Chapter 40: Luna Lacus (3)
[ AN: Music Recommendation: Hoy Como Ayer by Hermanos Gutiérrez]
Yoa’s jaw clenched after reading the emotion shimmering in Nova’s eyes. Of course, she was upset. The only way home they could think of didn’t work. He’d been so attuned to his own greediness, his own selfishness, that he did not consider how Nova might be feeling right now.
"I’m sorry-"
"No!" Nova rushed out, her wet hands pressing against his lips as they hovered in the water, Yoa’s legs idly kicking to keep them afloat. She was aware of what Yoa may be thinking. It was why he was apologising. But it couldn’t be further from the truth, and she didn’t know if that made her a bad person or not.
"I... I’m a little confused..." She looked away, her voice dropping, the emotion building behind her eyes again. Her hands slid down to his chest, the wild beat of his heart comforting. "I’m sort of... relieved."
Yoa’s eyes widened at her confession, searching her face, a grin spreading on his glistening lips. "Why’s that then?" He asked innocently, yet his voice rumbled in a purr.
"Oh!" Nova swatted his chest, water splashing over them from the impact. Yoa chuckled, and Nova couldn’t help but wobble her lips, which formed into a smile, her eyes creasing as she stared up at him.
Yoa leaned his face closer to hers, capturing her gaze in his, imprisoning her. "Say it," Yoa growled, his beast surfacing, eyes shimmering against his dark skin.
Nova melted under that molten stare and felt compelled to be utterly truthful. "Because of you," she whispered, unable to look away, so exposed and vulnerable to him. Her heart raced, and she shivered as his hands pressed her closer to him, those ethereal eyes burning into hers.
Yoa’s lips then brushed against her ear, voice low and thick with need. "Then I’ll have to take responsibility... for what I do to you."
Oh, sweet lord! Nova’s mind went to mush under his intense stare and such irresistible words. She didn’t need words for what came next. His lips grazed along her cheekbone, and her head slowly turned, her eyes lowering to his lips before they collided hungrily.
Nova’s arms were around him again, and his hands slipped to her lower back, lowering to her backside, gripping tightly as her legs tightened more around his waist as their tongues battled for dominance. Slowly, they began to drift to the other side of the lake as their hands and tongues explored each other. Yoa didn’t want to risk being inside this lake any longer, even while his heated blood rushed downwards and other thoughts were kicking in.
Nova’s backside hit the earth first, her body folding beneath Yoa’s as he hovered over her at the lake’s edge. The silty ground sank slightly beneath their weight, coating their skin in dirt and dampness. Neither noticed. Their sole focus was on one another; in that moment, that was all that existed.
Their need burned hotter with every breath—hips grinding, teeth clashing, lips nipping. The softest of moans escaped her, raw and unfiltered, as every thought of leaving, every burden she carried, melted into the mud beneath them.
It felt right to be in Yoa’s arms, to be tasting him, letting his body engulf hers completely. Nova had never felt so wanted before. His body had trembled with the realisation that she was in his arms and not a figment of his imagination, that she hadn’t returned home. Every stroke of his tongue, every grip of his hands and press of his need against her stomach made her ache deeper, crave harder, body instinctively arching into the heat of him until all that existed was the feel of him claiming her.
Claiming? The term felt foreign in her mind, but she embraced it, embraced him and this moment. It was so intoxicating, so primal it ripped the air from her lungs.
One of Yoa’s hands slid along her thigh, the touch scorching, like flames flickering beneath her skin, radiating up her skin. His hand slid further up, the skirt of her dress falling away, exposing her legs. His other arm was braced into the mud, holding him from completely crushing Nova with his weight. But his hips moved instinctively, seeking the warmth between her legs.
The beast within him was almost taking control with the need to claim Nova completely. She was his. Ever since the first time he left his mark on her, unintentionally yet instinctively, his beast wanted everyone on the island to know who she belonged to. Yoa’s more rational side fought it, but right now, he couldn’t fathom anything more than needing Nova.
Something about Nova was familiar, like she was always meant to be his and was returning home in his embrace, and utterly exotic and intoxicating. A growl ripped from deep within his chest at the feel of her soft hand sliding over his bulge and slipping beneath his loin cloth. He pulled back, eyes bright and wild, watching this little temptress slowly, teasingly stroking his hardness.
The pleasure erupted through his body, almost claiming him and making his body shake from the intensity. Her hand was confident in the movement, and his head fell back, the rays of the sun kissing his face. He almost roared out from the fire she had lit inside him.
Nova stared at him, lips parted slightly in an O, watching Yoa’s reaction to her touch was so freakin’ hot. It wasn’t just hot; it was magnetic, irresistibly so, causing a pool of heat to expand in her lower belly. Her hand moved quicker, watching his response, wanting more from him.
Yoa growled, bearing his canines as those golden-red eyes she loved so much were growing darker, molten, feral as their eyes clashed and like an electrical current zapped through her, her body responded, back arching more into him. His face lowered, and his mouth, tongue, and teeth marked down the side of her neck, trying to be gentle.
Small gasps rose from her lips to each bite, each one sharper than the last, making her body buck a little. It was exhilarating, shooting sparks along her skin. His hand moving between her legs, the sharp pleasurable sensation of his lips on her neck and his growling response to her hand pleasing him was so electrifying, melting her further into the mud.
Yoa’s fingers gripped that tiny fabric on her thigh again, the only piece blocking his hand from slipping between that heated flesh. His claws grew, wanting to rip it from her, but he was in control enough not to do that. If he ripped this silly little fabric away, then Nova would be exposing that area to everyone. His beast rumbled in fury at the idea of others seeing what was theirs.
Instead of ripping the tiny fabric, his claws retracted into his nail bed and skin, and his fingers slipped under the fabric, discovering the dampness between her legs. His length twitched in response, pulsing with fiery blood from Nova’s skilled hand. A deep growl of appreciation rumbled from his throat, through her body and along the ground.
Nova’s breath hitched, head rolling back to his fingers touching her folds. Holy sh-, it was like she’d never been touched before! Her body bucked to the touch, legs parting more like blooming flower petals, exposing herself more to him, offering herself to him, her body screaming for him to take her, claim her.
Gods, the feel of her almost dripping had his length seep with need, trickling a little over her hand. So engrossed in wanting to mate with Nova that he’d let his guard drop slightly. That was a mistake.
Yoa’s lips froze on her neck, eyes snapping open as the earth beneath them thrummed with life, speaking the language of the ancients in his mind, alerting him to another nearby.
Nova’s movements stilled, her eyes reading his steeling expression. Lust still filtered through his sunset eyes, but gradually, they became guarded like a wall slid up in place. In an instant, Nova’s world blurred around her, and she’d been hoisted up like a koala clinging to him. He leapt from the spot and landed in a nearby tree.
The dizziness of moving so suddenly and the change in temperature was disorientating to say the least. Yet Nova did not complain as she clung to the man who has done nothing but protect her.
The haunting sound of more than one harpy eagle’s whistle echoed in the wind further away. Yoa tilted his head, gauging where they were coming from. It wouldn’t be long until they were upon them. Hidden in the shadows or not, they were not safe.
Nova couldn’t hear anything, but her gaze moved to the canopy above. Her heart thudded from the change in pace, and her body tried to calm the heat and need still pumping through her veins.
Now, it pumped with adrenaline, and her hands shook slightly. Yoa tucked a stray strand behind her ear, gaze still focused on the treetops. He glanced down at her and softly pressed his nose to hers, circling it in a soothing manner before the air whooshed around them, and they sprung into another tree.
"Hold tight. They’re coming," he whispered into her ear before he leapt again, landing in the underbrush and started sprinting, holding her in his arms.
