Chapter 319: Fastest 13-Tier Legendary Unit

"Nice!"

Ethan’s face lit up with a big grin.

Finally, it worked.

He’d practically talked himself hoarse—man, that was not easy. But convincing a second-awakened Crimson Ultimate hero to join them, along with hundreds of regular Firebirds and Phoenixes? That was a massive win, no matter how you looked at it.

Now, once Seraphina goes through her second awakening too, Emerald Castle will have two second-awakened Crimson Ultimate-level powerhouses on their side. Like he said—even if they still can’t take on the Dungeon King head-on, at least they’ll have a fighting chance to hold their ground.

And that alone?

That’s already a huge step forward.

"As for what’s next..."

Ethan’s eyes flickered with thought, then he turned to Auremax. "Auremax, that Dungeon entrance in the eastern part of Sylvanwood—does it connect to this first-level Dungeon too? You think that guy who ran off might be heading there to regroup with the Dungeon army?"

"If that’s the case, we need to get back there ASAP!"

"If word gets out and they realize how weak our defenses are right now, they might launch a siege immediately..."

But before Ethan could even finish his sentence, Auremax shook his head.

"My Lord, the Dungeon entrance in the eastern region isn’t quite the same as this one."

"Oh?" Ethan paused, eyes narrowing. "What’s different about it?"

"There are several types of Dungeon gates," Auremax explained. "The most common is the Tiered Gate—it connects the surface world to the first layer, then from the first to the second, and so on, deeper and deeper."

"Then there’s the Targeted Gate. That one links directly to a specific layer—it could be the third, or the tenth, or even the thirtieth. It’s fixed, not sequential."

"And then there are the Random Gates. Every time you go through one, you end up somewhere different. Honestly, those are the most dangerous. What if you pop out right in the middle of the Dungeon faction’s main base? That’s game over."

"Unless someone’s completely desperate, no one in their right mind would mess with those."

Ethan froze for a second, eyes widening in surprise. "Wait... I get it now. You’re saying the Dungeon entrance in the eastern region is a Targeted Gate? So the other side doesn’t lead to the first layer—it might actually connect straight to the Dungeon army’s main base?"

"Exactly," Auremax nodded, his eyes gleaming.

"In fact, the Dungeon faction has the power to modify Tiered Gates and turn them into Targeted Gates. That entrance in the east might’ve originally been a regular Tiered Gate, but after some tinkering by the Dungeon forces, it’s now a direct link to wherever they want—probably their stronghold."

As soon as he said that, Ethan’s eyes lit up. "So that means... if that bastard who ran off wants to regroup with the Dungeon army in Sylvanwood, he can’t use the eastern gate. His only options are the Dungeon entrance we just came through—or maybe some other hidden gate nearby that leads back to the surface?"

That explained a lot.

He’d been wondering why the mission to kill the Dungeon Lord hadn’t been marked as complete yet, even though the battle had ended a while ago.

Turns out... there was still one last shot.

If that Venomspike Manticore, Drexon, actually made it back to the surface world, then yeah—the mission would be over. Not failed, necessarily, but done. But if they could intercept him before that—take him out?

Then they still had a chance!

"There’s only one Dungeon entrance around here that leads back to Sylvanwood," Isaryne chimed in just then. "The rest are either Random Gates, deeper-level entrances, or too far out to matter. I haven’t seen any other surface exits nearby."

That made Ethan even more fired up.

"Let’s move!"

"We’re cutting him off!"

Honestly, under normal circumstances, killing a Dungeon Lord wouldn’t be that big of a deal. He wouldn’t be this hyped. But this time was different.

First, there was the mission completion—taking out the Dungeon Lord was the final objective.

Second, and more importantly—Seraphina’s second awakening.

She was already level 54. If she managed to land the killing blow on Drexon, that might be enough to push her over the edge and trigger her awakening.

And if that happened? That would be huge.

How could he not be excited?

"My Lord, no need to rush," Auremax said with a calm smile. "With Isaryne here, even if we rest for a couple of days before heading out, we’ll still catch up in time. Drexon’s speed isn’t even close to ours."

"Let alone compared to Her Highness Isaryne..." he added with a chuckle.

After all, the title of "Fastest 13-Tier Legendary Unit" wasn’t just for show.

In the world of Glory Lords X, among all known 13-Tier Legendary Units—aside from a few ancient, nearly mythical ones—the Firebird race was universally acknowledged as the fastest. And not just by a little. They had no competition.

And Isaryne wasn’t just any Firebird—she was a Crimson Ultimate Firebird hero.

Her speed? Probably off the charts.

So yeah... no need to panic.

"Yeah, good point..."

Ethan nodded thoughtfully, then turned to look at Isaryne. "Isaryne, can you fly us back to the Dungeon entrance?"

"I can use Sacred Realm to take you there," Isaryne replied coolly, giving him a quick glance.

"That works!" Ethan nodded without hesitation.

"My Lord, I have another suggestion..." Auremax spoke up again. "Most Dungeon creatures have an extremely sharp sense for danger. If we get too close, there’s a good chance we’ll tip him off. I recommend we intercept him on the surface instead."

"Intercept him on the surface?" Ethan blinked.

"Yes," Auremax confirmed with a nod. "The other side of the Dungeon entrance leads to Verdant Ravine. If we wait for him there and strike first, we can cut him off before he reaches the Dungeon army’s base in Sylvanwood. With our current strength, he won’t stand a chance of escaping."

"Alright, sounds like a plan." Ethan nodded again, then turned to Isaryne. "Let’s rest for the night and head out first thing in the morning. That okay with you?"

"Fine," Isaryne replied with a curt nod, then immediately spread her wings and soared into the sky, disappearing into the distance.

"Master, don’t worry," Seraphina huffed as she walked up beside him, clearly still fuming. "Once I hit my second awakening, I’m gonna crush that stuck-up Firebird. Let’s see how cocky she is then! Hmph!"

"Go for it! I believe in you... Hahahaha!" Ethan burst out laughing.

Yep, these two were definitely at each other’s throats now.

But honestly? He was pretty sure Seraphina would come out on top. Not just because of her attitude—but because she was a B-rank Crimson Ultimate hero. Isaryne, on the other hand, was only D-rank.

That kind of tier gap wasn’t something you could just make up for with a few extra levels.

Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, two days had passed.
