken the black fog of Hell, immediately sensing several disturbed emotional fluctuations within the building.

None carried the despair that comes with impending death.

"Sigh—"

"It seems that the situation is not as bad as I thought..."

Murmuring softly, Ronald walked into the building in front of him.

The guard recognized Ronald’s identity, so there was no obstruction, and he made his way directly to the third floor, the office management office.

The interior layout of the building was not much different from the typical office buildings of the era.

Constructed of brick and wood, occasional decorative patterns and symbols could also be seen on the walls.

Ronald walked straight into an office, where three uneasy men were sitting at the moment.

Startled by the sudden action of Ronald pushing the door open, one of them immediately showed an angry expression before opening his mouth and recognizing the visitor as Ronald.

"Uh... ah..."

"Mr. Ronald!"

"You’ve finally arrived!"

His tone shifted rapidly from worry and anger to excitement, almost jumping out of his chair, then reaching out to greet Ronald directly.

"We, we’ve experienced a very serious situation here."

"Mar has told you all about the message, right?"

"..."

Ronald shook hands with the man and spoke in a reassuring tone:

"Yes, Mr. Mar has told me everything."

"I’ve come here to handle any trouble this matter might cause."

"..."

"That’s good, that’s good."

Knowing Ronald was an original text holder, the manager’s expression visibly softened.

His glance shifted behind Ronald before belatedly continuing,

"But where is Mar?"

"Didn’t he come back with you after going to notify you of the message?"

"..."

Ronald responded to the man’s question with a silent and unmoving demeanor.

Then, the man’s expression slowly twisted, and he unconsciously stepped back a few paces.

"Mar... Mar is..."

Ronald spoke with a tinge of regret,

"I’m very sorry."

"He can’t come anymore."

"..."

Upon hearing from Ronald that Mar had been murdered, the man’s expression froze, his body started to tremble slightly, as if all his strength had been drained, causing him to collapse onto the chair behind him.

"This... How could this happen?"

"Mar just went to deliver a message, how could he die? How could he die?"

"...I’m truly sorry."

Ronald looked down at the man then began to explain with a subdued voice:

"Right in front of me, Mar was affected by that spell and then died from organ failure."

"However, the spread of that spell should have been cut off on my side."

"..."

Listening to Ronald’s simple yet brutal recounting, the man seated on the chair revealed a wretched smile, his mournful expression as if witnessing the apocalypse.

"..."

"........."

"Mr. Ronald, I’ll leave this matter in your hands..."

"Our side has also notified the investigation bureau; someone should come over later."

Looking at the man who handed over the responsibility completely, Ronald turned and walked towards the door:

"I will handle this matter."

As Ronald’s retreating figure left, the other person in the office spoke up:

"Mr. Ronald, the bodies of the other few are in the warehouse on the first floor; the records we prepared are also there."

"Please take care of it!"

"..."

Ronald shrugged to show he understood, and the next second, his figure disappeared at the doorway.

The consecutive deaths of three Casters, along with the direct murder of a colleague, had clearly terrified the guild’s staff.

For now, it seemed like the investigation had to rely solely on himself.

Following the directions given by the person in the office earlier, Ronald made his way alone to the first floor.

The already emotionally unstable guard looked terrified.

Seeing Ronald, the person in charge, arrive, he opened the warehouse door almost as if evading the plague, then immediately stepped aside.

"..."

Ronald made no comment on the situation.

He walked through the ironclad door and went straight towards the entrance of the warehouse. In the center, where miscellaneous items were piled, lay several bodies on tables, covered with white sheets.

"Hmm..."

Ronald frowned.

Perhaps the first person had died earlier, or maybe his sense of smell was very sharp right now.

He had just entered the room when he immediately smelled a faint odor of decay.

Without a word, he walked up to the table and pulled back the white sheet covering the bodies.

"Tsk——"

The three bodies were exactly as Ronald had been informed: one with a crushed skull, one with clear signs of a head injury, and the last one clutching his chest, mouth still open in pain, clearly having endured physical agony before death.

Instantly, Ronald extended his Magic Power in a way he understood to check each of the bodies.

All of them had clear traces of Magic Power having operated inside, normal traces that would be left when using spells.

But beyond that, there was no additional residue of Magic Power.

That life-threatening spell had definitely perfected the art of erasing traces!

Faced with such a situation, Ronald shifted his gaze to the notebook beside him.

"In that case..."

"Let’s take a look at the records first..."
