My Wife Turns Out to be an Empress of the Dynasty -
Chapter 734 - 734: The Murderous Thought Has Been Activated
Gu Lan did not make a move, but the aura around him was terrifyingly oppressive. The sheer force emanating from him was enough to suffocate the elder before him, making it hard for him to breathe. Although the elder's eyes remained fixed on Gu Lan, his face was contorted with difficulty.
"If I don't deal with you now, you'd better not be ungrateful!" Gu Lan spoke with a tone of indifference, already losing interest in the elder. The elder had sustained grave injuries, and the remaining strength in his body was minimal. After taking two heavy hits from Gu Lan, it was impossible for the elder to recover quickly.
Gu Lan had no intention of wasting any more time on him. He was already preparing to leave. However, just as he was about to turn around, a cold smile suddenly appeared on the elder's face.
"Today, you may not leave!"
These words caused Gu Lan to stop in his tracks, turning his head in confusion. "You think you can stop me?"
Even at the peak of his power, this elder was not Gu Lan's opponent, let alone now. Killing him was just a thought for Gu Lan, and it was only because he didn't want to get his hands dirty that he hadn't done it yet.
"Who said I'm the only one here? If I'm no match for you, what about them?" The elder spoke in a cold voice, and the smile on his face grew more arrogant. With a wave of his hand, fifty or so ghostly figures shot out from behind him.
Blood-red light flooded the sky, and terrifying blood energy descended like a crushing wave.
Gu Lan's face darkened when he sensed the figures emerging behind the elder. It seemed this old man had prepared thoroughly for this confrontation. He had dared to act so arrogantly because he was confident in his backup.
In that case, how could Gu Lan not give him a chance?
With a cold glance at the elder, the Hongmeng Sword in Gu Lan's hand flickered with a sharp, frosty gleam.
"Since it's come to this, I'll give you all a chance. Don't let me down, or you'll all die!"
Gu Lan had already lost his patience. He originally wanted to spare the elder, but since the elder had refused to take that opportunity, Gu Lan no longer felt any obligation to show mercy. The power emanating from the approaching figures caused the others to furrow their brows, their expressions turning solemn.
However, none of them took a step back. They were waiting for the elder to give the signal.
The elder, understanding Gu Lan's strength, coldly glanced at him before issuing orders to his subordinates.
"Don't try to kill him. Just stall him!"
Dark Master had already gone to Lanyan Royal School, and the elder knew this. That was why he had prepared this final move. Today, he intended to make Gu Lan pay the price.
"Understood!" the subordinates answered respectfully, before collectively gathering their energy. Black mist surged into the sky, and the fifty or so figures charged toward Gu Lan.
Seeing the approaching group, Gu Lan's face remained indifferent. His true energy surged as well.
As soon as they got close, Gu Lan made a swift counterattack with a backhanded strike.
With a tearing sound, all those who approached were sent flying hundreds of feet away.
But what surprised Gu Lan was that these figures didn't seem to be intending to fight him head-on. The earlier retreat had allowed them to conserve energy, and this puzzled him.
He couldn't help but look at the elder. This seemed to be related to him in some way.
When the elder noticed Gu Lan's gaze, a mocking smile appeared on his face.
"Let them entertain you for a while."
He had no intention of making a move himself. Gu Lan instantly sensed that something was off. But before he could ponder further, a dozen figures darted toward him, moving with such speed that they could no longer be seen clearly by the naked eye.
In Gu Lan's perspective, these were just minor distractions. He casually swung his sword, sending them flying with ease.
While his power was overwhelming, it was still difficult to injure these figures. They weren't confronting him directly, instead, they were constantly evading his attacks.
…
After several hundred exchanges, Gu Lan's patience was exhausted.
Standing still in mid-air, his face was as cold as ice, and his eyes were filled with murderous intent.
"A bunch of fools who don't know when to die. If you want to die so badly, I'll send you on your way!"
Just as he was about to make his move, a voice suddenly rang in his ears.
"Master, please return quickly!"
It was Ding True Man's voice, sounding urgently, with only that single line.
Hearing the voice, Gu Lan turned to leave. However, before he could take a single step, the fifty or so figures blocked his path once again.
These people were like sticky tar, determined to prevent him from leaving.
"I suggest you move aside, or you will die!" Gu Lan's patience was gone. As soon as the words left his mouth, he brought the Hongmeng Sword down in a swift arc.
Though Gu Lan's strength was formidable, these people didn't directly confront him. They dodged nimbly, quickly retreating from his attack, then charging at him again from a distance of thousands of feet.
"Don't waste your effort. If they're determined to keep you here, you won't be able to leave today!" the elder said arrogantly, walking toward Gu Lan with a cold smile on his face.
He didn't expect these people to kill Gu Lan—he only needed them to stall him.
Hearing his cold words, Gu Lan's expression darkened, and a murderous glint flashed in his eyes.
"So you knew all along? I really underestimated you."
His expression turned grim, and a murderous aura immediately surrounded him.
"These guys may be tough to deal with, but I can certainly kill you!"
Gu Lan had given the elder a chance earlier, but since the elder didn't cherish it, he could blame no one but himself.
With those words, Gu Lan disappeared in an instant. Before the elder had a chance to react, the Hongmeng Sword pierced through his body.
Blood splattered as the elder froze in place, his eyes wide in disbelief. Not a single word escaped his lips, and his breath ceased at that moment.
He never expected this outcome. He had thought he still had a chance to fight back.
Seeing the elder's shocked expression, Gu Lan shot him a cold glance and then casually wiped his hand. The blood on the Hongmeng Sword was swiftly cleaned.
The elder crumpled to the void, his body falling lifeless.
The group of fifty or so figures in the distance froze for a moment, then involuntarily stepped back a pace.
Gu Lan had struck so swiftly that they hadn't even seen the movement. They now found themselves without a leader, uncertain about what to do next.
"Anyone who doesn't want to die should get out of my way. Otherwise, I will kill you!" Gu Lan's voice was icy, filled with murderous intent.
Though he couldn't kill them all in one blow, he could guarantee that anyone who dared approach him within a hundred feet would be instantly killed.
The chilling aura surrounding him terrified them, and none of them dared to approach.
"If you don't want to fight, then get out of my way!" Gu Lan said as he raised his sword, and in the blink of an eye, he was already thousands of feet away.
Seeing him leave, the group's frustration boiled over. Their eyes burned with fury.
"There are so many of us, and we still can't take him down? Kill him!"
It wasn't clear who shouted this, but soon, everyone else followed suit, releasing their own energy.
However, their aura was short-lived, as they had not even moved forward when the person who had spoken was pierced through the chest by a sword light.
"Anyone who dares to move forward will share his fate!" Gu Lan's cold voice echoed through the void, and the words struck them like a thunderclap.
Seeing that they didn't dare to take action, Gu Lan paid them no further attention. He turned and vanished.
At this time, Lanyan Royal School was in a state of high alert. Though Dark Master and his forces had not yet broken through, the defensive formations had already been significantly damaged.
Inside the palace, Gu Simu's face was grim, his eyes filled with killing intent.
"As disciples of Royal School, how can we allow these scoundrels to act so recklessly!"
