My Wife Turns Out to be an Empress of the Dynasty
Chapter 788 - 788: Testing Gu Lan

As soon as the words left his mouth, Gu Simu's expression instantly darkened.

"Then why wait? Kill them!"

Gu Simu was a never the type to hesitate. She wouldn't care about the consequences when angered.

The moment she finished speaking, Ding True Man, with a bitter smile, shook his head.

"Young Lord, please don't make this difficult for me!"

He couldn't defy Gu Simu's orders, but Gu Lan's orders took precedence above all else. Furthermore, the Bright Clan's tactics were far from simple. One mistake, and they could easily fall into their traps. At that point, escaping would become exceedingly difficult.

Seeing Ding True Man's troubled expression, Gu Simu said nothing more. She withdrew her aura and responded coldly, "Spare them for now. But next time, I won't let them off!"

With that, Gu Simu turned and began flying into the air, her figure vanishing in the blink of an eye.

Ding True Man exhaled a deep sigh of relief. It seemed that Gu Simu had chosen not to act impulsively this time, which saved him from a difficult situation. They both disappeared at high speed, leaving no trace behind.

However, mere moments after their departure, a figure appeared in the sky.

"They're fast, but you'll all pay for this one day!"

......

Meanwhile, Zhongren and the Lin siblings were already prepared.

They had set up a formation nearly a thousand feet away from the Lanyan Royal School, controlled by the Lin siblings. Within this formation were countless treasures, enhancing its power significantly. The strength of this formation was several times more potent than before, as Gu Lan had specifically instructed them to improve it.

The Lin siblings were powerful in their own right, and when combined with the treasures, the formation's capabilities were formidable.

Gu Lan, upon observing the formation's aura, nodded with satisfaction.

He knew that anyone at the Imperial Realm's seventh level or higher might be able to break it. But for ordinary experts, it would be nearly impossible to escape.

When Zhongren and the Lin siblings walked up to him, Gu Lan's expression remained calm as he spoke.

"Remember what I told you. Your mission is to stay alive. Do not act rashly."

The three of them nodded gravely. None of them wanted to die, so they understood the importance of keeping their composure.

Gu Lan didn't offer further advice. The trio, aware of his expectations, quickly retreated.

Just as Gu Lan was about to head towards Mu Yuyan, he suddenly felt an ominous gaze upon him.

He turned his head sharply, and the Hongmeng Sword instantly materialized in his hand.

"Is hiding in the shadows really a good idea?"

A cold voice rang out. Gu Lan didn't hold back. With a swift motion, he struck.

The sound of tearing space filled the air as the sky itself seemed to crack.

The hidden figure was forced out by the sheer force of Gu Lan's attack.

This person moved with incredible speed, instantly becoming a blur, retreating a thousand feet away. After stopping, the figure had a sword scar on their arm, but it wasn't a fatal injury.

Gu Lan raised an eyebrow in surprise. He hadn't expected the figure to dodge his strike.

"Some skill..." he muttered.

"So, why are you here?"

Gu Lan didn't need to look further to know who this person was. The faint aura betrayed them—it was definitely someone from the Blood Clan.

"I come by the command of our Clan Leader to challenge you in combat!" the figure replied coldly.

Without waiting for a response, the figure instantly blurred and reappeared, slashing at Gu Lan with incredible speed.

As he closed the distance, the figure split into hundreds of blood-red images, each one striking toward Gu Lan, unleashing a wave of murderous energy that rippled through the skies.

Gu Lan's face remained indifferent. With a simple motion, he swung his sword.

The sharp sound of a sword cutting through the air echoed as his blade shattered the closest blood-red images into pieces.

However, he didn't expect the figure to dodge his attack. Just as he prepared for another strike, a chill ran down his spine from behind.

He turned just in time to see the figure, holding a sharp blade, aimed directly at his head.

"Die!"

The figure's eyes gleamed with arrogance, thinking that Gu Lan was weak and easy to defeat.

But before the figure could land the blow, Gu Lan's face twisted into a sinister smile.

In that split second, hundreds of sword lights descended from the air, streaking across the sky like a rain of meteors.

The blood-red images were devoured by the sword lights in an instant.

The figure, caught in the storm of sword energy, tried to resist, but it was hopeless. With no chance of evading, the figure was consumed by the force of the attack.

After the dust settled, the figure lay on the ground, covered in blood and barely able to move.

Gu Lan stood in mid-air, his sword still glowing faintly.

"Pathetic," he scoffed, watching the figure struggle in vain.

The Blood Clan warrior, now on the verge of death, attempted to retreat, but his strength was too weak. Blood dripped from his wounds as he staggered backward, his face pale.

"How... How could this be? When did you attack?" the figure stammered, his voice filled with disbelief.

"You're too weak," Gu Lan replied coldly, "The power I wield is beyond your comprehension."

With those words, the Blood Clan warrior's rage flared. His eyes burned with murderous intent.

"You dare mock me? I'll show you what I'm capable of!" he snarled, lunging at Gu Lan.

His voice filled with venom, and he moved forward, his speed increased, aiming to strike with all his might.

He was one of the Blood Clan's top fighters, and he couldn't swallow the insult of being defeated so easily.

Gu Lan's expression didn't change. He merely looked at the warrior coldly.

Before the figure could reach him, Gu Lan leaped into the air with a single bound, his Hongmeng Sword aimed directly at the figure's forehead.

The Blood Clan warrior's face filled with shock as Gu Lan's sword stopped just inches from his face. His momentum immediately vanished.

"Impossible... You..." he gasped.

Without another word, Gu Lan reached out, his palm landing on the warrior's chest with enough force to send him flying.

The Blood Clan warrior coughed up blood as he was sent tumbling through the air, finally landing a hundred feet away.

"That's it? Is this all you've got?" Gu Lan sneered. "Go back and tell your Clan Leader that if you really want to test me, send more powerful opponents next time."

With that, he turned and began to walk away, leaving the warrior in a daze, standing motionless in shock.

The Blood Clan warrior stood frozen for several moments, his face flushed with shame. His eyes, filled with frustration and disbelief, stared at Gu Lan's retreating form.

"I... was careless... But this isn't over," he muttered, his voice filled with venom.

After a few moments, he regained his bearings. His wounds still fresh, he staggered away, vanishing into the distance.

......

A few breaths later, the Blood Clan warrior had returned to the Blood Clan.

Xue Lengyan, observing his disheveled appearance, remained calm, not even bothering to look at him.

She knew well the strength of Gu Lan, and she was certain that the warrior wouldn't stand a chance against him.

The warrior, without waiting, immediately knelt before the Blood Clan's leader, his head bowed low.

The Clan Leader, a towering figure clad in blood-red armor, glanced at him coldly.

"What happened? Why are you so badly injured?" the Blood Clan leader's voice was deep and menacing.

The warrior trembled before speaking, his voice laced with fear.

"I... I'm useless. I wasn't strong enough to defeat Gu Lan."

"Worthless trash, get out!" the Blood Clan leader bellowed, enraged.

As the warrior slunk away, Xue Lengyan stepped forward, bowing respectfully.

"Lord, if you want to test Gu Lan's true strength, why not go in person?"

The Blood Clan leader's expression darkened as Xue Lengyan's words sank in. After a moment's silence, the Blood Clan leader's bloodlust flared.

"Very well," he said. "You'll accompany me. We'll go together."

"Yes, Master," Xue Lengyan replied respectfully.

The Blood Clan leader moved swiftly, and Xue Lengyan signaled her subordinates to follow. In an instant, a figure disappeared into the shadows, moving silently behind them.
