Chapter 423: Cyclops King
"So that’s how it is." Ethan nodded, his eyes lighting up. "Actually, that’s good news for us. If the Fortress faction can keep those high-ranking Tidesworn elites busy... they’ll probably be too distracted to bother with us."
"Master, you said Maelthorak wants to come after me... is that true?!" Kyros suddenly cut in, his voice tight with disbelief.
Ethan paused for a moment, then nodded. "That’s what the Jewel King Astharel reported... and from the looks of it, it’s pretty much confirmed."
"We’re both Kirin heroes, and he still wants to take me out? That’s insane! He’s completely lost it. Someone that cruel deserves to be judged." A cold gleam flashed in Kyros’s eyes as he spoke, his voice low and sharp.
"Don’t worry. He will be," Ethan said with a nod. "It won’t be long now."
"Master, what’s our next move? Should we just storm in and take him out?" Seraphina asked, clearly itching for action.
"No..." Ethan shook his head, then turned to Elyra, Kyros, and Seran. "Where’s Archangel Alvariel from the Castle faction right now?"
"They’re in the city," Kyros replied. "Do you want me to bring them to you?"
"Yeah..." Ethan nodded. "Go get them. It’s time we got moving."
"Yes, Master!"
...
Whooosh...
Out on the open sea, a massive warship cut through the waves, its sails billowing in the wind. It was a Tier-3 battleship—one of the spoils they’d claimed not long ago from the fallen Crimsonstar Kingdom.
"Lord Valkarion, I’ve arrived."
A soft, radiant light shimmered in the air as Archangel Alvariel appeared behind Ethan, his expression calm and composed. "Apologies for keeping you waiting..."
Ethan shook his head, then turned to face him with a smile. "Remember when Cain asked me why I wanted to borrow his troops? I didn’t tell him then. But now, I think it’s time. Alvariel, want to hear it?"
Alvariel blinked, then gave a faint nod. "If you’re ready to share, I’m ready to listen."
"Yeah?" Ethan chuckled, then turned back toward the sea, his voice steady. "Alvariel, our target this time... is Sea King Maelthorak."
"W-What?!" Alvariel froze, his expression shifting instantly to one of alarm. He stared hard at Ethan, his voice low and tense. "Lord Valkarion... are you serious?"
As one of the Castle faction’s Mythic Ace Units—and a Tier-14 Archangel at that—Alvariel knew exactly who Maelthorak was. One of the top ten Sea Kings of the Tidesworn faction, a powerhouse whose strength far surpassed that of most ordinary Kings.
"You think I’m joking?" Ethan asked with a calm smile.
Alvariel didn’t answer right away. His gaze flicked over to Seraphina, Cicero, and then to Kyros, who stood silently amid the waves. Finally, he turned back to Ethan, his eyes narrowing.
"Lord Valkarion, I mean no disrespect, but I have to be blunt," he said. "Even with your three Crimson Ultimate heroes... even with our help... we’ll lose. Maelthorak isn’t just any Sea King—he’s one of the Tidesworn’s top ten. He’s even stronger than Lord Mikael."
"But he’s already badly wounded, isn’t he?" Ethan replied, his tone even. "And I don’t have a choice. He’s targeting Kyros—my man. So it’s either him... or us."
Alvariel opened his mouth to respond... but in the end, he said nothing.
He just stood there, silent.
...
"Alvariel, I need you to follow Cain’s orders," Ethan said again, locking eyes with him. "Now that you’re here, I expect your full cooperation—no matter what happens. I need your support."
"Ah..." Alvariel let out a long sigh, the kind that sounded like someone who’d just realized they were stuck on a ship they never meant to board.
But after a moment, he nodded.
"You have my word," he said solemnly. "The Angelic race is brave, loyal, and just—we don’t break our promises. But if the battle turns hopeless, if there’s truly no chance of victory... I will pull my forces out. I hope you can understand that."
"Thank you," Ethan nodded slightly.
That was all he needed.
The reason he’d had this conversation with Alvariel was simple—he was laying the groundwork. Setting expectations. His target was Sea King Maelthorak, and once things kicked off, anything could happen. He needed Alvariel to be ready for that.
And the only thing he needed from Alvariel and his Archangel forces... was full cooperation.
That’s it.
Nothing more.
But if even that was too much to ask...
Then Ethan would have no problem telling him to walk away.
Because, truthfully, this part of the plan—this moment—was a critical piece of the whole operation. If Alvariel wasn’t on board, Ethan would rather scrap the entire thing than force it through recklessly.
Luckily, it didn’t come to that.
Alvariel had agreed—more or less.
"Well then, I’ll take my leave," Alvariel said with a nod, turning to go.
He disappeared into the ship’s cabin, heading for the rest quarters.
"Master, where to next?" Kyros’s voice rose from the sea below, his form gliding effortlessly through the waves as he looked up at Ethan.
"Let’s head to the Blazeblade Kingdom first," Ethan said, eyes narrowing slightly.
"Blazeblade Kingdom?" Kyros blinked, then seemed to catch on. He nodded slowly. "I see... You’re hoping to bring them over to our side?"
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend," Ethan said with a faint smile. "And having more cards to play never hurts."
"Understood, Master! Then let’s set course for the Blazeblade Kingdom!"
...
A few days later—
In the waters just beyond the borders of the Blazeblade Kingdom, one of the Five Sea Kingdoms...
Uninvited guests had arrived.
"General, wh-what should we do now?"
"Their warships have already crossed into Blazeblade territory, but... they’ve got Kirin among them, and dragons—and even Angels! What are we supposed to do? Do we attack?!"
On the deck of a massive Tier-3 arcane warship, a Sea Warden clad in full armor stood stiffly, his face tight with anxiety. His voice trembled slightly as he looked toward the towering figure standing just a few paces ahead of him.
That figure was a giant—literally.
Clad in radiant golden armor, the colossal being stood nearly a hundred feet tall. His massive hands shimmered with golden light, each one like a giant fan of pure power, pulsing with raw, earth-shaking Earth Magic. Just one glance at him was enough to send a chill down anyone’s spine.
And the moment anyone laid eyes on the single crimson eye burning in the center of his forehead...
They knew exactly what he was.
A Cyclops.
No—more than that.
This was a Cyclops King, a Tier-12 Royal Unit from the Stronghold faction.
And not just any Cyclops King.
This one was a Hero Unit.
A Tier-12 Cyclops King Hero—an absolute monster of a warrior, the kind of force that could turn the tide of a battle all on his own.
And now, he stood silently on the deck, staring out at the approaching fleet with that single, unblinking eye.
