Chapter 359: Who do you think we should send?
"Master, please go ahead and ask," Elynn said quickly.
Ethan glanced down at the Emerald Castle’s unit report in his hand, then asked, "Why are there only five Kirin Sea Temples listed under the Kirin Creature Dwellings? I could’ve sworn Stellamaris Kingdom had one, Crimsonstar had three, and Gemspire had two, right?!"
"Master, you’re right that Gemspire Kingdom does have two Kirin Sea Temples," Elynn replied, shaking her head slightly. "But they only have ownership over one of them. The other one actually belongs to the Greenwave Empire."
"Is that so?" Ethan blinked, his eyes narrowing slightly in thought. Then he reached out and tapped a line on the report under "Standard Units," pointing as he continued, "What about these regular units, then?"
"I know our Tier 14 Mythic Units can’t be revived once they’re killed, since we don’t have the corresponding Creature Dwellings for them. But the Tier 13 Legendary Units—those should be revivable, right?"
"I remember before the war started, we had 150 Green Dragons, 60 Gem Dragons, 20 Behemoths, 70 Kirins, and 5 Ancient War Trees. But now we’re down to way fewer than that... What happened? Are there limits on reviving them? Or are we just out of revival resources?"
As he finished speaking, Ethan turned to look at Elynn.
"Master, we still have the resources," Elynn said softly, "but we’ve run out of revival attempts..."
"Revival attempts?" Ethan blinked, clearly confused.
"Yes, Master. Let’s take the Green Dragon’s dwelling—the Dragon Cliff—as an example. Each natural cycle, meaning each calendar month, a Dragon Cliff can recruit one Green Dragon and has five revival attempts," Elynn explained, pausing briefly before continuing.
"So in one natural cycle, before the recruitment refresh day, a single Dragon Cliff can only recruit one Green Dragon and revive five Green Dragons."
"And since we currently have five Dragon Cliffs, that gives us 25 revival attempts per cycle."
"Also, while recruitment slots can stack up over time if unused, revival attempts don’t. They reset completely at the start of each new cycle."
"I see..." Ethan nodded slowly, the realization dawning on him.
He vaguely remembered that reviving fallen units depended on the revival limits of their respective Creature Dwellings, but since most of the casualties before had been mid- to low-tier units below Tier 13, he hadn’t paid much attention to it.
So it had slipped his mind—until now.
Thinking back, after the battle with the Dungeon army, they were left with only 64 Green Dragons. Now, with 25 more revived, that brought the total to 89. That checked out. As for the other Legendary Units... the same logic probably applied.
Still...
"If we’re going by revival attempts," Ethan asked, frowning slightly, "how long would it take to bring back all the fallen Legendary Units? Three full natural months?!"
The biggest loss from the war, without a doubt, had been the Green Dragon army.
At its peak, they had 150 units. Now? Just 64. That meant 86 had been killed in action. Even after reviving 25 of them, there was still a gap of 61 units.
25 + 25 + 11...
So yeah, it’d take at least three natural months to fully bring them all back. Sure, compared to the post-war gains, those losses were totally acceptable—but still, looking at the numbers now, Ethan couldn’t help but feel a little conflicted.
Winning was great and all...
But if he could’ve pulled it off without losing a single unit?
Now that would’ve been chef’s kiss.
"Technically, yes," Elynn nodded, then shook her head with a small smile. "But it doesn’t actually take three full natural months. Just three natural cycles."
Ethan blinked. "Wait—what’s the difference?"
"Master, did you forget about the Green Dragon artifact that Prince Cicero has—Green Dragon’s Might?" Elynn reminded him gently.
"Green Dragon’s Might?" Ethan paused, then quickly pulled up the artifact’s stats to check for himself.
Green Dragon’s Might
Set Incomplete (4/5)
Reduces recruitment cost for Tier 13 Green Dragons by 35%
Shortens recruitment cycle duration by 35%
Higher chance to recruit Ace-tier Green Dragons
All units under this lord’s command: +7% HP, +10% magic resistance
All Green Dragon units: +12% HP, +12% damage, +30% magic resistance
All bonuses stack
"Recruitment cycle shortened by 35%... Oh, right! I totally forgot about this thing!" Ethan’s eyes lit up, a grin spreading across his face.
In Glory Lords X, a natural month was always 35 days. But with that 35% reduction in recruitment cycle time?
That brought it down to just under 23 days per cycle.
So three cycles would only take 69 days—just a little over two months!
Still a wait, sure, but way better than three full months. Much faster.
"Master, there’s one more thing I’d like to report," Elynn said suddenly.
"What is it?"
"We’ve got some unclaimed recruitment slots stored up in the Dragon Cliffs, the Sacred Tree for the Ancient War Trees, and the Behemoth Lair. Would you like me to go ahead and recruit them all now?" she asked.
"Oh? How many are we talking about?" Ethan’s eyes lit up again. Now that was good news.
"There are 10 Green Dragons available from the Dragon Cliffs, 6 Behemoths from the Lair, and 7 Ancient War Trees from the Sacred Tree."
"That many? Recruit them all, right away!" Ethan said, surprised and clearly pleased.
Nearly thirty Tier 13 Legendary Units, just waiting to be added to the ranks?
Yeah, that was no small boost.
"Yes, Master!" Elynn nodded firmly.
Then, as if she couldn’t hold back her curiosity any longer, she tilted her head slightly and asked, "Master, what’s your next move? We’ve already taken full control of Sylvanwood... which means, if we want to keep expanding, we’ll have to start pushing outward—start dealing with the Eight Grand Duchies."
Ethan raised an eyebrow. Since she brought it up, he figured he might as well ask, "And what about you? Got any thoughts?"
"I..." Elynn paused, thinking for a moment before answering slowly, "Master, the seas are in total chaos right now. The Tidesworn faction’s been defeated, and the Inferno Devils are running wild—slaughtering everything in their path. It’s an extremely dangerous time. I think... it’d be smarter to steer clear of that mess for now."
She paused again, then added, "As for the coastal regions near Stellamaris Kingdom and Crimsonstar Kingdom, I think we should pull back a bit—tighten our defenses and just watch how things unfold."
"The Tidesworn may have lost, but that’s all it is—a loss."
"These faction wars have gone back and forth for ages. Winning or losing doesn’t mean much in the long run. And those Inferno Devils—greedy, cunning, and disgusting as they are—even if they’re on a rampage, it’s not easy for them to cross the vast ocean and reach us."
"Besides, the coastal zones are a gray area. It’s not just Tidesworn out there. Fortress forces are active too, and even Castle faction units are in the mix."
"As long as we don’t throw ourselves into that whirlpool, don’t go looking for trouble... we should be fine."
"And even if something does happen, I doubt it’ll be the full Inferno Devil army. Probably just a splinter force. And with Emerald Castle’s current strength? We’ve got nothing to fear. Worst case, we fight them head-on!"
Elynn’s voice rang out with conviction—strong, fearless, and laced with a sharp edge of battle-hardened resolve.
Ethan nodded, clearly impressed. "Makes sense," he said thoughtfully.
He had been considering launching a campaign into the Five Sea Kingdoms, using the chaos as a springboard to carve off a chunk of territory from the Greenwave Empire. But with the current state of the seas? That plan was looking more and more like suicide.
The Tidesworn had fallen.
The Inferno Devils were on a rampage.
And now, rumors were swirling that the Fortress faction had jumped into the fray too—stirring the pot, muddying the waters, and playing the role of chaos agent. The seas had become a meat grinder, a death trap for anyone without faction-level power.
Unless you were a top-tier force yourself, stepping into that mess was a one-way ticket to hell.
Even a Crimson Ultimate Hero would get crushed.
"Still," Ethan said, shifting gears, "even if we’re not pushing into the sea right now, we still need someone to hold the line near Crimsonstar and Stellamaris. Who do you think we should send? Kyros? Maybe Oakenmaw? Zyraxis? Seran?"
