Chapter 442: This is insane... There’s this much?!
Ethan couldn’t believe it—he’d even busted out his ultimate move, the Diamond Starcrush Strike...
And he still didn’t win?
No doubt about it now—Maelthorak was insanely overpowered. Honestly, it was a damn good thing the guy was still in his weakened state. If he were at full strength, Ethan figured even ten of him wouldn’t be enough to take this monster down.
Still... that punch wasn’t totally useless. Maelthorak’s Primordial Force integrity had dropped again—from 91% to 92% damaged. That might not sound like much, but in a fight like this, every percent counted. It was progress.
"I’m fine, don’t worry about me," Ethan said, shaking off the pain. He looked around at his team—Seraphina, Kyros, Cicero, Auremax—and his voice dropped into a steady, commanding tone. "We’re almost there. Victory’s right in front of us. Let’s finish this—together!"
"Yes, sir!"
"I fight for you, my master!"
"Let’s go!"
One by one, they charged forward, a blur of wings, claws, and elemental fury. Maelthorak, for his part, fought like a cornered beast—burning through the last of his strength in a final, desperate blaze of power and pride.
The battle raged on for another hour, maybe two. Time blurred in the chaos.
And then—finally—Maelthorak faltered.
Kyros and Cicero struck in perfect sync, slamming him down into the ocean with a thunderous crash. The sea swallowed him whole.
He didn’t rise again.
And just as the silence settled over the battlefield, Ethan heard it—the sweet, satisfying chime of the system notifications he’d been waiting for.
Ding!
"Congratulations! Hero Unit under player Valkarion—Green Dragon Seraphina—has reached Level 65!"
Ding!
"Congratulations! Hero Unit under player Valkarion—Green Dragon Cicero—has reached Level 64!"
Ding!
"Congratulations! Hero Unit under player Valkarion—Kirin Kyros—has reached Level 60!"
Ding!
"Congratulations! Gold Dragon Auremax under player Valkarion—evolution progress has increased to 84%!"
Ding!
"Congratulations! Player Valkarion has leveled up! You are now Level 63!"
...
After Maelthorak finally fell, the flood of experience points that rained down on Seraphina, Cicero, and the others lit up the battlefield like fireworks. Each of them leveled up in different ways, the gains massive across the board.
Seraphina jumped three levels—from 62 to 65.
Cicero shot up four levels—from 60 to 64.
Kyros? He gained five whole levels, going from 55 to 60 in one go.
And that wasn’t even counting Ethan and Auremax.
Ethan himself leveled up from 60 to 63.
Auremax’s evolution progress? It skyrocketed from just over 70% to a whopping 84%.
This was a total jackpot. An absolute win across the board.
And the best part?
This was just the beginning.
Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding...
The first wave of rewards had barely finished rolling in when the real show began. One after another, system notifications started popping off like an alarm clock on steroids, flooding Ethan’s ears with a relentless stream of chimes.
It went on for a solid minute before finally slowing down.
Ding!
"Congratulations, player ’Valkarion’! You are the first Lord in the world of Glory Lords X to defeat a King-tier faction-level enemy! You have earned the following rewards:"

"Would you like to select your reward options now?"
...
Ethan stared at the reward list, frozen in place for a few seconds.
Then he nearly jumped out of his skin.
His heart was pounding, and the words just flew out of his mouth:
"Holy shit!"
To be honest, Ethan had thought he was fully prepared—mentally and emotionally—for the first-kill rewards from Sea King Maelthorak. He’d hyped himself up, run through the possibilities, convinced himself he wouldn’t be surprised no matter what dropped.
And yet...
Even with all that prep, the actual rewards still hit him like a truck.
"This is insane... There’s this much?!" Ethan winced, grinning so hard it almost hurt. Then the shock gave way to pure, unfiltered joy. His face lit up like a kid on Christmas morning as he muttered, practically trembling with excitement.
Thirty billion gold.
Three million of each of the six core resources.
Even if he ignored everything else for a second—just those two alone were enough to make his head spin. If he combined that with everything Emerald Castle had been stockpiling recently... it might actually be enough to send Seraphina to the Divine Colosseum for a full power breakthrough.
And the crazy part?
That was just the tip of the iceberg.
Five hundred Tier-14 Mythic Units—select or random.
Two thousand Tier-13 Legendary Units—also select or random.
Do you even realize what that means?
Right now, Emerald Castle’s entire stock of Tier-14 Mythic Units included:
50 Sacred Kirins
30 Ancient Behemoths
180 Gold Dragons
95 Storm Dragons
Total: 355 units.
As for Tier-13 Legendary Units, they had:
Around 400 Green Dragons
100 Behemoths
100 Gem Dragons
100 Ancient War Trees
120 Kirins
120 Arcane Colossi
Total: roughly 950 units.
So just from this one first-kill reward alone, Ethan was getting more high-tier troops than his entire current elite army combined.
Let that sink in.
This reward was about to more than double Emerald Castle’s top-tier military strength.
Once everything was added up, they’d be sitting on nearly 900 Mythic Units and close to 3,000 Legendary Units.
If that’s not overpowered, what is?
It was ridiculous. Absolutely bonkers.
And that wasn’t even the end of it.
Because the next reward on the list? That one was even more insane.
A Tier-14 Mythic Unit Creature Dwelling—select or random!
"A Tier-14 Mythic Dwelling... Damn, I’ve been chasing this forever, and now it just drops into my lap?" Ethan’s heart was pounding, his emotions all over the place. He could barely contain the excitement bubbling up inside him.
In his mind, there were two reasons why the major faction powers held such an iron grip over the world of Glory Lords X—why they stood so high above everyone else, untouchable and dominant.
First: Crimson Ultimate Heroes born from Tier-14 Mythic Units.
Second: Creature Dwellings that produced Tier-14 Mythic Units.
In other words, if you wanted to break through the tier monopoly those factions had built—if you wanted to carve a path straight to the top of the Glory Lords X food chain, maybe even become a faction power yourself—then you needed both.
No exceptions.
You needed a Crimson Ultimate Hero with Tier-14 Mythic origins.
And you needed a Tier-14 Mythic Creature Dwelling to sustain and grow that power.
Now, finally, Ethan had one of them in his hands—the dwelling.
And the other? He was this close.
Cicero was just one step away from evolving again. One more breakthrough, and he’d shatter his racial limits and ascend to become a true Tier-14 Mythic Unit.
When that happened, Emerald Castle would no longer just be a rising power—it would have the core foundation to become a full-fledged faction force. The kind that could stand shoulder to shoulder with the giants of the game.
Ethan knew it in his gut—this was the real prize.
This dwelling wasn’t just some flashy bonus. Its value easily eclipsed the 2,000 Legendary Units and even the 500 Mythic Units he’d just scored.
Hell, it might be the single most valuable reward out of everything he’d just earned from the first kill.
And that was saying something.
"But still..."
