Chapter 444: As long as they won, it was worth it
Demonic Heartshard of Wrath!
A Level 7 Special Resource.
Back when the Creator, the Order Dragon Asha, forged the world of Glory Lords X, there were other gods—beings of immense power, rivaling even the Six Dragon Gods. But unlike Asha, no one could control them. Chaos erupted. A divine war broke out, and countless gods fell in the carnage. Their divine blood, over countless ages, crystallized into what now exists as this—
the Demonic Heartshard of Wrath.
This shard contains an ancient, overwhelming force of pure rage. Whoever taps into it gains a berserker power so intense, it rivals that of an Eternal Deity or even a Demon God.
"Power on par with an Eternal Deity’s berserk mode? Damn... no wonder it’s a Level 7 Special Resource. That’s insane," Ethan muttered, eyes gleaming. "Still... this might be exactly what Seraphina needs to take on the Divine Colosseum trial."
With this, Seraphina finally had everything she needed to enter the Divine Colosseum. In fact, she was probably overqualified now.
After all, this wasn’t just any resource—this was Level 7.
That had to mean the effects would be even stronger, right?
Well, they’d find out soon enough.
Next, Ethan turned his attention to the three Level 4 Strategic Artifacts he’d just pulled.
Cloak of Verdant Prosperity – Level 4 Strategic Artifact
A territory-wide economic powerhouse.
+100% production of all six basic resources
+50% production of all Level 1–4 Special Resources
Crown of the Celestial Beast – Level 4 Strategic Artifact
One of the racial relics of the Tier 12 War Unicorns.
For regular heroes:
+50 to all stats
+10% damage
Passive Holy Light effect
For Unicorn-type Hero Units:
+100 to all stats
+20% damage
+50% Holy Light damage
Unlocks innate skill: Domain of Light
For all Unicorn-type units:
-20% recruitment cost
-10% recruitment time
Increased chance to recruit Ace Unit Unicorns
+10% HP for all standard Unicorn troops
Arcane Scrying Scope – Level 4 Strategic Artifact
A telescope infused with powerful arcane laws.
Can scan everything within a 100 million x 100 million feet radius
Immune to all magical interference below Tier 5 Magic
Note: When used to observe Tier 13 Legendary Units or Tier 14 Mythic Units of the Arcane Being type, there’s a chance of being detected.
When used on Tier 14 Mythic Hero Units, detection is guaranteed.
"Three more absolute bangers," Ethan couldn’t help but grin.
The Cloak of Verdant Prosperity and the Crown of the Celestial Beast? No-brainers.
One was a top-tier economic artifact—perfect for boosting his resource game.
The other? A racial artifact for the Unicorn line. That thing alone could skyrocket the value of any Unicorn-based army. The stat boosts, the cost reductions, the Ace Unit recruitment bonus—it was a dream come true for any Unicorn commander.
And then there was the Arcane Scrying Scope.
A strategic artifact, no doubt about it. And in wartime?
This thing was terrifying.
A full visual sweep of a hundred million feet in every direction—basically a god-tier radar. No enemy could sneak up on him. The moment they crossed into his range, he’d know. He’d see everything.
Especially in large-scale wars?
This wasn’t just useful.
It was a game-changer.
"And then there’s the Hero Tier Upgrade Scroll for Crimson Ultimate Heroes, the S-tier Power Fragment of Order Dragon Asha, and those ten Awakening Stones of Arcane Genesis..." Ethan murmured, eyes scanning over the final few rewards.
Hero Tier Upgrade Scroll (Crimson Ultimate Hero)
A rare scroll that can increase the sub-tier of a Crimson Ultimate Hero.
Fully effective on D-rank Crimson Ultimate Heroes.
Halved effect on C-rank Crimson Ultimate Heroes.
Completely ineffective on B-rank and above Crimson Ultimate Heroes.
So yeah, it was powerful—but only if used wisely.
Power Fragment of Order Dragon Asha (S-tier)
A fragment of divine power from the greatest of all creators—Order Dragon Asha.
This wasn’t just some random relic. This was a piece of the very laws that governed the world of Glory Lords X. A shard of the core essence that shaped reality itself.
Anyone who absorbed it would gain a deeper, more profound understanding of the world’s fundamental laws—potentially unlocking godlike power.
In fact, it could even elevate someone to the rank of a Crimson Ultimate Hero.
Note: This fragment has no effect on Crimson Ultimate Heroes who are already S-tier or higher.
Compatible with all magic types.
Quantity: 1
Awakening Stone of Arcane Genesis (Orange-grade)
A divine gemstone infused with powerful arcane law magic.
Can boost the evolution progress of Tier 1–12 Ace Units by 30% to 50%, adapting to their current state.
Can also be used on any standard Tier 1–12 unit, giving them a 90% chance to evolve into an Ace Unit.
Quantity: 10
"These three items... they’re honestly kind of terrifying," Ethan muttered under his breath, eyes still fixed on the glowing interface in front of him.
But out of all of them, the one that really caught his attention—the one he valued the most—was without a doubt the S-tier Power Fragment of Order Dragon Asha.
This... this could be the key to pushing Cicero into the next realm—elevating him into a Tier 14 Mythic Unit Crimson Ultimate Hero.
After all, the fragment was only ineffective on S-tier Crimson Ultimate Heroes. Which meant it did work on A-tier ones.
And A-tier Crimson Ultimate Heroes? That was the realm of the true monsters—those born from Tier 14 Mythic Units.
This thing was priceless.
Absolutely priceless.
Then there was the final First Kill reward:
"All Hero Units under your command: +3 levels."
Just from the last battle alone, Seraphina, Cicero, and Kyros had already leveled up to 65, 64, and 60 respectively.
Now? With the bonus?
They were sitting at 68, 67, and 63.
Even Ethan himself had hit Level 66.
That was a massive power spike across the board.
But just as Ethan was still riding the high of all these gains, a voice cut through his thoughts—Auremax, his loyal Gold Dragon commander.
"Master, the war may be over... but we’ve suffered heavy losses. After tallying the numbers, we’ve confirmed that we lost 103 Gold Dragons in the battle. That’s more than half of our entire Gold Dragon force."
Ethan’s smile faded.
More than half... gone.
That wasn’t just a number. That was a real, tangible loss. A gut punch.
He fell silent for a moment, then let out a long sigh, shaking his head. "I’m sorry... I underestimated Sea King Maelthorak."
But Auremax shook his head, his golden eyes calm and resolute. "No, Master. To give their lives for Emerald Castle—it was an honor. And in the end, we won, didn’t we?"
To him, death was painful, yes—but not unfamiliar.
This was war. A brutal, unforgiving war.
And in war, someone always dies. That’s just how it is.
As long as they won, it was worth it.
"Lord of Emerald Castle," a voice called out from above.
Archangel Alvariel descended slowly, his radiant wings dimmed and tattered, his armor stained with blood. He looked like he’d been through hell—and he had.
Behind him, the once-mighty Archangel legion had been reduced to less than half its original strength.
Nearly 200 Archangels had fallen in the battle.
But for them, it wasn’t the end.
They didn’t fear death. Their faith was unshakable. And more importantly...
They could be revived.
The Castle faction had Archangel Creature Dwellings.
As long as those existed, resurrection was just a matter of time.
"Is there anything else you need us to do?" Alvariel asked, his voice steady despite the blood dripping from his wings.
Ethan shook his head. "No. Alvariel... thank you. Truly. You and your warriors fought with everything you had. We couldn’t have done this without you."
And that was the truth.
If it hadn’t been for Alvariel and the Archangels—especially their innate resurrection abilities—his Gold Dragons and Sacred Kirin might’ve been completely wiped out.
Hell, they’d gone up against an entire Kirin army—nearly 3,000 units of Tier 13 Legendary Kirin and Tier 14 Mythic Sacred Kirin.
They were outnumbered.
Outmatched.
And yet... they’d won.
They’d crushed the enemy.
It was a miracle.
A hard-earned, blood-soaked miracle.
And when it came to the regular troops, the MVPs of this battle?
No question—it was him and the Archangels.
