Chapter 274: Chapter 273: Library
"The location of the library?"
"I know it!"
Upon seeing Ronald initiate conversation, the person decisively responded:
"Follow this road straight to the end, turn left, and it won’t be far before you see a blue and white building—that’s where the library is."
Ronald nodded and thanked immediately:
"Thank you very much."
However, the expression of the female student changed as soon as she heard his response.
She had been too decisive in her answer, which seemed to preclude any further conversation with Ronald!
Her gaze shifted, and she quickly added:
"Actually, the paths in the school are quite complicated."
"If you don’t mind, I can show you the way."
Ronald smiled lightly:
"Thanks, but I think I’ll be fine finding the way."
"Your friend is still waiting, so I won’t keep you."
After a brief farewell, Ronald quickened his pace towards the direction of the library.
However, after walking some distance, he could still hear the group of female students behind him discussing.
"That guy is so handsome!"
"Is he a student at our university? It’s unlikely he wouldn’t know where the library is, right?"
"If I were you, I’d definitely chase after him relentlessly."
"I was afraid he’d dislike that kind of behavior!"
"Come on, it’s almost time for class."
"..."
With feelings of both delight and complexity, Ronald continued walking towards the deeper parts of the college, following the direction indicated in the conversation.
Soon, he found Wis University’s library.
It was an impressively majestic building.
The facade used a blend of white and blue, offering a look that was both noble and elegant. Towards the slightly forward position, there stood a statue of the principal who designed the library, with his accomplishments inscribed beneath.
—Ailodi Fuer Robin
This was a very prestigious scholar of a hundred years ago, who also personally founded Wis University.
At the library entrance, there were currently two men in blue uniforms and hats who were undoubtedly Wis University’s security guards.
Seeing this, Ronald didn’t think twice before circling to the other side of the library.
He casually found a window on the ground floor that was open.
With a single boost, he flipped inside.
Once inside, he saw that the library was divided into five floors in total.
On the first floor, many bookshelves were neatly arranged in a circle according to different categories, some entirely filled with books, while others housed various documents or volumes.
Apart from that, there were also tables with books on them.
One could sit comfortably on the chairs beside them to read.
Meanwhile, the library’s interior was luxurious and full of artistic atmosphere, with paintings, sculptures, ancient wood furnishings, and all sorts of items that appeared very expensive at first glance.
Of course, Ronald’s goal was not to admire the décor of the library.
But rather the hidden "Book Research Society."
It was still early, and there were hardly any people in the library.
Following the information he had received earlier, he went directly to an office on the second floor named "Kraken" and knocked on the door.
Knock, knock, knock—
"Is anyone there?"
Almost simultaneously with the knock, someone inside the office responded:
"Yes, come in."
Pushing open the door, Ronald immediately saw that there were three tables inside the office.
Behind one of the tables, there sat an old man with a white beard sipping tea, his complexion somewhat aged, but his eyes were bright and spirited. To his left, on the office desk, sat a young girl with a delicate air and a beautiful, oval-shaped face.
The desk to the right, by the window, was unoccupied.
After Ronald entered the room, the old man put on a teasing smile and began to speak:
"Excuse me, young man, who are you looking for?"
"Classes are still in session, you know."
Ronald responded with a smile, and then he answered:
"Hello, my name is Ronald Adler."
"As for whom I’m looking for, well, it’s rather complicated."
Hearing Ronald’s answer, the old man glanced back with a mocking look at the young girl still at work behind him, before he continued:
"So you’re Mr. Adler, if it’s about Mou Li..."
The old man had barely spoken when his face suddenly changed, then he cautiously inquired:
"Ronald... Ronald Adler?"
"Are you the scholar who possesses those books?"
Ronald nodded in reply:
"Yes, that’s me."
Immediately, there was a dramatic shift in the old man’s demeanor.
"It is you, please, come with me then!"
The old man hastily set down his teacup and stood up from his chair, while Ronald also nodded slightly in response.
"Indeed, lead the way."
Ronald offered a faint smile, then followed the old man out of the room.
Under the old man’s lead, they came to a very spacious room on the first floor that was simply furnished. The room was not small, but a large bookcase took up almost a third of the space, and next to it there was a book cabinet neatly filled with a large number of books.
Ronald glanced over and recognized the atlases and books on the shelves.
Then the old man ushered Ronald to take a seat, straightened his clothes, and asked with a level tone:
"Mr. Adler, I’m somewhat familiar with your situation."
"May I ask what brings you to our library today?"
Having come this far, Ronald obviously had no intention of hiding anything, so he confidently began to speak:
"The reason is simple."
"I have a profound interest in the past history of the mysterious side."
The old man’s eyes sparkled with a hint of surprise at Ronald’s words.
"Past history? Very interested?"
Ronald nodded slightly and continued:
"Yes, past history."
"In Springs, the best option for acquiring this knowledge is here, which is why I’ve come specifically to seek assistance."
The old man showed a satisfied expression, then inquired further:
"So, Mr. Adler."
"What exactly would you like to know? Be more specific, please."
Ronald replied straightforwardly:
"I’m looking for records about the history of the mysterious side, the earlier the better."
"I am very concerned about the events of the past, and it’s related to a dangerous organization I’m seeking to find. That’s the reason."
The old man raised his eyebrows slightly.
With Ronald seeking help, he was so straightforward about his goal; wasn’t he worried about being heavily charged?
Perhaps this was the confidence of an original tome holder?
Thinking this, the old man still replied according to the rules of the "Scholarly Scroll Society":
"You are correct, our archives do indeed contain records of that nature, but I am just a regular administrator, so I don’t have extensive knowledge about these matters."
"However, if you need to look up specific books, some necessary payment is required."
