Chapter 352: Talk about a lucky break

"So my Diplomacy skill’s already at an advanced level, huh..." Ethan muttered to himself.

To be honest, at first he thought the reason he’d been able to recruit so many powerful Hero Units, top-tier Ace Units, and a whole range of regular troops so smoothly was because of his good looks and magnetic personality...

Ahem—plus the overwhelming strength of his Crimson Ultimate heroes like Seraphina, Cicero, and Kyros backing him up!

But only recently did it really hit him—aside from all those factors, his hero skill Diplomacy, which was basically a god-tier ability, had definitely played a huge role in all of this.

"Master, what’s our next move? I feel like I’m strong enough now to steamroll all of Sylvanwood. Why don’t you let me lead the Green Dragon legion and conquer the whole region for you?" Seraphina suddenly leaned in, eyes gleaming with excitement.

She’d always had a love for battle, and now that the pressure was off and she was practically invincible, the shift in power made her itch to charge into Sylvanwood and claim it all in one sweep.

"Let’s not rush it just yet. And don’t forget about the one in the heart of Sylvanwood," Ethan said, shaking his head.

His eyes flickered with thought.

Logically speaking, the Kingdom of the Elementals had already fallen, the Night Elf King Vaelion had fled, and the northern archmage Eldrin had pledged allegiance to him. That should’ve meant the "Conquer Sylvanwood" storyline quest was complete, right?

But the system hadn’t given him any completion notice...

There was probably only one reason for that.

He hadn’t fully taken control of Sylvanwood yet. And the one variable left—the only real obstacle—was likely Thandor, the powerful Green Dragon who ruled the forbidden central zone of Sylvanwood.

And honestly?

Even though Thandor didn’t seem openly hostile to Emerald Castle right now, as long as he remained in Sylvanwood, Ethan could never truly claim the region as his own.

In other words, their upcoming journey into the heart of Sylvanwood...

Was probably going to be seriously dangerous.

"My Lord!" Just then, Auremax appeared before Ethan, bowing respectfully. "About the task you gave me a few days ago—I’ve made some progress."

"Really?" Ethan blinked, then lit up. "Let’s hear it!"

"I’ve narrowed it down to three options. Honestly, I’m not sure which one’s best."

"First, there’s Arcane Mithril. Among Level 4 Special Resources, Arcane Mithril is widely considered the most valuable and stable. It might not give us the biggest profit, but it’s a solid, safe bet."

"Second, we have Storm Magnetite."

"Storm Magnetite contains powerful storm-charged magnetic energy. It has two main uses: first, it can be used to craft Arcane Weaponry—some say even up to Tier 5. Second, the storm energy itself is incredibly beneficial to both my Gold Dragon kin and the Green Dragon race. Its effects might even surpass those of Dragonblood Crystal."

"Given that both Seraphina and Cicero are Green Dragons, and that our main forces at Emerald Castle are currently Green Dragon-based, I personally lean toward choosing Storm Magnetite."

"The third option is a resource called Dragonblood Emerald. It’s a variant of Dragonblood Crystal, but several times more potent. However, it only benefits a very limited group of forest-type dragons, including Green Dragons. It’s completely useless for any Tier 14 Mythic dragon units."

"If we go with this one, we’ll see the biggest short-term boost—but it’s a bit too specialized. Long-term, the cost-effectiveness just isn’t great..."

Hearing all that, Ethan found himself stuck. This wasn’t going to be an easy decision.

Ethan really did have a bit of decision paralysis. All three of the Special Resources Auremax had listed had their own unique value—it wasn’t like one was clearly better than the others. They just each leaned in different directions.

So how the hell was he supposed to choose?

Ugh... this was tough.

BOOM—

Suddenly, a deep rumble echoed across the sky.

Ethan looked up, startled, just in time to see Cicero descending from the clouds.

"Master," Cicero greeted him respectfully as he landed.

"You were gone a while. Did you run into trouble?" Ethan asked, raising an eyebrow.

Cicero had left two, maybe three days ago. With his current strength and speed, there was no way it should’ve taken him this long—unless something had gotten in his way.

Sure enough, Cicero nodded slightly. "I ran into a skirmish between some Angels and an Inferno Arch Devil. It delayed me a bit."

"Inferno Arch Devil?" Ethan’s expression shifted. "From the Inferno faction?"

Cicero’s eyes glinted. "Yes. They were fighting in the outer regions."

Ethan’s face darkened. "So the outside world’s still a battlefield, huh?"

"I did a sweep around Sylvanwood’s borders," Cicero continued. "I spotted at least three separate Inferno forces moving through the area. Master, we should start preparing now."

"Compared to the Dungeon faction’s lunatics and brutes, the devils from Inferno are way more cunning—and way more dangerous."

"Great," Ethan muttered with a bitter smile. "Just when things were starting to calm down..."

"And?" he asked, curiosity piqued again. "Did you find anything else?"

"Out of the six basic resources, gold mines and the like aren’t really worth mentioning," Cicero began calmly.

"But aside from those, I did come across several Special Resource veins. There were deposits of Lesser Arcane Mithril, Bronzesteel, diamonds, Magic Pattern Ore, Dragonblood Crystal... and a bunch of others. All in all, I’d say there were maybe fifteen to twenty sites."

"Oh, and one more thing—I found a Level 4 Special Resource site. If I’m not mistaken, it’s one of the sacred relics of the Treant race: Sacred Withered Earthwood. The vein’s not huge, though—just a mid-sized resource point."

Cicero rattled off the findings like a report, calm and precise.

"Sacred Withered Earthwood?!" Ethan’s eyes widened, and he practically jumped. "Are you serious? You’re sure you didn’t misidentify it?!"

This was like someone handing him a pillow the moment he was about to fall asleep.

He’d just been stressing over where the hell he was going to find the two rare materials needed to build the Withered Wood War TowerSacred Withered Earthwood and Sacred Moonwell Water. And now, out of nowhere, Cicero had stumbled across a Sacred Withered Earthwood site?

Talk about a lucky break.
