My Wife Turns Out to be an Empress of the Dynasty
Chapter 771 - 771: The Price of Threats

Zhongren had just raised his head when Gu Lan raised his hand and conjured hundreds of Spirit Fruits.

Upon seeing the Spirit Fruits, Zhongren froze for a moment. But before he could speak, Gu Lan calmly said, "These are for your cultivation."

Gu Lan had seen Zhongren's loyalty, so he naturally wouldn't hold back. Zhongren had sacrificed himself to ensure Gu Simu's safety, a move that was entirely unexpected. Though Zhongren had planned to refuse, Gu Lan didn't give him a chance. He had already placed all the Spirit Fruits into Zhongren's spatial ring.

"You don't need to say anything more between us," Gu Lan said, turning coldly to face the few remaining members of Bright Clan, whose souls were now all that remained of them. They no longer posed any threat.

At that moment, they were enduring a pain worse than death—countless swords piercing their hearts. Such agony was beyond the capacity of most to bear. Gu Lan couldn't help but sneer coldly at their miserable state.

"Gentlemen, this is the price you must pay," Gu Lan said, his voice icy.

"Don't worry, I won't let you die so easily," he continued, his cold gaze fixed on them.

With a flick of his hand, the Linglong Pagoda appeared, and before the Bright Clan members could react, they were all sucked into the pagoda. The power around them dissipated, and Gu Lan, with Zhongren and Gu Simu in tow, began walking toward the Lanyan Royal School.

Meanwhile, Xue Lengyan and the others had long stopped several miles away. As she looked out, her expression darkened. A figure appeared in the distance—it was Arthur!

"Didn't expect the Divine Son to come here. I apologize for not welcoming you properly," Xue Lengyan said, stepping forward and bowing respectfully.

But in that instant, Xue Lengyan felt an invisible pressure descend upon her.

"The Bright Clan members are dead because of you. You'll have to explain this to me!" Arthur's voice was cold and unforgiving.

Upon hearing these words, Xue Lengyan's body trembled, and a sharp killing intent flashed in her eyes. However, she quickly masked her emotions, not letting Arthur see her reaction.

"Where are these words coming from? I never attacked anyone from the Bright Clan," Xue Lengyan replied. Though she had indeed killed several Bright Clan members earlier, her actions were swift, and there was no way Arthur could have known.

Arthur's expression remained impassive. As soon as she finished speaking, thousands of sword lights appeared in the sky.

"If I didn't have proof, would I have come to find you?" Arthur's voice was as cold as ice, and his killing intent was unmistakable.

He waved his hand, and the sword lights immediately descended upon Xue Lengyan. In a moment of panic, she leaped backward, retreating to a distance of hundreds of feet.

She knew she could kill a few members of the Bright Clan, but she was no match for Arthur, the Divine Son of the Bright Clan. With his overwhelming power, she stood no chance.

Though she managed to dodge the first wave of attacks, a few of her subordinates were not so fortunate. They were struck down by Arthur's sword strikes.

Xue Lengyan did not hesitate and quickly turned to flee toward the Lanyan Royal School. She knew that only Gu Lan could save her now; if she didn't reach him, she would surely die.

Arthur's face remained expressionless as he watched her flee. With a cold gesture, he struck out again, sending another sword strike toward her.

"Want to leave now? It's too late!" he declared, and his sword descended upon her.

As Arthur's strike was about to land, Xue Lengyan's subordinates—several powerful individuals—stepped forward.

"Divine Son, please allow the young Lord to escape! We will stay behind to delay him!" they called out coldly, their bloodlust surging.

They knew Arthur's strength well. If they didn't hold him off, Xue Lengyan would certainly die today.

Xue Lengyan knew that this was not the time for sentiment. Without hesitation, she made a jump and disappeared into the distance, her goal set firmly on the Lanyan Royal School.

Seeing her escape, a few of the Blood Clan's powerful members turned into shadows and rushed forward.

"Divine Son of the Bright Clan, I've heard much about your strength. Today, let us see for ourselves how strong you are!" one of the Blood Clan members shouted as they charged toward Arthur.

Arthur's face remained indifferent. With a wave of his hand, a sword strike descended like a hammer.

To him, these people were nothing more than ants, unworthy of any significant effort. The result was inevitable. His sword cut through them effortlessly, and their blood splattered, filling the surrounding air.

Without even sparing them a glance, Arthur stepped into the air and vanished.

Only the bodies of the fallen remained in his wake.

At this moment, Xue Lengyan was moving as quickly as she could, but despite her speed, she couldn't shake Arthur's pursuit. As she rushed forward, a golden light gathered in the sky, and Arthur appeared once again, descending from the air.

"Blood Clan young Lord, you're in such a hurry. Where are you headed?" Arthur's voice was cold, his presence suffocating.

From the beginning, he had never intended to let Xue Lengyan live. She had killed members of the Bright Clan, and in his eyes, that meant she had sealed her own death sentence.

Xue Lengyan's expression darkened, her brows furrowed as she realized that she was no match for Arthur.

"Why do you attack me, a weak woman from the Blood Clan? If word gets out, won't the Immortal Realm laugh at the Bright Clan for attacking a helpless girl?" she called out defiantly, hoping to provoke some hesitation.

Arthur sneered, completely unfazed. "That's none of your concern," he replied coldly, and with another swing of his sword, he sent another deadly blow toward her.

The battle raged on for what felt like an eternity. Xue Lengyan was running out of strength, and though she had managed to hold on, her body was covered in cuts and bruises, and her breath was labored.

"Master Gu, if you don't come out soon, I'm going to die here!" Xue Lengyan shouted with all her remaining strength, her voice echoing through the sky.

At that moment, the sky seemed to darken, and a sword light slashed downward, shattering the array of sword lights around them.

"Divine Son of the Bright Clan, you've come to my Lanyan Royal School without notifying me in advance. How impolite!" Gu Lan's voice rang out coldly from the air as he descended, his power immediately emanating from his body.

Upon seeing him, Arthur's expression changed, and a hint of killing intent appeared in his eyes. He had thought that Lanyan Royal School was far from here and that Gu Lan would not notice. But in the end, he was still discovered.

Gu Lan, in Arthur's eyes, was a bitter enemy. He had no intention of letting this opportunity slip away.

Arthur had killed many of Gu Lan's men, and Gu Lan had sworn to take his revenge. Now, it seemed the time had come.
