My Wife Turns Out to be an Empress of the Dynasty -
Chapter 879 - 879: Breaking the Formation
With a cold gaze fixed on the distance, Gu Lan spoke with an icy tone. "You've been hiding in the shadows for so long. Aren't you planning to show yourselves?"
As Gu Lan's cold voice echoed, four or five shadowy figures emerged in the distance. The leader among them held a sharp sword, his eyes filled with a murderous aura. "I hid so well, yet you still found me," he sneered.
As soon as the voice fell, Gu Lan swung the Hongmeng Sword. "Did you really think you were well hidden?" Gu Lan had noticed these individuals long ago but hadn't acted simply because he wasn't interested.
The power of Gu Lan's strike was immense, and the figures wisely chose not to confront it head-on. They quickly retreated, moving thousands of feet away in an instant. Meanwhile, Gu Lan's attack tore through the surrounding space.
Holding the Hongmeng Sword, Gu Lan stepped forward with a cold expression. "Will you come at me one by one, or all at once? Let's make it quick. I don't have time to waste."
As Gu Lan's icy words rang out, his aura surged. He had expected these individuals to show some backbone and fight him, but to his surprise, they not only refrained from attacking but also took a step back. This move left Gu Lan momentarily puzzled, but his expression soon turned to one of disdainful mockery.
"I thought you had some strength, but it seems you're just pathetic," Gu Lan sneered.
Unfazed by Gu Lan's taunts, the leader of the group replied, "Don't overestimate yourself. We're not your real opponents."
As soon as he finished speaking, a thousand figures appeared behind the Wizard Clan experts. At a glance, Gu Lan's killing intent surged. He had initially thought they wouldn't make such a big move, but it seemed he had underestimated them. These individuals had brought a thousand wizard soldiers, and they clearly meant business.
Gu Lan had previously used some tricks on a small group of wizard soldiers, but this was on a completely different scale. The strength of these soldiers was evident, and Gu Lan knew he was in for a tough fight.
As Gu Lan coldly observed the scene, the Wizard Clan leader issued an order. "Kill him!"
With nearly a thousand wizard soldiers, he was confident they could take down Gu Lan. These soldiers were seasoned warriors who had fought for the Wizard Clan across the realms. Though their individual cultivation levels weren't exceptionally high, their combat experience was vast.
Soon, the thousand soldiers advanced, surrounding Gu Lan completely. Their auras merged, forming a massive formation in the void. As Gu Lan looked up, countless spear shadows rained down from the sky.
Seeing this, Gu Lan didn't hesitate. His expression darkened as he quickly adjusted his aura. The Hongmeng Sword in his hand slashed out repeatedly, and in no time, Gu Lan had unleashed ten thousand sword strikes. Although he managed to block all the incoming attacks, the wizard soldiers remained unharmed.
They pressed forward, thrusting their spears at Gu Lan. Faced with the relentless assault, Gu Lan had no choice but to retreat. Seeing Gu Lan struggling, the distant figures sneered.
"Is this all? I thought he was supposed to be strong. The Young Lord is truly a waste," one of them mocked.
"If we capture Gu Lan today, we'll surely be rewarded handsomely," another added.
Their voices, filled with arrogance, reached Gu Lan's ears. Faced with their overconfidence, Gu Lan could only smile wryly.
"You all seem to overestimate yourselves. Do you really think you have what it takes to kill me?" Gu Lan retorted.
It wasn't that Gu Lan looked down on them—they simply didn't possess the capability. While the thousand wizard soldiers were formidable, Gu Lan could easily break free if he wanted to.
The aura within the Hongmeng Sword surged, and a layer of blood light enveloped Gu Lan's body. To deal with these wizard soldiers, there was only one way: break their formation.
As Gu Lan pondered where to strike, An Ying's voice suddenly reached him. "Master Gu, the weakness of the formation lies at its center. If you take out the person there, the formation will collapse."
Gu Lan trusted An Ying, especially since he had once been part of the Wizard Clan. With a flick of his sword, Gu Lan's gaze locked onto a figure in the center of the formation—a man wielding twin spears.
"It seems you're the one," Gu Lan muttered.
Gu Lan moved swiftly, appearing behind the man in an instant. He raised his sword to strike, but before the blade could descend, several soldiers around him reacted. Their speed was astonishing, and they managed to block Gu Lan's attack.
Gu Lan was taken aback by their strength. He retreated hundreds of feet, his expression darkening. Despite his incredible speed, they had still managed to counter him.
As Gu Lan was processing this, a cold voice rang out again. "You think you can break the Wizard Clan's formation? You overestimate yourself."
Gu Lan ignored the taunt. He would let the man gloat for now. Once he dealt with the immediate threat, he would handle him.
"You like blocking, do you? Let's see how you handle this," Gu Lan said coldly.
The true energy around Gu Lan transformed into a dense, murderous aura. Ten thousand blood-colored sword shadows materialized, and Gu Lan's eyes were filled with killing intent.
"Blood Demon Descends!" Gu Lan roared.
A wave of blood energy erupted, covering the entire sky in a crimson light. Gu Lan's cold gaze locked onto the man with the twin spears.
"Today, you will die," Gu Lan declared.
Gu Lan had no intention of wasting time or energy on this fight. If he didn't kill this man today, he wouldn't be able to swallow his anger. Being constantly worn down by these soldiers, he couldn't afford to exhaust his energy and risk death.
Seeing the power Gu Lan was unleashing, the man's expression shifted to one of fear. Earlier, he hadn't retreated because he believed Gu Lan couldn't kill him in a single strike. But now, he had to reconsider. The power Gu Lan was displaying was far beyond what he had anticipated. If he wasn't careful, he could die here.
"Hold the line!" the man shouted.
The wizard soldiers once again mobilized their energy. Observing their efforts, Gu Lan smirked coldly. "Such feeble strength. It's hardly worth my attention."
With the Hongmeng Sword in hand, Gu Lan didn't wait for their attack. He raised his sword and struck.
"Boom!"
A deafening explosion echoed as the surrounding energy was obliterated. Not a trace of their power remained, and the formation's strength was reduced to a mere flicker.
Before the man with the twin spears could react, Gu Lan was already in front of him. As the man looked up, Gu Lan's sword pierced through his forehead.
