Chapter 349: Arcane Mithril

Chapter 349: Arcane Mithril

"What’s the deal? Is an A-rank Arcane Core of the Fortress really that rare?" Ethan asked, curiosity lighting up his eyes.

"Rare? It’s way beyond rare..." Eldrin’s eyes practically sparkled as he rushed to explain. "Even in the Tower faction, an A-rank Arcane Core of the Fortress is considered top-tier. Only a handful of ancient archmages or Crimson Ultimate heroes have access to something like this. For the rest of us? Forget it—we wouldn’t even get to touch one!"

He suddenly paused mid-sentence, then turned to Ethan with a look that was part admiration, part desperation—like a man trying to charm a king.

"My great Lord, please forgive my excitement and boldness, but... but would you allow me to handle this A-rank Arcane Core of the Fortress? I swear—on my life!—if you entrust it to me, I can build a mid-tier Fortress for Emerald Castle!"

"A mid-tier one?" Ethan raised an eyebrow, his gaze sharpening. "What about a high-tier Fortress? I mean, this is an A-rank Arcane Core—we should be able to build something top-level with it, right?"

"A high-tier one?" Eldrin froze, his face twisting into a bitter grimace. "Well... my Lord, with all due respect, I’m not quite there yet. Building a high-tier Fortress requires a massive breadth of knowledge and an insane amount of resources. I’m just not strong enough for that—at least, not yet."

"So how powerful would this mid-tier Fortress be?" Ethan rubbed his chin, thinking it over.

Honestly, if they were still in the middle of that war with the Dungeon army, even a mid-tier Fortress would be a no-brainer. He wouldn’t hesitate for a second.

But now that the Dungeon forces had already been pushed back by Emerald Castle, was there really any urgent need to build one?

And even if they did decide to build it—where would they put it?

Sylvanwood? Somewhere along the coast?

Or maybe somewhere else entirely?

It wasn’t exactly an easy decision to make.

But the moment Ethan started sounding hesitant, Eldrin panicked. The prize was right in front of him, and he could feel it slipping away. His face turned red as he puffed up, practically shouting in desperation.

"My Lord, don’t underestimate a mid-tier Fortress! Even a second-awakened Crimson Ultimate hero would struggle to take one down! Once it’s fully built, it can theoretically support up to sixty-four A-rank Arcane Watchtowers and nearly eight hundred units of Tier 4 Arcane Weaponry. Do you realize what that means?!"

"Just one A-rank Arcane Watchtower, once it’s magically enhanced, can take out a Tier 13 Legendary Unit in two hits. And those Tier 4 Arcane Weapons? They can slice through Tier 11 and Tier 12 Royal Units like butter."

"My Lord, just imagine—sixty-four Watchtowers and eight hundred Tier 4 weapons firing in unison. Who could survive that? Even someone like Seraphina or Prince Cicero—both second-awakened Crimson Ultimate heroes—would be seriously injured, maybe even taken out!"

"My Lord, I’m telling you, a mid-tier Fortress is no joke. Please, don’t underestimate it!"

"So powerful?!"

Ethan blinked, clearly taken aback by what he’d just heard.

Sixty-four Arcane Watchtowers.

Nearly eight hundred units of Tier 4 Arcane Weaponry.

If what Eldrin said was true, then yeah... that was seriously overpowered. But still—Ethan narrowed his eyes, thinking it through—could those Arcane Watchtowers and Tier 4 weapons really be built that easily?

He turned to Eldrin, suspicion creeping into his voice.

"Eldrin, can you actually build those Arcane Watchtowers and Tier 4 Arcane Weapons?"

The moment the question left his mouth, Eldrin froze like a deer in headlights.

"I... I-I... My Lord," he stammered awkwardly, "if we have the right materials, I can build Arcane Watchtowers, yes—but only B-rank ones with the blueprints I currently have. As for the Arcane Weaponry... I, uh... I don’t really know how to make those."

Ethan’s mouth twitched.

Yeah, he figured it wouldn’t be that easy.

But then, from behind him, Elynn—who’d been quiet this whole time—suddenly spoke up.

"Master, about the Arcane Watchtower blueprints—you don’t need to worry. Oakenmaw has a blueprint for an A-rank Withered Wood War Tower. He found it in the ruins of that lost kingdom in the Gleaming Forest."

"Wait, seriously?" Ethan turned, surprised and intrigued.

Elynn nodded, her eyes glinting. "Yeah. I meant to tell you earlier, but the materials needed to build it—Level 4 Special Resources like Sacred Withered Earthwood and Sacred Moonwell Water—we have no leads on where to find them. So I figured there wasn’t much point in bringing it up."

"Sacred Withered Earthwood?"

"Sacred Moonwell Water?" Ethan repeated under his breath.

Level 4 Special Resources... Should he consider going after one of those?

Eldrin jumped in, clearly familiar with the names. "Sacred Withered Earthwood is a holy relic of the Treant race. It’s infused with the magic of Earth Dragon Sylena and boosts the Treants’ core strength. But from what I’ve heard, the Forest faction has a tight grip on it. Outsiders don’t stand a chance of getting any."

"And Sacred Moonwell Water," he continued, "is said to be a divine blessing from the Elven Goddess herself. It has incredible healing and restorative powers. Extremely rare—and deeply sacred to the Elves."

Ethan rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. "So basically, anything above Level 3 is a strategic resource..."

He’d been so focused on Hero Units and regular troops that he hadn’t realized how crucial these Special Resources were.

"Oh, right—My Lord, there’s something else I forgot to mention," Eldrin suddenly said, as if remembering something important.

"What is it?" Ethan asked.

"There are actually two Lesser Arcane Mithril veins up north."

"Lesser Arcane Mithril?"

Eldrin’s eyes gleamed. "Yes. It’s a Level 3 Special Resource. And those veins even contain small amounts of Arcane Mithril, which is Level 4. Arcane Mithril has incredibly strong magical conductivity, making it insanely useful."

"It can be used to build Fortresses, Arcane Watchtowers, forge Arcane Weaponry... Even the core shell of the Tower faction’s Tier 13 unit—the Arcane Colossus—is made from Lesser Arcane Mithril."

Ethan’s eyes widened. "Wait, are you saying you can build an Arcane Colossus with that stuff?"

Eldrin quickly shook his head. "No, no, not at all. The method for creating an Arcane Colossus is top-secret within the Tower faction. Even most Crimson Ultimate heroes probably don’t know how it’s done. All I know is that it might involve life infusion and a thunder core."

He paused, then added with a sly glint in his eye, "But regardless, both Lesser Arcane Mithril and Arcane Mithril are basically hard currency. Every merchant in the Light Alliance wants them. If we sell it to them, they’ll flip it to the Tower faction for a huge profit."

"After all, everyone knows—Tower faction is the richest group in the entire Glory Lords X world. No contest."

"I see..." Ethan’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "So you’re suggesting I trade the Lesser Arcane Mithril and Arcane Mithril for the Special Resources we need."

"Exactly!" Eldrin grinned. "My Lord, trust me—Arcane Mithril is valuable enough to give us the upper hand in any negotiation. As long as we’re not asking for anything above Level 4, we should be able to get what we want."

"That’s... actually a solid plan," Ethan murmured, nodding slowly. Then he looked back at Eldrin. "How many Tier 13 Arcane Colossi do you have right now?"

"My Lord, I currently have 48 units of Arcane Colossus," Eldrin answered immediately, not daring to hold anything back. "And around 200 units of Tier 11 Naga Sirens and Tier 12 Naga Queens."
