Chapter 316: Much appreciated

"BOOM!"

"BOOM!!"

Almost the instant the Orb of Annihilation spun out of control and went berserk, two terrifying surges of magical energy erupted just outside the battlefield. Within mere heartbeats, they slammed straight into Xenodrath’s position.

"Triple Divine Storm!"

"Crystalmana Lance!"

Elyra and Zyraxis had joined the fight.

RUMMMMMMBLE!

As those two devastating spells came crashing down at lightning speed, the entire base of the dead volcano—and even the surrounding land—shook violently, like the earth itself had been enraged.

A massive explosion tore through the battlefield.

"Fwoosh!"

"Fwoosh!"

"Fwoosh!"

...

Shockwaves rippled outward in every direction, slamming into Firebird hero Isaryne, and the two Venomspike Manticores—Drexon and Skarvex—finally snapping them out of their daze.

"Emerald Castle?!" Isaryne gasped.

"What the hell?! Why are they suddenly here?!" Drexon snarled.

"Xaltheira, Skorvex, Vhydrakk—those useless bastards! What the hell were they doing?!" Skarvex roared, his voice laced with fury.

His face twisted into a mask of icy rage, bloodlust boiling over.

But even as he raged, Skarvex didn’t hesitate—he spun on his heel and bolted.

He knew. He knew damn well.

The moment Auremax and the rest of the Emerald Castle crew showed up, it was over.

This war was lost.

Honestly, if they’d gone head-to-head from the start—troops against troops, generals against generals—they might’ve had a shot.

But now?

Now the Emerald Castle bastards had picked the perfect moment to strike. Just this opening combo alone had already crippled Xenodrath—if he wasn’t dead, he was definitely out of the fight. That was one of their strongest, taken out right off the bat.

There was no way to keep fighting after that.

So Skarvex had to ditch Xenodrath and get the hell out—now.

Because if he didn’t, and he ended up being the next target...

Even he might not make it out alive.

And deep down, he knew—he was worth more to the enemy than Drexon. If they had the chance to take him out, they absolutely would.

In other words, once Xenodrath fell...

He, Skarvex, would be next.

"Fwoosh!"

In the very next second, Skarvex turned and ran, no hesitation at all.

But he was already too late.

THUD!

BOOOOOOMMMMM—!

A deafening roar split the air as searing heat surged forward. A massive, terrifying wall of flame exploded into existence, swallowing everything in its path—and in an instant, it cut Skarvex off cold.

"Isaryne!!" Skarvex’s pupils shrank, blood vessels bursting in his eyes as he whipped around, snarling with rage.

He let out a guttural roar, feral and furious—but it was useless.

"Skarvex, where you running off to?" came a cold, mocking voice. "Weren’t you having a blast earlier, ganging up on me with your little buddies?"

Firebird hero Isaryne shot through the air like a comet, her face twisted in a smirk of pure contempt. Her eyes locked onto him like a predator zeroing in on prey.

She wasn’t letting him go.

And she didn’t even glance at Drexon, who was also trying to flee in the opposite direction.

Clearly, she wasn’t stupid. She knew exactly what she was doing. If she could take down Skarvex, letting the weakest of the three—Drexon—slip away was a price she was more than willing to pay.

But even as she cut off Skarvex’s escape, Isaryne’s gaze flickered for a moment. Her expression turned complicated as she glanced toward the other side of the battlefield—where Ethan, Seraphina, Auremax, and the others were absolutely thrashing Xenodrath with gleeful abandon.

"Emerald Castle... tch." She let out a cold snort.

Then, without another word, she lunged at Skarvex, who was still desperately trying to escape. The two clashed—but this time, it wasn’t a fair fight.

This wasn’t a duel.

This was a beatdown.

Isaryne was venting.

With her power, she’d been able to hold her own against all three of them—Skarvex, Drexon, and Xenodrath—at once. Now that it was just Skarvex?

He didn’t stand a chance.

She was steamrolling him.

Meanwhile, on Ethan’s side of the battlefield, things were going very well.

Xenodrath, already badly wounded, had just been hit with a brutal chain of attacks—Auremax’s ambush, the Orb of Annihilation’s explosion, and the devastating combo from Elyra and Zyraxis.

Saying he was "hanging on by a thread" would’ve been generous.

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM—!

Under Seraphina’s relentless, full-power assault, it didn’t take long before the last of Xenodrath’s remaining heads were blasted apart one by one—until nothing was left.

He was dead.

And right on cue, Ethan heard the sweet, sweet chime he’d been waiting for.

Ding!

"Congratulations! Hero Unit Green Dragon Seraphina under player Valkarion has reached Level 52."

Ding!

"Congratulations! Hero Unit Unicorn Elyra under player Valkarion has reached Level 60."

...

The massive XP haul from a Level 77 Dungeon Lord had paid off big time.

Seraphina had jumped two whole levels in one go, hitting 52. Ethan was thrilled—but he hadn’t forgotten there was still one more juicy XP prize waiting to be claimed.

"Seraphina, Elyra, Auremax, Zyraxis—go finish that one off too!"

He pointed toward Skarvex, who was barely holding on under Isaryne’s assault.

"Yes, my Lord!"

"Understood!"

Without missing a beat, Seraphina, Elyra, Auremax, and Zyraxis charged toward Skarvex, surrounding him in a flash.

Seeing this, Isaryne hesitated for a moment...

Then, surprisingly, she backed off.

"I’ll leave him to you. We’ll call it even."

With a flash of crimson flame, the massive Firebird appeared beside Ethan. Isaryne’s voice was cold, but calm.

Ethan blinked in surprise.

Then he smiled and nodded. "Much appreciated."

Ethan hadn’t expected to claim the kill all for himself—not from the start. But for Isaryne to just hand it over like that? That was more than he could’ve hoped for.

After hearing Ethan’s response, Isaryne gave him one last long look—sharp, unreadable—then spread her wings and shot into the sky, slicing through the air like a blade of fire.

BOOM!

In the blink of an eye, she crossed thousands of feet and dove straight into the heart of the Dungeon army’s main force. Like a hawk diving into a flock of sheep, she tore through them with ruthless efficiency, unleashing a massacre.

"Damn... that speed really lives up to the hype," Ethan muttered, blinking in awe. He shook his head, then turned his attention to a nearby cluster of Dungeon grunts. Might as well get in on the action.

Sure, he wasn’t on Isaryne’s level—but taking out basic units? That was easy.

Especially now, when the tide had completely turned. The battle was a slaughter. No danger, no challenge—just clean-up duty.

And while Ethan was busy mowing down fodder, the real show was wrapping up.

Skarvex, bloodied and barely clinging to life, finally collapsed under the relentless assault from Seraphina, Auremax, Elyra, and Zyraxis. He didn’t even get a last word—just a final, guttural snarl before he hit the ground, dead.

And right on cue, that beautiful sound rang in Ethan’s ears again.

Ding!

"Congratulations! Hero Unit Green Dragon Seraphina under player Valkarion has reached Level 54."

Ding!

"Congratulations! Hero Unit Unicorn Elyra under player Valkarion has reached Level 62."

Ding!

"Congratulations! Hero Unit Mana Crystal Dragon Zyraxis under player Valkarion has reached Level 63."

Ding!

"Congratulations! Player Valkarion’s personal Hero Level has increased to 54."
